OK, so I saw a graphic about this and had to look into it. Apparently, since 2000, there has only been a single Super Bowl victory that had a top 10 WR on the roster who was drafted by the team he played for in the Super Bowl. That is Mike Evans. There have been 33 picks in the top 10 used for a WR since 2000. It is ugly. Darrell Taylor. Has 21.5 sacks in the last 3 years, and 15 over the last 2. Feels like a poor man's Ngakoue. $3.1M cap hit. Low risk. 6th rounders rarely make an NFL roster, so I really don't care too much about 6th and 7th rounders if you can get guys who make the 53-man roster for them. Taylor looks like one of them.

This move seems to have backfired on Poles. A waste of a 4th round pick and roster spot. Allen has been a liability and for some reason Caleb has targeted him a ton. He has 30 receptions on 56 targets with several drops. Kmet has 32 receptions on 37 targets. So 2 more receptions with 19 fewer targets. Allen also missed 2 games, so those numbers would be even higher if he didn't. It almost feels like Caleb feels obligated to throw the ball to Allen even though there are much more efficient options. Allen should be the 4th option, not the 1st or 2nd one.

He was making the vet roster salary. My biggest wish is bringing in Trey Smith. Poles was there when they drafted him. With the growth of Wright and stick Smith next to him we have a power spot on the OL.

New pictures of Dexter show a slimmer player, closer to 280ish than last years 312. I wonder if Allen is going to switch him to DE, and that increases our need for a DT in the draft. Interesting.

This O-Line is now locked in for a few years. As long as they figure out who starts at LT (Jones/Trapilo), I like having this type of continuity.

Since we dont have anything else to talk about, i thought it might be a good time to say that the "new" kickoff rule looked pretty good this past year. I was initially unsure. You guys may remember that I worried that there might be some new unintended wrinkles that would allow cheap or lucky free touchdowns. More specifically, Swift. The Bears are a top 5 rushing unit BEFORE contact, meaning the OLine is actually doing a great job at run blocking, yet Swift is bottom 5 after contact. So the run game is completely dependent on making a gaping hole that anyone can run through. RB will need to be addressed. Still can't believe Poles waited until the 7th to address it with a bunch of RBs on the board in the first few rounds.

If OTC is correct, we are projected to have 1.4 million in cap space next year. That's not good considering the free agents we will have. Now has 48 receptions for 622 yards and 5 TDs on the season. That is the most for a Bears TE since Kmet's 719 in 2023 (on 73 receptions). In the Super Bowl era, Dikta, Dewveal, Bennett, and Kmet are the only TEs in Bears history to have 650+ receiving yards in a season. Desmond Clark had 626. Loveland is having the 2nd best season in Bears history for a rookie TE, only to Dikta's 1,076 yards and 12 TDs in 1961 (in 14 games which is insane). Loveland also has a +43.2 REC EPA, 3rd to only McBride and Kittle. McBride has 161 targets, Loveland has 69.

Here's a complete look at the off season and will say I agree with some and not with others moves. I'll post my view after I study the draft more but this is a first look at the off season.

I see where Ian Cunningham is being strongly considered for GM or President of the Falcons. I know that if he becomes GM, we will get two 3rd round compensatory picks. I assume the same would be true if they tab him for President, but Im not sure, so if anyone knows Id love to know: 1) do we still get the picks if he is President and not GM? 2) do we get the first of those picks in this year's draft, and the next one next year? 3) are the picks tradeable? 4) are both the picks tradeable this year?
