Just wondering if anyone read Michael Lewis' book The Blind Side? Offensive tackle Michael Oher from Ole Miss (who just declared for the draft yesterday) is apparently featured prominently in the book as the "perfect left tackle on paper" and the book talks a lot about his story. Any reviews (of the book or the player)?

So the jets traded for Darnold. Is Bridgewater too expensive to keep now?. And does that put eight into play? If one of the top five is available at eight should the Bears offer Foles and picks for the pick? Foles would be a good backup for Darnold who should be given the starting job. Unless they are doing a total QB reset and see Darnold as a backup. High price to pay though.

Reading some of the articles before, during, and after the competition the same thing keeps jumping out at me. -Which guy will best manage the offense -which guy is the safest choice -which guy is less likely to turn the ball over -which guy will make the fewest mistakes -which guy presents the lowest risk What we are really doing is playing not to lose and from that perspective which guy fits that bill. The staff knows our offense is crap, our line is crap, our receivers would at best be backups on most rosters, our QB's would likely be backups elsewhere (making it a competition to see which backup quality QB should be our starter). The only offensive…

So I’m perusing multiple media site; the growing sentiment is that this season is strictly about Fields’ development. Article upon article mainly focusing on his week to week growth. I’m starting to feel like the narrative is that a losing season is acceptable as long as Justin develops. I’m not sure this sits well with me. Pace and Nagy should be held for the collective performance.Nagy on delivery of yet another lower third offense, not acceptable if you are hired with a background on that side of the ball. Pace for continuing to ignore the trenches, which is the foundation for winning programs. I fear George is going to buy this storyline and just chalk the season up t…

I read somewhere that Cutler is like 15-1 when his team (The Broncos) hold the other team to 21 points or less. Now if our defense contuniues like it has the last five yeares will have a great chance for many winning seasons. These are the scoring precentages over the last 5 years. 2004 Offense scoring per game 14.4, Defensive points allowed 20.6, record 5-11 2005 Offense scoring per game 16.2, Defensive points allowed 12.6, record 11-5 playoffs 2006 Offense scoring per game 26.6, Defensive points allowed 15.8, record 13-3 Superbowl 2007 Offense scoring per game 20.8, Defensive points allowed 21.7, record 7-9 2008 Offense scoring per game …

This was done with the Bears, at times, inept offense over the last few seasons. From the Bears website: http://www.chicagobears.com/news/ChalkTalk...p?story_id=7716 I keep hearing that Greg Olsen is no longer a threat in the passing game. But didn’t he lead the Bears in receiving touchdowns again in 2010? Roger W. Iowa Yes, Greg Olsen tied Johnny Knox for the Bears lead with five touchdown receptions in 2010. Olsen also topped the Bears with five TD catches in 2008 and eight in 2009. Olsen’s 20 career TD receptions are the second most by a Bears tight end, trailing Hall of Famer Mike Ditka’s 34. Olsen’s 18 touchdown receptions the past three …

The question is valid. Opposite of Hicks is a void with minimal production and average promise. I think 3-4DE is more of a need than OLB. Nobody even really knows who the starter is there for 2019. I’d love to see Jerry Tillery slip because of off-field concerns. He could be great in the role.

https://twitter.com/ZachZaidman/status/638133068407140353 We must be posturing for the #1 pick, this is getting ridiculous. Jennings cut, Mundy on IR, secondary getting really thin.

It should be a signal that a lot of changes are needed. The offense needs changes. The defense needs changes. The special teams need(s) changes. Most of all, however... The coaching staff needs changes. This should be the sign to all that Lovie, Babich, and Turner need to get the axe. Babich ESPECIALLY needs to be fired. The game was a travesty, and there is no way a team that played this poorly can be the result of good coaching.

As Sun times pointed out, KC Joyner (ESPN) had a Q & A, and there were a lot of Bears questions he answered. - Cutler - This guy is not a fan, at all. Said Cutler throws a lot of picks, and actually compares him to Rex. While I think most agree he is aggressive, I think there are two key points missing. One. Due to Denver's issues last year, they were forced into being a very pass oriented team. While they may be a passing team anyway, I think they were forced to pass more than they would have liked due to (a) RB injuries and ( awful defense forcing the O to play from behind. When you are playing from behind, and having to pass a ton, you are forced to be m…

I realize that we've already past the trade deadline, but I think its time to take a look at the future of this Bears team. One of the first names that comes to my mind is the wiley veteran, Olin Kreutz. Should we start to go another direction as we work on rebuilding our line? Could he be able to help us land an extra 3rd round pick in a trade? Would Josh Beekman (the so called guy grooming for the job) be a solid center. Essentially, should we trade Kreutz in the off-season for a 3rd or 4th pick, move Beekman to Center and than spend the money saved (plus whats in our coffers) for a big time tackle (or just find a real good RT if we think Williams can pla…

I think the McCaskeys need to contact Ted Thompson, Scott Pioli, Bill Polian, or even Bill Parcells to be President and run football operations. Ted Philllips can stay as VP and head of accounting. I would hate to see George McCaskey and Ted Phillips make irrational decisions and put this franchise in a deeper hole. This starts at the top, from allowing the Angelo/Lovie era to leave this team with no youth. To forcing the next head coach to keep Maranneli (who left anyways) or running his defensive scheme. It has been a circus of clowns going back to nearly 1985 with a team that has not prioritized the important keys to being competitive (QB, LOT, DE, CB). When was t…

"How many different ways can you say, 'What were they thinking?' " a team executive who declined to be identified said after being told the terms of Asomugha's three-year, $45 million contract.
