So in conclusion this is just FF and this trade would never happen.
-
We need to see them play then we eliminate the guessing and assuptions. Poles built the team over the last 3 yrs, having a starter at LT allowing him to get a QB, WRs, RT, CBs. Because of a low payout at LT, he was able to sign OL and DL. It absoutley was a win win.
-
Its about the money it would cost, you can make lots of arguments about the talent, but it disrupts the next 3 yrs of contracts he set up to come due when Caleb is ready for a contract. It just doesnt work out.
-
I would say we got 3 yrs of average play from a 5th round LT. Plus a 3rd round comp pick. I would have to say that is one of Poles good moves over the last 3 years. It is hard to assume a 2nd round RT pick transitioning to LT in his rookie year has some growing to do before he may be ready to take over the starting position. Doubt that is at the start of the season. If at some time this year he is ready, then Braxton leaves for big money and no harm done.

I just addressed this in Tidbits, no use repeating it,(IMO) its a stupid trade.( TJ Watts just got an average of 41 mil a year contract). (JJ is hurt, generally teams dont trade for injuried players). ( 4 high end assets over the next 4 years) So instead of rookie friendly contracts, we pay guarranuteed 41 mil a year? Besides the 41 mil we would have to pay 15 mil in dead cap space over the next 3 yrs on JJs contract. To be fair, the money is the big problem, not the quality of players in the trade.

Well the (trade for Parsons is back). Pundits and some fans are just getting clicks again. How many times are they going to print the same story again. Not intended to be funny but would Dallas take Kmet and Braxton for Parsons? That would free up money to help pay his new contract. It would free up 13.5 mil against the cap, the problem is Parsons is going to want 35+ mil with a new contract. Just looked it up, Micah is making 24 mil this year , forget I mentioned that stupid trade.

When the Bears jumped on the chance to draft him in round 2 when I dont think that was the plan, shows you they thought he was a special player. Now he still has to prove that on the field, but we are seeing signs that will end up being a good pick.
-
Obviously I agree with your opinion. He led the league in catch rate the last 2 yrs for TEs. He had 35 less targets last yr than in 2023. It was because of the inept offense and coaching, not do to talent. I dont understand the notion that because we drafted a TE we should get rid of Kmet. Depth is a stength for good teams. Dumping good players when you are trying to establish a winning team is counter productive. If Braxton plays well that will be a plus for the team. As much as we know what Braxton is, Ozzy is still a rookie and lots of questions he has to answer that is not just going to show up in the preseason. With all the injuries we have had along the line the last two yrs, having 4 OTs is a plus. (as you stated)

I dont believe GMs start cutting or trading good players unless they are upside down with the cap. So lets say they trade Kmet in the offseason and Loveland gets hurt in the first month of the season. That makes that decision a bad idea. To many assumptions before we see how the team performs this year. Jones brings us a 3rd round comp if someone pays him over 20 mil, so he has value better than his 5th round draft position. Doubt anyone gives you better than a third if you trade him during the season.

Yes we have tape on Braxton and not on Ozzy, some on Kiran. I dont think we can assume anything, Braxton could be better, players do get better and read where he looks bigger. A weak ankle does not totally take him away from working out. I remember you saying, (lets see it ), I want to see it from all of the canidates. I too believe Jones wont be here next year but its to our advantage that he plays well for trade potenial. We do not know how much scheme, playing next to Thuney will affect any LTs play. We drafted 2 LTs in the last 2 yrs to be where we are at with the competition. I want them all to play well and let the coaches decide who deserves to start.
-
The coaches evaluate everything and I trust their decision. As far as bull rush, I want to see all the LTs handle that. I dont think we can assume Kiran or Ozzy will be good and Braxton is same old self. Aug brings games and we will see how it plays out but I do think Kiran is being groomed to be the swing T and the actual battle is Ozzy and Braxton. Last year doesnt matter, the new coaches are judging them with the play they do now.
-
That's exactly how its playing out.
-
Caleb is starting to shine, Burden had two TDs today and Dom Rob is getting a lot of first team reps.
-
I hope all three play well and its a hard decision to who starts. The better talent we have for depth makes this team better. At this point, Ozzy seems to be out front but Jones is in pads and we'll find out who wants it more.
-
As the roster is right now, there are 58 players under 26 years old on the roster. As much as the stars have different ages, I think Poles is building this to have a significate run starting this year.
-
You need to run for politics you have the truth gene and its amazingly put in this post.
-
Caleb is starting to look better in practice. They say Case and Tyson look better in the offense than Caleb does right now. The strength of Caleb was on display last year, not in the every down play but when the game was on the line at the end of games when he was spectacular on how he reacted at the end of games. He has some bad habits to change which will take some time. We have to remember BJ jumped on the Bears job because of Caleb, I trust his judgement.

Every team has a different draft board and is not based on pundits rating in a draft. I dont know if Ozzy will be as good as Banks or Ersery but they had a plan to take him in the second. They like you agreed they needed to add to LT, just the plan was a little different. I love CC, but she works for ESPN and they get stuff wrong all the time. Being wrong on a prediction in media is a common occurance. The just of all the arguments is we will never know what is true or not true, just a point of discussion.
-
I never said she made it up, because her sources doesnt seem to be reliable and she didnt know at the time. Everyone gets stuff wrong but may have come from an honest place.
-
She was reporting on the information she had. None of this really matters now, its just when the draft was happening I said I didnt think we were going to move up for a RB because I think BJ liked Swift better than the preception we had to have a #1. I dont have inside sources or anyone I trust saying this. Before the draft Poles was talking about not having enough draft picks and needed to get some. To move to get Jeanty I think it would have took maybe both #2s and a 1 next year. Maybe one #2, our 4th and a #1 next year and a third. No one knows how that would have played out. In the second he did trade a high #2 for 2 lower #2s. BJ came here and said we need this this and this. and I dont think it ever was a #1 RB in the draft. TO ME they seem to have had a plan, Loveland, Ozzy, Turner, Burden was never in a plan but being available changed the draft for Bears. I am not even saying Jeanty would not have been worth what it would have cost, just dont think that was a plan. After the draft they never said they were trying to move up for Jeanty. Maybe if everything was true, it doesnt hurt after the fact. So I dont believe it was ever part of their plan. Its an opinion and no one knows anything because they never stated afterwards what they wanted.

The first day of pads , the one and ones between OL and DL, the OL keeps winning. A real good sign. Beat writers are saying everyone looks good, all the LTs.
