If the season ended today, the Bears would have the 6th pick, tied with NYG and SEA, so they would rotate picks every round. So they lost a 1st and 4th for Fields, and 7th with Miller, and got back a 5th for Miller. Since HOU is terrible, that ends up as a very high 5th. The Bears got Borom and Herbert in the 5th last year. With the following picks, I would love to see the new GM move down on either Pick 37 or 71 and pick up a 4th rounder. That would give them 5 picks in the top 150, which is decent. With those 5 picks, you get a WR1, CB2, C, S, and BPA (WR, CB, or ILB). I would be happy with a draft like that. They would still have a solid 6th rounder to use a…

  3. Our effective rookie salary pool is about 3.1M which means we are just under 8M in available cap space to use on FA (or resigning existing players). That is more money than I thought. I presume we will keep some in reserve for in-season need signings (as long as use some of the space on future extensions) but I also am guessing when vets get cut we will be in a pretty good position.

Thru the early games today, here is the current Draft Order. The Bears are literally in no man's land at #16. They also will be the only team in the NFL with exactly a .500 record thru Week 11. So depending on how things go, the Bears are only 1.5 games away from a top 10 pick and a game out of the last wild card spot. Not only that, if they somehow beat the Packers next week, they would only be a game back in the division. So next week the season is literally on the line in so many different ways. A win and the Bears actually put themselves in a pretty good spot for a playoff berth. Mainly because the two teams the Bears are chasing play each other twice (ARZ/LAR).…

I am just going to keep this running until the end of the season. I know we still have a statistical chance at making the playoffs, but unless Detroit loses 2 of their last 4 and we win out, it's over. Don't get me wrong, I would much rather have a 10-6 finish, beating GB and sliding in as DET folds, players get healthy, and we make a surprise run. Right now, Houston is #1 at 2-10 with #2-5 teams at 3-9. Minnesota is 6th after Sunday's win. Buffalo and Cleveland are #7-8 at 4-8. Then there is a logjam at 5-7 with 6 teams from #9-14. GB is alone at #15, and then we are grouped with the other 6-6 teams (#16-18). However, one of them is currently a WC team, so we…

Based on current contracts for 2015, the following personnel are under contract for 2015. Projecting moves to Practice Squad, but not considering current roster cuts, it looks like we will need: (1x QB, 1x RB/FB, 1x WR, 1x TE, 1x OL, 2x DL, 2x LB, 2x CB, 2x S, 1x LS). Does that look about right? Who do you want to see cut, and how many of these 43 make the 53 man roster? Offense - (20): QB - (2) Cutler Fales RB - (3) Forte Carey Perry WR - (5) Marshall Jeffery Wilson Bellamy Mariani Chiles (Res/Fut) TE - (2) Bennett Annen OL - (8) Bushrod Long Mills Garza Slauson Leno Ola Groy Defense - (23): D…

So here is the current estimated available cap for teams with over $10M in effective cap space. These teams are really the only ones that could sign a player to a decent contract without other cap restructuring. If you consider you need $5M for rookie pool and $5-10M for operating money for the year, The Bears, Falcons, and Packers are really the only teams with room to sign players to a deal that is over $7M AAV. There are still several players left like that. The Bears could sign 2 of them and still have the most cap space. So Poles is not done yet.

Reading this article about Curtis Johnson and hearing about how Loggains is very upbeat and energetic it is clear our sideline is not going to be a quiet boring place like it often was under Trestman. Curtis Johnson brings the same meticulous detail that Trestman had but with a whole lot more energy and discipline behind it. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0611-story.html

Benson has been a total waste which ive preached since the day he was drafted. He's slow, a pussy, has poor work ethic and from what we read his teammates hate his ass. I know the draft is a crap shoot but well have to take the chance hes an instant upgrade to the friggin Bass. And from the other post about him losing a step... wow how much slower could he possibly get. Haha. Well have to shore up the Oline with FA, take some guys who fall into the later rounds. Heres my mock Bears 1.Mendenhall 2.Flacco 2. (3rd+3rd)Best Tackle/Guard available or Josh Barrett 4. Best OL

Trade bait: Roster cuts from 80 to 75 are due Tuesday and teams are beginning to call around to see what might be available. A league source said the Bears have informed other clubs that running back Garrett Wolfe and safety Al Afalava could be traded. That doesn't mean they will be or they're destined to be released, but the fishing line has been cast. Wolfe is in competition with Kahlil Bell for the third running back job. Bell has been staying after practice to get extra special teams work in this week. The third running back must be a four-phase special teams contributor and Wolfe has been a good one. "It's definitely a different type of challenge, tryi…

  19. Cutler has officially announced his retirement. He'll focus on his new reality show and I presume persue his career calling football games on Fox. I actually really look forward to hearing him call games. I think he's going to do a fantastic job. Was really bummed when he signed with Miami last year (right before he was going to call one of our preseason games).

Since week 1 Cutler is 66-93 for 624 yards 8td's(1rush) I INT for a QB rating of 109.7 and comp pct of 70.9%. Its amazing how much the media was bashing him after the GB game and now all of sudden there tone is completely different lol.
