Giants are playing tonight, so I wanted to start this thread before the game. It will be interesting to see if they win and start the season 3-0. It's been awhile! I had to take some time off from any kind of Bearstalk. I was so frustrated with Bears management and CO. last year that I had to recharge my batteries. I missed some members, especially the old guards of BearsTalk. I hope they are still here and active in this forum. I do have some reservations on this up comming season. We all know that they need quality starting players on offense and a couple on defense. But their coaching staff is in need of repair also. Can you remember any olinemen that was drafted and has become a good consistant starter ? I can't ? How about QB's ,Wr's, and rb's ? We do have a shot at TE if they don't have him put on x…

I saw 3 different mock drafts today from 3 different places and they all have Shaq Lawson going to the Bears at #11. The 3 have nothing in common so I gotta think where there is smoke there is fire. I have been looking for stats on WR dropped passes for 2007. The only link I have is for a site called sports.iwon.com where it gives the top 20 players in each conference. On that listing (use link above to view) it only shows D Clark of CHI in the top 20 with 6 drops (bad news since he does not get as many looks as many others on the list). What would be interesting is a listing of WRs showing drops in relation to looks, or in otherwords, the percentage of drops compared to receptions/catchable passes. How would Moose & Berrian compare to others around the league? I think we would be surprised to find they are no where near the leaders in this area.

In today's Tribune, an article by Fred Mitchell (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-16-walter-payton-statue-sep16,0,3208115.story) advises that the Park District is opposed to a statue being erected outside Soldier Field. I personally find this appalling as the excuses that the Park District give is that the statue for "Sweetness" is not for a war veteran and does not take into consideration other Bear Hall of Fame members or legends. I am hoping that many Bear Fans will write to the Park District to voice displeasure with the Park District's lack of respect to the greatest running back of all time and the founding franchise of the NFL.
