Cedric Benson told reporters he would have 1,800 yards right now if he was running through the holes that Matt Forte has been running through in Chicago. He has a better chance at 1,800 DWIs. Wherever he goes, the holes seem to close much more quickly. Using his career 3.6 yards per carry, it would take the delusional Benson exactly 500 carries to reach his lofty projections.

ok, yes i am a Patriot homer, but here is how i would at least attemp to turn our beloved Bears around (although it would never happen) Fire GM and coaches. Hire Scott Pioli as GM, Josh McDaniels (NE O Coord.) as head coach...let them hire the rest of the staff. Sign Matt Cassel. We need to turn this franchise in a new direction and i think those are the guys to do it. What say you

It seems that the coaching staff has decided that Olsen is a mismatch in certain situations, and those are the situations in which he'll be used. However, they have yet to explore the type of routes I saw Owen Daniels use against the Bears today. Like a person first learning how to play chess, Turner sticks with what has worked before, seemingly never learning from his mistakes. Frankly, I'm amazed that any team in the league doesn't know that when the Bears are near the goal-line they are planning on spreading out Olsen and throwing either the jump-ball, fade, or slant to him simply because he is taller. The Texans' DBs showed today that taller is not all you nee…

ESPN and the Sun Times did a bit of Salary Cap work for the NFC North. Below are the figures for the four teams: Detroit: $26.8 million Minnesota: $20.4 million Green Bay: $19.09 million Chicago: $17.4 million These numbers do not reflect cap credits each team will get, including as much as $9m we are due to receive in credit for CB Marcus Hamilton. $9m for Hamilton? Wow. So we are looking at about $26M, and you can bet the others will be due increases also. What I didn't feel was mentioned much though was how each team is set up entering FA in terms of current players the team needs to sign. The bears have the following players due to hit …

I guess he's interviewing today, but odds are extremely unlikely that he'd accept the job. According to his agent, there's no way: http://www.collegefootballtalk.com/2009/02...r-to-pitt-talk/ While it would be utterly awesome if he excepted this job, it seems like the only way is if Wanny offers some sexual favors and he gets a nice big 3-4 year contract, which would make no sense for Pitt. However, it would be awesome if he did get the job, we bring in a new OC from the outside, and bring in a whole new offensive staff.

I know we like St. Clair, but we do like OT's with bad backs. This was from PFT: BARNES WON’T BE A RAIDER, AFTER ALL Posted by Mike Florio on March 7, 2009, 9:50 a.m. So much for those reports that free-agent tackle Khalif Barnes was set to sign with the Oakland Raiders. According to the San Francisco Chronicle and other publications, the deal has fallen apart. Per David White of the Chronicle, all talks between Barnes’ agent, Kenny Zuckerman, and the Raiders are now off. Barnes is now close to signing with an undisclosed team. As White points out, the collapse of the deal could push the Raiders back to free-agent tackle Marvel Smith of the Stee…

EAGLES CONTINUING TALKS WITH FULLBACK Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 12, 2009, 12:08 p.m. The Philadelphia Eagles are negotiating with Seattle Seahawks free agent fullback Leonard Weaver, with talks currently in the preliminary stage, according to Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer. A team source said that negotiations aren't serious yet. Weaver's agent, Harold Lewis, had a similar take on the situation. Right now, we're just talking, Lewis told the Inquirer. We're talking with many other teams as well. There's a lot of interest because Leonard is the No. 1 fullback on the board. He's definitely not the average bear. He's an excellent recei…

I've been thinking about posting thoughts on the effect signing Cutler will have on the Bears. Here are my thoughts: Offense: The effect here is obvious. He has all the tools, mobility included. He'll stretch the field with his arm allowing Turnwer to call any play he wants. Forte and Co. will have more room to run, as a result of a softer box. Lastly, Cutler will have to accounted for when designing pass rushes, as he will dangerous out of the pocket. Defense: Lovie will be able to release the hounds in various ways knowing he has a QB that can put numbers on the board. Also, with an improved running comes greater time of possession, keeping the defense…

  19. We made it to the superbowl last year with Lovie, Turner, and Rivera as the main coaches. Now, this year we lose Rivera and bring in Babich and on paper this current team looked better than last years. As we all have seen, this team has regressed from years previous and there are reasons for it but It seems everyone is overlooking the coaches, and blaming it on the offensive line, and Cedric Benson. Remember this summer? Remember John Clayton reporting on ESPN that Hester reminds him of Steve Smith with his receiver abilities and the way he has looked in camp? Remember hearing about how Olsen's athletiscm and his play making ability will help Rex Grossman immensely?…
