The hot stove is burning this afternoon with speculation Jordan Howard will be on the move. Today he removed his Bear related photos from his Instagram account which caused Twitter to explode with rumors. The rumor gaining steam was trading Howard and the 8th pick to the Giants for their 2nd overall pick. Are the Bears targeting Barkley, who seems to be a better fit for Nagys offense? Or are they going for Chubb who fits their biggest need as a pass rusher or Nelson who could solidify the line for a century. Chase Daniels was on the Bear Report today which is on 670 the Score. I believe the Bears nailed this signing just by the way he spoke. He knows his role is to help prepare Mitchel Trubisky and he is fully engulfed. He spoke with certainties about how he wants things done and talked strongly on how advanced Mitchel already is. He learned from sitting behind Brees and Alex Smith. I believe the transition will go great since Chase already knows and understands Nagy and he can fill the gaps for Mitchel. I still think we could take a RB late in the draft but he is a good backup RB that can catch the ball.

With the owners meetings completed and just a few weeks before the draft any remaining free agents are getting nervous to find roster spots. This is where Pace often does a lot of work to fill out the roster. I think he's done with big contracts except for any extensions he wants to do with our current players (reportedly Goldman, maybe Amos). We have almost $28mil in cap space and have yet to cut Freeman which opens up another $3.5mil. That leaves room to sign a "name" player on a decent low risk deal. I was pissed when they let Robbie Gould go, he was an outstanding placekicker for us. I hope this new PK we signed away from the Dolphins is as good as everyone seems to proclaim he is. I have Never been a big fan of our Punter. Now I see one of the best punters in the NFL over the past few years, Marquette King, has been released from Oakland. I hope that Pace signs this guy!

So the Bears have re-signed CB Marcus Cooper and long snapper Patrick Scales. I think we will probably see 2 OL and at least one pick on the defensive front seven in our first four picks. We could use another body at safety and WR, but the front seven and the OL are the obvious places that still need upgrades. I wouldn't be shocked to see us take 3 OL if you include the 5th round or later.

For sake of being realistic, lets use only up to 2 trades. I started out trying to fill BPA scenario and this is what I ended up with. I traded back with ARI for the 15th, round 2 and 3 picks I then traded back to 18 with SEA for a coupld extra picks in the 4th and 5th. The Bears have a lot of holes left to fill, and they won't be able to fill them all through the draft. The Bears will probably sign a couple more free agents before the draft. Here are the positions we still need a player in, not in order of necessity: DE, OLB, ILB, S, CB OC/OG, OT, WR The first draft pick is going to solidify one of those positions. It will either go to the offensive line, or to the defense. If it goes offense, it will be Quentin Nelson OG from ND.
