Floyd won't be going anywhere without a reasonable contract being done. If he signs a 4 year - 36 mil with 17 guaranteed , they will probably keep him. To be honest, he seems like a Patriots type of player to me.
-
If you go by NFL standards he is simply a average LT. He was down last year. He ain't getting cut. The only scenario is if they go to him and do a Long deal ( cut in salary) and he doesn't agree and they cut him. He needs competition. I see a rookie coming in and taking over if he continues to have poor play. Since there is no clear cut backup, he won't be going anywhere.

I don't think Henry or Hooper's teams let them get away. I'm not sure Ebron is consistent enough to get paid what he will command. I just Fells age so that won't be happening. It seems Jacob Hollister is the only one worth looking at. Probably will be a draft pick in 4th or 5th. To get the most out of this offense, the first 2 picks should be 2 OLs or a speedy WR with one. Probably draft a OT that maybe plays RT and switch to LT in one year then cut ties with him in 2.

What you get is new perspectives in the room with Dephillpo and Lazor . It is support for Nagy because he calls the plays. They have very little power other than to help coordinate Trubisky and the offense. It MT fails that will fall on Pace, I think us finishing 8-8 with so many bad aspects of the offense Nagy is also going to get blame if not quick turn around. The defense was 8th in the league even with our bad offense. I think they make a quick turnaround with Hicks coming back. The team is better than they looked last year.

Having all those penalties is a tell tale sign , he didn't have his shit together last year. If he the same as 2018 then it will work out but either a 2nd round pick has to push him or a vet on team because having a job given to him isn't working.
-
His moves got us to 12-4 in 2018 but a mediocre 2019 exposes mistakes. I would say this year will be the tribunal if he stays or if he goes.

Open forum for projecting fixes for whatever we need to fix. TEs: under control Burton Shaheen Braunnecker Horsted Saubert Holtz Raymond. Since the position was a disaster this year but have cap restrictions. I see Pace redoing the room. I think Burton ( if healthy) is listed #1 , Braunnecker gets cut, Shaheen comes back but will get cut before the regular season. Holtz and Horsted showed enough to be 3 and 4. The big Question is can Raymond play. Idk. In the draft there is no clear star but 8 prospects that might be good. In GBND report ( I like evaluation of players) Kmet/ ND is the only one that is ever considered a high pick ranked 36 on GBND report. Other prospects are H Bryant/ Wash, Hopkins/ PRU, Parkinson, Okwuegbunam, Harrison Bryant, Trautman, and Moss . A couple may go in the second round but most are 3rd and 4th round picks. You may get one to start and a few contributors but none will be a Henry or Engram first year star type. We have several U type TEs but Holtz is the only Y type with Shaheen failing on the team. So I dont think either of our picks in the 2nd will be a TE more of maybe a 4th or 5th grabbing a Trautman or T Moss. We could potentially grab a Free agent but it wont be a expensive one. Maybe a Hoelister/ Sea or Fells / Hou that can block and catch some. So I see Burton, Holtz, Horsted, Raymond being in camp. Maybe a Fells ( not expensive) as a Free agent. A 4th round draft pick Trautman also. With 4 making the Roster- Burton, Holtz, Fells and Horsted Practice squad: Raymond and Trautman Unless we grab a Henry or Hooper in Free agency, there is no star power in the room. Best we can expect is 2018 production from our TE group 67 receptions, 670 yards and 9 TDs. If the offense improves maybe 75- 725- 10. What say you?

Leno had a bad year. I think we bring in a draft pick to compete with him. If not the 43 or 50 pick , probably means he is 2020 starter. Unless they think Bars can play LT. I think there will be a new starter at RG , probably a rookie or Bars. With our cap space, there is going to have to be some cheap starters. RG will be one of those.

I did the draft game and made 2 2nd round trades to 2 extra 3rd rounders. 2a-- Josh Jones/ OT from Houston 2b-- KJ Hamlin/ WR from PSU 3a-- Shane Mieniux/ OG 3b Bryce Hopkines/ TE from Purdue Also Steve Montez QB from Colorado in the 5th. https://www.first-pick.com/NFL/DraftGame.aspx I listed some of the picks not knowing if the copy works.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda , we need to live in the reality of Mitch. Pace will go another year trying to make it work. I hope it works but if not , what they do behind him is what counts. With limited draft capital and up against the cap , hope they figure it out. With Free agency first up ( my choices), try to get Mariota on a 2 year prove it deal ( 15 mil)? I would hope that would work. 2nd and more likely they sign Case Keenum. He's capable of much more than Chase ever did. In the draft they will draft one . The problem is it has to be with 2a or 2b to have a shot that the real thing , otherwise with a 6th round draft Steve Montez from Colorado. I think I spelled that wrong. What say you and be realistic.

Defense is valuable in a big game. Nagy O works if you run the ball. We need a speed WR We need a quality TE We need a solid oline. To keep the defense good we need another pass rusher. Healthy Hicks matters. I think filling the CB and SS spot will be relatively cheap. Pass rusher will not be. We have a lo to do.
-
It's hard to say what we get out of him but let's just consider it like a older draft pick with upside. I think tolliver is slated to be next man up but Robinson may become a valuable backup. Wake got 5 mil for 4 years when he came over and we bettered that. Say 6 mil or 3 year 5 mil. In any event it isn't big money.

The bears signed a CB from Canada, Tre Robinson. Considered the best CB in the CFL , the bears outbid 9 other teams. 7 ints last year.
-
I like the draft but I think they are drafting a QB some where in this draft unless they pick up a starter type of free agent QB. Mariota, Foles or even a Dalton.
-
As he watches the playoffs he will notice KC going to the SB with his offense.
-
If his medicals check out , he will go high if not probably not a good idea.
-
They have a lot invested in OL so I don't think we go big contract there. A second round pick could easily start at RG. They will be bringing back Burton, Holtz, and Hoested and the draft isn't strong in TE so this could be an important offseason to get the TE. Hooper can block and catch. It's an important position for his offense. You only have one year left before you can cut Burton so its basically affecting the cap for one year. If not a TE , I would be all in on grabbing a pass rusher , JPP. Because at 31 his price wont be high. He had 8.5 sacks in 14 games. With us going to keep Floyd , he can be the 3rd OLB and give us production opposite Mack. Then in the draft get a OG and OT in the second round . The 2 most important needs for the team is fix the OL and TE spots. This does both.
-
Also does Dalton and AJ McCarron come in to play now?
-
Floyd gets a deserved rap for not being a pass rusher but he plays well with everything else. It's the 13 mil that gets in the way. He's not responsible for being drafted to high. Give him a 3 year 26 mil contract and bring in a situational PR and that position will workout. His ceiling is 6-8 sacks. Lots of people getting paid with that kind of production. We were still 8th ranked in the league with all the problems we had . Better offense will do wonders for our defense.
-
Any coaches you hire have been fired from somewhere. With nagy calling the plays. it's a job in name only. New perspective always helps.
-
We have run the same offense now for 2 years and the Oline played well in 2018 but didn't this year. 2018 we had a blocking TE on the roster (Sims) and a fullback. Without them assignments change and the Oline got worse. For sure Nagy needs to play to the team's strengths and not try to put square pegs in round holes. I think Nagy is smart and will do what we need to do to improve. We need to get a powerful RG in the second round of the draft. Switch Whitehair and Daniels back where they belong. Hopefully have Bars compete for a starter role at RT and bring a LT in to push Leno. It would not bother me one bit if both of are 2nd round picks were OL.
-
I don't think Leno is going anywhere. Best case would be back up to new starter. I think they freed moneyvup to resign Jackson.
-
Burdison is rated one of top 3 guards, no way he makes it to the late 4th round. Hopkins and Lewis are mid second round picks by most ratings so that would be good value.
-
He's going to cost to much for the position. Burton whether here or not gets 8 mil this coming year. You really think the bears are going to pay 18 to 20 mil for 2 TEs? Nope Shaheen will be back in camp but no guarantee he sticks. Burton back hopefully healthy. Holtz and Hoested will be resigned. We have room for 1 new guy, I think a draftee.
-
If a OC is graded higher than any other OL at that draft spot , go for it. I think Daniels is headed back to OC. If we draft a RG, I think Bars or Coward get a shot at playing OT. Leno and Massie aren't going anywhere but that doesn't mean they have to start. Some of our replacements are coming from people on the team, our cap situation is rigid to expect FAs and shallow draft capital to fill every position.
