  1. We know I've questioned Winston the man but I've long said if we had a shot at drafting him, I'd trade whatever it took to get him because he's pretty much as elite as a QB can be entering the draft.

  3. So that person who scooped the Bears hiring of Fox & Pace has indicated that it will be extremely unlikely that Cutler / Marshall will be on the same team next year. Person believes Jay will stay (although indicates Bears are shopping him to see what kind of value)...doesn't believe Marshall has much value on trade front but doesn't think Marshall and Cutler together is a good thing (not sure if they aren't as tight after Marshall called Jay out and how things went down late last year or if this is more of people thinking Jay might be a better player and more likely to spread the ball around if Marshall is somewhere else). TIFWIW.
  4. https://mobile.twitter.com/BradBiggs/status...795762248671232 I thought he was pretty solid for an undrafted / practice squad guy.
  5. A year ago I would have agreed, however, I didn't see Forte making plays last year. I saw a guy who basically got a lot of garbage dump offs and yards. A lot of that was the system, but again, the guy who would extend a play or make an extra guy miss in the open field wasn't there and there were quite a few times where I saw a play thinking Forte was going to break it and instead it went for a minimal gain (where a two years ago it would have been another story). PS: Forte is awesome and will go down as one of my favorite Bears of this generation. Plays hard, great attitude, hard working, etc. With the cap hit and a deep RB draft, it is tough to win when you are paying your RB top money (especially when you are repairing other areas). End of the day you can't just cut everyone though, but if Forte is going to want more money and a long-term deal, I just don't know that it makes sense at his age (and given where we are as a team). If we were ready to win now, clearly you aren't getting rid of him, but realistically I think we are in a 1-2 year rebuilding program and by that point, the value Forte brings isn't there. I will caveat this by saying if we are drafting a young QB who we think will start early, than I like the idea of Forte cause that weapon should help the young QB's development. However, I'd rather see 9M go into our line than the backfield.
  6. Take it at fast value but was surprised to see that ranking pulled together. He wasn't even rated highly from a receiving perspective (which makes me question the entire rating process PFF put together). He certainly wasn't an elite football player last year. He got a lot of garbage stats and run blocking wasn't good but I can't remember a special move / play he made last season. I like Forte a lot but in a deep RB draft and with Carey on board, the money you free up could help you land 2 starting caliber players (shore up oline / defense).
  7. Hub and Bleacher Report indicating that veteran Bears players are leaking info that they "wouldn't be upset if Marshall was cut". I would be very surprised if Brandon is around next year.
  8. Notice a trend with some of those teams...really bad QB's. Hard to say on some of the teams you are referring to because they haven't done it consistently over a proven period of time and they also have had other major issues (including issues of stability from the coaching ranks, etc).

    Cutler

That means if Bears wanted to completely unload Cutler (basically cut him), it shouldn't be an issue as it would be astonishing if he didn't get a contract worth $15M (that would literally be impossible). I think it is much more likely than any of us previously thought that Cutler is moved sooner vs. later. I still think the ideal scenario has us getting a pick for him. Teams will be desperate and to be frank, we are selling Jay at his lowest value, but understand if the org wants to make a change. I just wish it was in a year where there were more attractive QB options available.
  10. I want the Bears to stockpile picks. I don't care about a top 7 pick with this many needs. I want to accumulate as many picks as we can in the first 3 rounds, preferably in the first two rounds. I follow the old Jimmy Johnson and current Beliceck school of drafting. I think if we could clear cap space all while getting some draft picks for Cutler / Marshall, than I am open. We have serious needs and need to reconstruct and entire defense under a new scheme and potentially target a young QB (if we do in fact move Cutler...either way we should be targeting that QB). I still think we could get a 1st round pick for Jay (maybe a 2nd round pick). For Marshall, I see less trade value, but you never know. If we were able to get a 1st for Jay, than I'd take my 7 pick and move down some more (for another 1st and another 2nd and you'd be talking 2 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders). You might even be able to leverage and move for more. This is a deep draft and in most cases the positions we are focused on aren't necessarily full of elite players at the spot. I am a draft BPA guy but you can do that while accomplishing your needs by moving down in the draft, etc, and than still grabbing the BPA you have at that point. Given the depth at LB / Dline in this draft (supposedly) along with RB and WR, I think we'd be in a good position to stockpile. I do know that CB / Safety are thin though (but I expect us to target safety in FA) and we could technically make a splash LB move in FA as well. I also think by stockpiling picks, we can make an early pick on a QB (if we like a Nick Hundley or someone else) and even consider taking another back and consider moving Forte (if we are looking more "long") and go with a young 2 back set.
  11. Adding in some comments from Pace's portion. A lot of it was more of the same on Cutler but he talked a bit about Marshall, etc. A lot of this goes to the fact that Fox, Pace and his team are going to do their own independent assessment and not base things on the opinions of people who were in the organization previously or remain in the organization. I like it cause a lot of critical decisions are going to be made in year 1 (a couple of them will be made pretty quickly in regards to Marshall / Jay).
  12. http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/...back-jay-cutler Good article summing up the QB situation from Fox's comments. Can't argue with a thing he said. Very articulate.
  13. Some more tidbits: - Says they are only 10 days into looking at the roster and there is not time frame nor rush to evaluate all the players. - Both Willie Young and Jared Allen project at OLB. And the link to the actual press conference, for anyone that wants to see it. http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/vid...01-0ca02399e72e
  14. @danwiederer: Fox on Marshall: "Regardless of who it is, their focus and energy has to remain on what's going to help us win a championship." He also was asked a question about Marshall and showtime and it would appear that if Marshall sticks around, he will not be allowed to do the show.
  15. - Gave no commitment about Cutler (just said he's talked to him, along with a lot of other players - Confirmed interest in McCown - Confirmed they will primarily run a 3-4 defense.
  16. As in McCown bombed or he didn't like the Bills?
  17. Good god, McCown can't start. I don't mind if we brought him in and he worked with a young QB, but the idea of bringing him in as a starter is an awful idea. Having him on the depth chart is good though.
  18. IIRC, the guy the Jets moved up for was a gigantic bust and also the guy we were supposedly interested in. While we didn't knock it out of the park with those traded picks, we got far more production out of those two than the Jets did with Robertson or whatever his name was (the Dlinemen).
  19. The speed would be an excellent fit but the attitude and injuries, not so much. Unless price was right, seems like the risks (e.g., injury and to a lesser extent attitude), outweigh the potential reward on this one. However, when healthy, he'd clearly be an excellent fit in our offense.
  20. Geeze...I wonder if the Bucs are going to draft a QB at #1 overall. Or maybe they are about to trade us the #1 pick for Jay Cutler, haha.
  21. Anyone who is worth a decent contract isn't participating in this event. It will be guys who have been out of football, looking to get back in, guys coming off injuries, etc.
  22. I'm not following. If anything, that makes him look better. He was able to maximize their value and turn them into top picks (he's not the one further coaching them up in the pro's). Also, I don't know that you should talk about Wells cause he was drafted in 2009 (and I don't believe Drayton was at OSU at that point). Did you see their rushing attack this year, it was lethal and their back was outstanding. Elliot was incredible.
