Week 17 Official Game Thread CHI at DET, SUN 1/1, 12PM, FOX, DET -6.5, O/U 50
At this point - I am doing extensive scouting on the top qbs. Hire Sean Payton and let him figure this out. Semi serious. Haha.

Week 17 Official Game Thread CHI at DET, SUN 1/1, 12PM, FOX, DET -6.5, O/U 50
This was an absolute shit performance. Shows you how far he has to still come. I don’t want to here any excuse about oline or wideouts or anything else - he needs to get the ball out on time more and actually play within the offense. He will not succeed just running around, no matter how elite he is as an athlete. He just won’t survive and the bears won’t be good enough. This is two straight weeks of poor(er) play out of him. Today was some of the worse qb play I have ever seen. And the browns game is still bottom 3 ever. They need to force him to get rid of the ball fast and actually throw guys open.

Draft Slot Tracker (thru Week 15)
I would be exstatic if they did but Seattle doesn’t seem like a franchise that will pay that type of price to move up for a qb. I hope I am wrong. The colts or Falcons - I see either franchise willing to do that.

I meant trading for him - seems like Cards will blow it up. Maybe use some capital from some trade towns on wideout

Seattle likes its qb. So whil on paper it looks great, Pete isn’t trading up.

Top FA Targets
That was why the Bears paid for Claypool. Poles saw the cards and realized he had to act now or he had no options. Deandre Hopkins is probably best option if they go FA route. Or someone buys low on Michael Thomas?

Juju and Claypool got along real well. I think Claypool said Juju was best leader he was around or something like that. Juju isn’t great but I could see a world you have 3 good wideouts and maybe another TE option but that gets expensive. I feel they will draft a wideout.

Week 16 Official (ICE BOWL) Game Thread - BUF @ CHI, 12PM, SAT, 12/24, CBS, BUF -8.5, O/U 40.5
Houston needs to win one more. We will get the tiebreaker because of there tie if they have 3 wins and we have 3 wins.

Draft Slot Tracker (thru Week 15)
The thing is being #1 and knowing Houston goes qb at 2 means anyone who wants there choice at qb needs to jump Houston. This isn’t as of now a super deep qb draft so getting top pick is huge. Heck - Houston may give up a high pick just to move up and ensure they get their qb.

What does Poles do to make us a winning team in 2023 ?
Amazing

Yes on either.

santos is TOAST
I think he is still an accurate kicker - the problem is he is not a weapon. He doesn't have the ability to hit the 50+ yarder's that can be a game changer in the final 2 minutes etc. Given where the Bears are - I think it is time to start to try to find a weapon, even if it takes 2 attempts. Santos is a very accurate field goal kicker though and in my mind probably as a whole middle of the pack NFL kicker (somewhere between 15-20). But he is not special - given his lack of a big leg. That said - I read where after he missed the last extra point he moved his placement to try something different. Cause his issue really has been almost entirely on extra points. 90% accuracy from field goal is really good - despite the less than strong leg.

Week 14 Official Bye Week Thread
I expect they will sign at least one big money dlinemen, maybe two plus a high pick (for example if they don’t trade down I expect they go with one of the linemen).

Week 13 Official Game Thread (GB at CHI), 12/4, 1200PM CST, FOX, GB -1.5, O/U 42.5
It was 10 snaps split over multiple drives. I hope he looked good - but the sample size is super small. Lets see how he does over a few games and than can start to assess how it looks like he is doing / what the technique looks like vs. his rookie season.

Bears /2023
Hargraves isn't bad either - he's older, but still very good and therefor you may be able to get him on a bit less crazy of a contract. That said - I got to imagine Eagles make a play to keep him, especially given how good they are. Payne seems like a good bet to be on the market and he is going to get massively outpaid - but he still is a really good player at a major position of need.

Is Harry under his rookie deal next year too or is he a free agent at the end of the season?

The outcome was good - fields had his best passing game - despite 2 picks, but they lost. Now let’s hope Rams can somehow pull one out.

Roster stuff
This makes sense to me and I still think - with everything you know - you want Fields to play 4 weeks - giving him 2 more weeks of game rest is probably best opportunity to get to that point.

Yeah - this is a must lose for the long-term. I mean if Fields played and went off and they won 40-36, I'll live with it. I'll live with any win where Fields is playing and the offense goes ham. What I don't want is a 13-10 win with Semien playing QB or a banged up Fields winning a game 13-10 . Its a vaccuum analysis, but getting a top few pick would be massive in accelerating the rebuild (as long as it isn't because Fields looks awful the rest of the year and/or Fields is obliterated and has long-term health issues).

Bears at Jets Week 12 Official Game Thread, Mid QB Bowl Siemian vs White, SUN 12PM, FOX, NYJ -4.5, O/U 39.5
Those are tough cause depending on the severity - it can be a career threatening injury I believe.

Draft Slot Tracker (thru Week 15)
The one reminder is once we get through the bye weeks - the Bears drop due to SOS from 2 to at least 4. So I think it will be hard to maintain the #2 spot, however, if Fields is playing well and they are doing it because Mooney is out (at this point it is) and the defense is just bare bones (which it is) than I think it would be massive if we ended up on 2. Trade for whomever wants the #2 QB, stack the assets, and than draft and use free agnecy and put some draft picks aside for the following year as well to ensure you have flexibility to continue to target areas of weakness.

Roster stuff
I like the Zach Thomas comp as a guy who was thought of as below average measurables whose instincts had him way outperform himself.
-
Roster stuff
Bummer - now to hope the recovery period isn’t like 6 months or something like that and more in the 4-6 weeks and they just don’t want to risk rushing him back.

Week 13 Official Game Thread (GB at CHI), 12/4, 1200PM CST, FOX, GB -1.5, O/U 42.5
Look at what Christian Watson has done in space. Jones has that "it" in space or at least has given some flashes of it. So find him the ball. He doesn't need to be and never will be an 80 reception guy - but if you can get it to him in space and get him 80-100 touches - both via air and rushing the ball - he can be dynamic as a gadget guy. Start seeing what he can do - even if it is a limited sub set of the playbook for him.

Pringle probably isn't very good either - but I am willing to give him at least a chance, but if we were going to prioritize - I prioritize Jones & Claypool - since they are or hopefully are part of the future. The reality is none of the others are likely on the team next year.
