  1. Your guys opinion, I'll stay out of this one, on what you think is going on. Has Cutler finally got it or is the Defense weak enough in the secondary and linebacker to let him to continue on interception free after 11 days?

Copart49 hasn't rejoined yet. We still have space for 2 more if anyone is interested. Does anyone have times to avoid for the draft? If you work on the weekend, you may have to autodraft, but I'm willing to try and accomodate people as long as it doesn't get too complicated. Looking for feedback guys.

  4. Simeon Rice Still Wants To Play Football Posted by Mike Florio on May 5, 2009, 5:52 a.m. Former NFL defensive end Simeon Rice still wants to be something other than a former NFL defensive end. After being out of the game for an entire season, Rice still wants to play. In a recent interview with WQYK radio in Tampa, Rice asserts that he can still get it done. “Right now, if I was to put on a helmet, I’m automatically in the top five in this league at that spot,” Rice said. “I want to say I’m the number one guy, I’m the king, baby. But I’m not gonna say that because that’s always an earned spot. So I’m humble enough to say, ‘You know what? I gott…

Could disappoint in '09 Chicago Bears Why the pessimism? Believe it or not, the Bears had the third-worst pass defense in the league last year ... at least yardagewise (241.2 yards per game). They were fifth overall in stopping the run, which is a pretty wide gulf. Even with the arrival of Jay Cutler, I'm just not sure if the Bears offense is going to be significantly better this season since he doesn't have any reliable receivers to throw to. In other words, we could be in for more of the same. And oh, by the way ... Chicago only registered one special teams touchdown last season, which is certainly far less than we're accustomed to seeing from them. Worst-ca…

  7. Just a thought here but with all the upbeat chat about Rideau and Aromashodu playing so well it's obvious Rashied Davis has not stood out in camp. Reality is that QBs decide where they are throwing the ball. Of course if the OC doesn't like the reads the QB is taking some risks but right now Cutler isn't worried about his job security. I'm just wondering if Cutler sees the athletic ability and potential of a guy like DA and is he just giving him as many chances as possible to make him successful at the expense of Rashied Davis? Consider that we have so many inexperienced WR and Davis knows our system very well. You'd think this situation would lead to Davis s…

Chicago It seemed that the bears were content to run a small set of plays to build on field chemistry. I didn't notice a lot of two tight end sets or Olsen in the slot or lined up on the outside. I mention these because I see those two sets doing well against Green Bay on Sunday. Green Bay Going to a 3/4 defense is tough having run something different the year before. First: New personel to fit the defense means decrease in team chemistry. This helps our running game due to the changes in the middle. I know Raji looked decent in the preseason but I like our chances up the middle. Perfect time to play green bay in green bay is the first game of the yea…

The past TC showed us that Cutler had a preference for Brandon Rideau and Devin Aromashodu and during the first game Rideau was on his couch and DA was inactive I guess with Davis getting some playing time. Why would they decide to play Davis over DA?

So often we ask whether the QB makes the WR or the other way around. W/o saying this is evidence for the question as a whole, how about this for our specific element of the question. Johnny Knox, a 5th round pick rookie from a small school has 8 catches for 152 yards and 1 TD. Brandon Marshall has 7 catches for 61 yards and no scores. Eddie Royal has 5 catches for 38 yards and no scores. In Denver, w/ Cutler, Marshall and Royal were an elite WR combination. Royal was a rookie, but played beyond his years and experience while Marshall was seen as one of the top 5 WRs in the game. W/ Cutler, these two WRs are not even worth a flex start on a FF roster…

BackHomeSearch Sports Memo to Bears, Cutler: Go for it! Conservative play-calling on winning drive a downer CommentsSeptember 22, 2009BY CAROL SLEZAK Sun-Times ColumnistIhate to complain after a big Bears win, or for that matter after any Bears win, but what about that final drive? Was anyone else frustrated by the conservative play-calling down the stretch? The game was tied and the Bears had the ball at their 33-yard line with just over three minutes left, and -- silly me -- I expected them to go for it. Isn't that why they brought Jay Cutler to town? Any quarterback can hand the ball off to a running back for a one-yard gain. Any quarterback can …

Did anyone else have flashbacks of Jimmy Mac when Jay dove for the end zone from two yards out? We have a QB who is athletic and has a cannon, who can beat you multiple ways.

They are done. Cutler killed us tonight. The defense actually played ok but they cannot dig themselves out of this hole. Way too many injuries. This is not our season. Time to see the younger players so they get game experience. Peace

He had a great game catching the ball and the blocking was very good for him (over 100 yds in receiving). The offense did do a very good job on screens tonight. I saw great blocking from Kruetz. Garza, and Bennett. Peace

This hasn't been talked about, but does anyone think that we've seen the end of Pace. Shaffer came in against the 49ers because Pace got the "wind knocked out of him". I'm not buying that.

There is an interesting article on NFL.com about Free Agency in an uncapped year and how it is not going to be lucrative for players and the new rules for FA that are involved. It seems to me it might make it even more difficult to obtain key FAs to rebuild an OL which is what we so desperately need. NFL.com Article on 2010 Free Agency with Uncapped Year
