  1. Some trolls here are having a sad. On the other hand, real fans can take heart in the team showing improvement each week. Frankly they looked better against the Packers in week 1 than expected and then had a few games where they looked like last year's version of the Bears. Recently they've played some teams who, like themselves, aren't in the top tier of the league. But a road win is solid regardless of the opponent. And the manner in which they've won the last two games has been impressive no matter if you love Jay or not. Putting together those "captain comeback" type of drives are exactly why the Bears paid him the big bucks. Unfortunately he can't pull a w…

College Quarterbacks Love Bears Rookie Wide Receivers Posted May 13, 2009 3:00PM By Matt Snyder (RSS feed) After the Bears landed Jay Cutler in early April, the focus of many fans and media alike shifted to the receiving corps. Devin Hester, Rashied Davis and Earl Bennett will need some help, and no one can doubt that. Since then, the Bears have seen Torry Holt sign with the Jags, not traded for Anquan Boldin -- probably because they don't have enough to offer -- and drafted three second-day wide receivers. Over the course of the past week, the Chicago Tribune has conducted interviews with the three respective quarterbacks of the three drafted wideouts. As…

It seems like everyone is waiting for Holt to be released, which is most likely to happen soon. As I understand it, he is due to receive about $1.5m in bonus money on 3/17, and Stl is expected to cut him prior to that, but should we wait? The top reason he has not drawn trade intest is his contract. I think his 2009 base salary is in the neighborhood of $6.5m, and when you add the bonus, his salary/cap hit for 2009 is quite high. This has prevented teams for looking to trade for him, even though Stl is reportely only looking for a mid/late day two pick in return. But I am reading about more and more teams who are interested in him, and will likely make a ru…

  7. Lions WR Nate Burleson is guaranteeing a victory over the 8-3 Bears this Sunday. Starting QB Shaun Hill is not playing...and in favor of him will be 3rd stringer Drew Stanton. What do you guys think? Does Burleson wind up looking like an idiot for guaranteeing this win? Story : http://www.chicitysports.com/2010/12/01/li...ory-over-bears/

A small quote from the article now posted on the Bears site: I know they said he was working on his kickoffs but wow, 7 yds deep into the end zone with 4.2 hang time. Now that is awesome. Our kickoff coverage guys will have an easy time being number one in the league if Robbie can deliver like that on a regular basis.

From NFL.com: I would be interested in the guys I bolded (assuming some of the other top guys are franchised). Obviously can't all of them, but one or two (besides Alshon) would be awesome.

Setting the picture - I was watching the Packer/Seattle game at my friends house. When Favre made the scramble and underhanded throw right before half I turned to my friend and said "I bet Madden had to get up and clean himself off after that". Peace

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...r-has-mcl-tear/ Maybe all of you people calling him soft can apologize? Cutler can get bashed for a lot of things, but "soft" isn't one of them. Oh and the national sports media doesn't like to talk about how right after Cutler's "No comment" in regards to NFL players questioning his toughness, he turned around and started to cry.

Team MVP: Lance Briggs. Makes plays all over the field, shown leadership, helping as best he can where Urlacher is missing. Biggest Surprise: Johnny Knox. Everyone knew he could fly, but nobody expected this. Biggest Disappointment: OL. Their writeup: An offensive line that was expected to be significantly upgraded with the free-agent additions of Orlando Pace, Frank Omiyale, and Kevin Shaffer could be worse than last year's unit based on its uneven performance in the first half of the season. Pace has been a bust at left tackle, Omilaye is a pure tackle who struggled at left guard before being replaced in Week Eight by Josh Beekman, and Shaffer has been a n…

Lately I’ve been feeling stressed about our offensive line (Granted, as I work in education, I’ve had more time than usual to worry about frivolous things). One thing that made me feel better is that as per SportsMockery & Brad Biggs, Alex Bars may be the reason we have no upgraded our offensive line: https://sportsmockery.com/2020/03/belief-is-alex-bars-might-be-keeping-bears-from-signing-help-at-guard/ He’d have been drafted if he hadn’t injured his knee and the Patriots wanted to sign him to their active roster last season. Realistically, we were never going to move on from Massie or Leno. We were too happy with them after the 2018 season, we have to…

  15. Started by Alaskan Grizzly,

Was watching a replay of a recent broadcast from CSN Chicago(?) where a panel (to include Arkush) were discussing some Bears news. Mostly it was about whether the Bears would win this weekend against the Colts. Anyhow a couple comments from Arkush caught my interest. I'm not as familiar with him as some of you are and was curious about what you know of him. Anyhow the first comment he made was that no team should ever 'tank' a game just to do better in the draft. (Something I'd agree with wholeheartedly). He went on to say that "no team in the NFL would ever do that." And that doing so is a "disease". The second comment was a bit more intriguing. He said h…

  17. We are now over halfway through the first Poles season. For the most part, this is what was expected, especially after the trading deadline changes (Quinn, Smith). I know he was always going to get a free pass for the first couple of years, but how many free agent hits and draft hits does he have today? How many of those players are starters next year? If you brought in a league average free agent at a position, which Poles acquisition is starting over them? Brisker is the only one I can think of at this point. The top offensive guys (Fields, Herbert, Mooney, and Kmet) are all Pace guys. On defense, of the only sure fire keepers (Brisker, Jackson, Johnson), on…

https://twitter.com/JosinaAnderson/status/574632313893449728 I would hope that if we wanted him, we would have a leg up considering Fox (assuming he liked Fox). Oakland has the money, Indy has the best chance for winning now, and Washington is where good players go to lose.
