I have mentioned my opinion on players on other posts, but might as well put it all in one spot. offense: QB Cutler, he is who he is, a 15-20 rated QB prone to TOs. I think the only reason he will be around is because there is not much in options. Fales, anybody here think he is a future star? I dont RB-Carey, he may have some valve going forward, but I dont think he will ever be a star. Forte is a 30 year old star, but anybody think he will still be playing at a high lever 3 years from now? TE- Bennett is an above average player ready to turn 29, we have nothing b…

Per Jayson Braddock on Twitter. Bears have called, as have Eagles. Surely we would have to throw something else in in a Kaep for Cutler trade?

@patrickfinley: Interesting that John Fox today said Alshon Jeffery was overweight at times last year. @ianrappaport Jay Cutler met with #Bears personnel without his agent as deadline approached for guaranteed money in 2016. Team left convinced he’s the guy and are now considered fanboys @adamjahns #Bears coach John Fox said Shea McClellin will get first look at inside linebacker in 3-4. He said he was high on him coming out in draft.

  8. I keep hearing the rumblings about the Titans taking Mariota #2. If they do, I wonder what they would want for Mettenberger? I would prefer him to pretty much any QB left in the draft, and he's the kind of big, strong-armed, pocket passer I would think Fox/Gase would prefer (see Brock Osweiler). If we don't think Cutler is long for this team, I wonder if it would be worth trading a draft pick for Mettenberger as a Cutler contingency plan and QB of the future. He was a 6th rounder last year (5 spots in front of Fales), but you can't get him for that now. I guess this hinges on how the new regime feels about Fales, but it seems like something that would be worth a call…

Were getting down to the nitty gritty, and its time to see how smart we are. We all dream about what we want but the reality will be quite different, so I will lay out what i think will happen. First round trade: Cooper, Beasley, and Fowler are gone. I think someone wants Kevin White (who is still on the board), so we trade back. St Louis Rams are going for it with a top defense they trade up for a stud WR for there new QB Foles. We get there first 13 and second 41. The valve chart is within 100 points. 13: We grab Danny Shelton/NT- he has valve down from 7 and fills a need. 39: Nelson Agholor/WR- add a quality wide out 41: Preston Smith/ DE…

Player, Pos, College, (Big Board Rank) L. Collins OT LSU (18) T. Clemmings OT Pitt (50) G. Jarrett DT Clem (60) B. Hundley QB UCLA (63) B. Petty QB Baylor (73) J. Shaw CB USC (87) M. Hardison DT Arz St (101) R. Nunez-Roches DT S. Miss (104) I. Ekpre-Olomu CB Ore (109) D. Smith FS Fres (110) With such an early pick in the round, I don't see Pace deviating from his current draft mentality. With that, a few of these guys should be available with the 7th pick in the round. If they are not sold on Petty or Hundley, I would go Smith/Shaw/Ekpre and pray for Ryan in the 5th. So it would either be CB-LB-S or S-LB-Other in the last 3 rounds.

For this draft to be an upgrade from past drafts. Pick 1. A no brainer once Cooper and Williams were gone. However, anything less then a B. Marshall career will turn what could be a great pick into just another Bears failure at first round WR's. 2. Filled the biggest need on D with a better be starter day one. Meaning he will start on first downs and running downs first year. Will rotate with a few others but should be our Wilfork for the next ten years or another bust. 3. A mild manner Krutz. He won't punch out team mates only opposing tackles. May start year one or learn for a year then a ten year anchor. Same as Goldman. …

  14. Spent the evening and I layed out the Bears current roster with their contracts expiration dates to get a look at needs. As I see it now, if no major injury takes place, the Bears may sit on the remaining cap to lock up Alshon Jeffery. Depending how the season plays out, the Bears will have major needs in the following: Defense 3-4 DE - McDonald, Jenkins, and Ratliff contract expires. That will leave Furguson, Sutton, Washington, and Dunn NT- Depth will be needed behind Goldman CB-Fuller on one end, Jennings I see as a nickel leaves finding a long term man cover CB a big need S-Mundys contract expires, depth behind Vereen and Amos will be a need OLB is locked …

I personally believe all is not so bleak in the Bears future as many seem to think. I have seen this type of post elsewhere, I believe back on Bearstalk.com, but I thought it would be worth mentioning again. Since the year 2000 only one team losing the SB game has returned to the playoffs, and that was a 9-7 Seattle team that made the playoffs because of an extremely weak division, otherwise it would have been 8 out of 8 failing to return. Only one team, OAK, followed up their SB loss with 2 dismal seasons back to back. Not a surprise seeing the moves OAK has made over the past few years. I feel the Bears are much better than many believe. With a return …

I tried to include most of the top picks, even though most would be out of reach for the Bears with their current position. Which player would be the biggest upgrade over the current player? McFadden over Benson? Ryan over Grossman? Dorsey over DT2 rotation? Long/Clady over Miller? Sweed over Berrian? 10 choices was the max, so there may be other players that are not listed.

Last week, Jerry Angelo promised that the coming offseason would bring greater dedication to offensive talent and a close examination of the offensive game philosophy the Bears have displayed under this current regime and the previous 60+ years. Face it, Ron Turner ain't leavin'. But I can handle him sticking around if he can change his offensive scheme to be more aggressive and Lovie's "Get off the bus running" attitude has to bend more as well. The flavor of the day in the NFL is to be a "Pass first" offense. The top two teams in each conference (NE Pats, Indy Colts, Dallas Cowboys, and GB Packers) are ranked 1-4 in the league in passing. New England, the "Perfect…

I'm rather astounded there hasn't been more "love" for Adrian Peterson. AP is a complete back. He's a good receiver and he's a good blocker. He's also a "power runner" which is supposed to be ideal for Turner's system. He'd never be a pro-bowler, but he demonstrated that's he's easily the best running back on this team. While some are demanding that Orton should be the #1 QB next season, where's the love for AP? IMO AP should be named the #1 ASAP. The sad truth is, I don't see us bringing in anyone else. I'd love for us to dump Benson (today on the SCORE I heard him say that he wasn't going to do anything different this offseason . . . what a jack-ass.) There…

The Miami Dolphins will most likely look to trade out of the #1 pick for the draft. Bill Parcells is shaking things up and will look to move his defensive philosphy into Miami. With that being said, the consensus top pick of Glen Dorsey DT LSU will not fit into that system. Darren McFadden RB could also be a top pick, but Miami has Ronnie Brown who was tearing it up before he got injured. Then you have Jake Long OLT Mich and Chris Long DE Virg., both of these guys would be better off as there pick, but I see Parcell's looking to add more pieces to fill more holes. Here's were the Bears come in. If Chicago were to trade there #1-14 and #2-44, the trade would almo…
