Bearstalk

Are you a diehard Chicago Bears fan? If so, you've found the spot to discuss all things Chicago Bears. Discuss the Monster of the Midway right here as the Bears look to get back on track in 2024 and take the North and never give it back! Flaming is not allowed and all such posts will be deleted. Try to keep it clean and most importantly BEAR DOWN! #BEARS #CHICAGOBEARS #BEARDOWN

Recession won't affect Bears by Mike Mulligan Sun-Times This has some good info to ponder during this offseason until FA 1 - Sources don't think the Bears will have a pass rusher as a top priority 2 - Turner will like to see WR and depth at Oline as priorities. 3 - Bears might be looking for a CB in draft - moving either Tillman/Graham to FS?

I saw 3 different mock drafts today from 3 different places and they all have Shaq Lawson going to the Bears at #11. The 3 have nothing in common so I gotta think where there is smoke there is fire. The 3 sources were an ESPN countable, Peter King, and Dan Pompei. ESPN was broadcast but here's what King and Pompei had to say: Peter King: 11. Chicago: Shaq Lawson, DE/OLB, Clemson. Keep hearing the Bears will go defense here, and if this scenario holds, I guarantee either GM Ryan Pace or coach John Fox, or both, will say post-first-round: “We never thought he’d be sitting there at our pick.” So many people I spoke with love Lawson’s effort, and think his first-step…

  3. This article is one of my favorites in a series of articles that the Sun-Times has been running Pro Bowl WR not needed for Super Bowl winners In it there is this quote: It also quotes an article from John Clayton of ESPN where he says he feels JA & LS rank #4 in the NFL as GM/HC Combos: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor...&id=4336648

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/ChalkTalk...p?story_id=6571 February 23, 2010 Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of email questions from fans every day on ChicagoBears.com. Do you think the Bears will play Frank Omiyale at guard or tackle this season? Ryan T. Lemont, Illinois I think that depends on what the Bears do in free agency and the draft to upgrade their offensive line. If they sign or draft a tackle who can contribute this season, I could see Frank Omiyale remaining at guard. But if they bolster their line with an inside player, I think Omiyale could play…

That the Giants are in the Superbowl. We should have beat the piss out of them when we played. We started off on fire using the hurry up and then just stopped using it. I was very pissed off after that game. I hope that the Superbowl is a good game. Werid question : Has anyone been kicked out of Soliders Field?

One veteran lineman definitely won't be back as guard Terrence Metcalf requested and was granted his release. A third-round pick in 2002, Metcalf made 25 starts for the Bears. He signed a six-year, $12.2 million contract in 2006 and was expected to start at left guard last season before arthroscopic knee surgery in training camp opened the door for Josh Beekman. Newly signed free agent Frank Omiyale is expected to take over at left guard. The Bears had hoped to carry Metcalf at least through training camp and the preseason, but they have more depth with veteran Dan Buenning and starting right guard Roberto Garza, so they allowed Metcalf to depart now to find a new te…

At least Martz did something once upon a time. Tice was the offensive line coach for a Vikings team that never accomplished anything. He was unspectacular as the Vikings head coach and bad as the Jaguars offensive coordinator. The offensive line has, if possible, gotten worse under Tice and Tice has given every indication that this is the group he wanted to go to war with. Part of his job is to prepare the offensive line to perform on game day, and he has shown no ability to do that. Do the players have to perform? Absolutely. But I've seen no indication that he has had any kind of positive impact on this team. Time to clean house, boys. Get rid of Tice…

No one has mentioned it on here so I thought I would bring it up. Eddie Royal commented after signing with the Bears that Cutler recruited him to come to the Bears. One example of him being a leader, Derrick Rose has refused to recruit which I think is stupid. He also said something along the lines that Cutler was a good leader in Denver. Christian Jones said something along the lines that Kyle Long and Jay Cutler were the two guys that first came to him after signing with the Bears as an undrafted free agent. I cant remember exactly what he said but it had something to do with him being a leader. I know Cutler does not have the body language…

It's been awhile! I had to take some time off from any kind of Bearstalk. I was so frustrated with Bears management and CO. last year that I had to recharge my batteries. I missed some members, especially the old guards of BearsTalk. I hope they are still here and active in this forum. I do have some reservations on this up comming season. We all know that they need quality starting players on offense and a couple on defense. But their coaching staff is in need of repair also. Can you remember any olinemen that was drafted and has become a good consistant starter ? I can't ? How about QB's ,Wr's, and rb's ? We do have a shot at TE if they don't have him put on x…

have we had in the past 3 weeks??? Has to be around 25. Offside penalties are a friggin joke. T Harris goes offside almost every game. Personal foul penalty on Miller - really nice. He should be benched for that crap. I don't want to see him play another down. Peace

As much as I hate to say it. Even though it seems that Bear mgnt seems to differ. I'm a big koolaid drinker but so far this season does not look good. Our first 4 games are toughest part of the season and so far we are 1-2. We could have been 3-0. With that said 0-3 was also a possibility but were lucky enough that the colts had some key injuries and manning (rusty) looked like Orton sunday running for his life. This sunday we maybe get lucky if Philly (who had a big win against Pitt and has a divisional game with the redskins in 2 weeks) have a let down. Our defense at times have looked great early in games setting the tone, getting turnovers leav…

    1. Eben Britton, RT, Arizona ---Shaffer? Great. He isn't the long term answer, though. 2. Paul Kruger, DE, Utah ---Good against the run and can get to the QB some, too. 3. Brandon Gibson, WR, Washington State ---It's been said the FO likes this guy. 3. David Bruton, FS, Notre Dame ---Smart player and big hitter to compete with Bullocks. 4. Asher Allen, CB, Georgia ---We need CB's after Bowman's been moved to S. 5. Marko Mitchell, WR, Nevada ---Big WR at 6'4, 213 who is a good blocker. 6. Tony Fiammetta, FB, Syracuse ---Arguably the best FB in the draft. 7. Mike Reilly, QB, Central Washington ---To compete with Hanie for the #2 job. 7. John…

  15. He didn't directly say it, but reading between the lines, it would appear that the QB was calling an awful lot of pass plays vs. rushes. I still then say, who was not calling the deep balls in the first 5 games cause that certainly wouldn't appear to be Jay's style. I wonder when we see Trestman get more involved in the play calling. Remember, last year he called the plays and this year I believe it is Kromer. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/30556527-41...ml#.VEaGk_nF92I

  16. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/12/16/gab...g-hasnt-worked/ Fantastic article with a lot of insight he has collected from his contacts in the organization. I highlighted a couple key quotes below but this really is a must read and Gabriel hits everything right on the head. I keep saying, a lot of stories are going to come out when the Trestman era ends and they aren't going to be flattering.

Fabian C. Gilroy, California If I was a coach from the opposing team, yeah, I would kick to him. You can’t let one guy take you out of your game plan. I’d have a hard time going in and telling my team, “Hey, this guy is so good we’re not going to kick to him,” so yeah, I would. Of course, it’s easy for me to say that. Translation: “Other coaches have no guts. They back away and let one man beat them …

A small quote from the article now posted on the Bears site: I know they said he was working on his kickoffs but wow, 7 yds deep into the end zone with 4.2 hang time. Now that is awesome. Our kickoff coverage guys will have an easy time being number one in the league if Robbie can deliver like that on a regular basis.
