Looks like Bennett is gone

I know there are varying opinions on whether the Bears should spend the #3 pick on a QB. I also know there are a ton of mocks that have the QBs going all over the place. Often I've seen a "top 3" QB drop into the second round. Assuming the Bears pass on QB in the 1st, and one of the top 3 QBs slide, is it a guarantee that the Bears pick said QB if he fell to them? If somehow Trubisky (highly unlikely), Watson (unlikely), or Kizer (fairly unlikely) fell to the Bears in the 2nd round, I think it's a 100% guarantee that the Bears would have to draft said QB. Agree?

ESPN is reporting that Dante Fowler Jr has suffered a knee injury at rookie mini camp. Exact details have not been disclosed.

The staff & JA has indicated they want Tait to move back to RT & they want Chris Williams to stick with his natural position, LT. That's great. (Assuming Williams doesn't suck. With rookies, you never can tell). They've also indicated they like St. Clair as the starting LG. That's great also. He looked solid there. What will keep me awake at night is this: Who is our back-up LT??? The easy answer is Tait, but then that would require moving St. Clair back to RT, and moving Metcalf/Beekman or some other crappy player in LG. That's WAY too many moves. Basically we need a solid LT who can complete with Williams or fill in the back-up role.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the guy. He's a heartless robot. His teams run up the score and he's been caught cheating. But damn, I look at the scoreboard every week and it doesn't seem to matter how much talent he has left on the field. He loses his QB, no biggie. They march on. His won/loss record has to be right up there. He's won a number of championships and had the undefeated season going last year until the final game. I think his legacy is tainted by the cheating thing and the biggest choke of all time losing last year, but he's probably still going to finish up his career thought of as the best ever. What do you guys think and what would you do? On the plus side, he's a dumbass who has really been lazy the past couple years. Yes, he's played through an "injury", but he has skipped treatments in the past and just doesn't seam to get it. We'd also save money by cutting him as he's in a series of one year deals so there wouldn't be any cap rammifications, other than saving a few mill in current payroll (which could help the Bears cover the costs of firing Lovie and hiring someone else!!) I liked his defensive style in Baltimore, and supposedly he is an offensive coach. Probly could get him for cheaper than some of the other guys out there. He's been to a Super Bowl. Check check. I'm sure there are some down sides that some of you may know better than I--would be interested to hear.

I keep reading reports and articles about this Bolt guy. I know he's the fastest man in the world, and it doesn't appear to be close. His races have been amazing, and his size is impressive. The thing is, I keep hearing/reading stuff about this guy becoming an NFL receiver. For instance: Bolt as a WR. What do you guys make of the idea? Willie Gault turned out pretty good for the Bears. Imagine a guy who is not only easily faster than gault, but also bigger and stronger? I don't think the Bears should do it considering their WR logjam, but it's an interesting idea. Nobody in the NFL could cover him one-on-one.

Williams' Bear Debut May Be Near According to an article in the Chicago Sun-Times we may see Williams on the field a lot sooner than many of us thought. Now I see why they kept him on the roster. I doubt we see him as a starter until after our bye week but according to the article we might see him test the waters a few snaps before the bye.

Our WR corps was a big problem going into this draft but I must say I am very pleased with this pick. I know a lot of us would have preferred Doucet but I think Bennett is exactly the type of WR we needed. Good hands, good route runner, tough, not afraid to go over the middle, good blocker. Thats exactly what we needed. We have our burners in Hester and Bradley and we have our bigger targets for the most part in Olsen and Clark, or even Monk or that other TE we drafted but we needed a guy like this.
