Whether the defensive problems we have are coaching problems or player problems? The true answer is, we all know it's both. We could not possibly be this bad and that far removed from what we were as a defense to what we see on the field now. Only a moron (Lovie Smith) could defend the scheme we are seeing. My guess is, Babich is trying to tweak the base 4-3 but doesn't have the knowledge and my fear is, Lovie Smith does not possess it either. It's no secret that Rivera tweaked this scheme when he was here. HE learned from the best in the business, Johnson in Philly. He took what we had, the scheme and then each week, tweaked it for whoever we were playing to maximize the…

Team Needs 2012…Chicago Bears February 29th, 2012 | Author: Nathan Jahnke From the time Lovie Smith took over as the Bears’ head coach, they’ve been an average team at worst who, at times, flirts with greatness. While they need to take care of a few of their own guys first (starting with Matt Forte), they have needs elsewhere that can be filled. In the past, Chicago has shown no problem making the big moves in the offseason to improve their football team. In 2009 they traded for Jay Cutler, and in 2010 they added Julius Peppers. Both moves greatly altered how the team played on their respective sides of the ball. With the Packers being the class of the divi…

Wow, SF and Kaepernick look good. Glad to see the Cheeseheads out of it. Now Clements becomes available, if Emery deems him worthy enough. GB doomed themselves by losing to Minny in Week 17. A win and they would've had a Bye last week and a home game this week. So much for Rodgers being the savior that can win any game on his own. Nothing can help a defense that bad.

Peppers: I can't see how this team will pay him 17 million this year. On defense I only watched him and he is slower and not overpowering anyone. Either he agrees to a major pay cut or he is gone. Melton: after watching his injury in slow motion. When his foot planted with that little bit of rotation and then it buckled, it looks an awful like an ACL. Defense/Offense: after scoring early it felt like we were playing not to lose. Overall: I love being 3-0. The only ugly part is that we aren't putting our foot on anyone's throat. Too much playing to the level of the competition. It's great now, but it's not a switch that can always be turned o…

He's a career back-up who was drafted in the 2nd round in 2010. To me this just shows the direction our scheme is headed. Ducasse is 6-5, 325. That is a big man. He immediately becomes the Bears heaviest offensive lineman. And he's a guard. Our offensive line was previously designed for pass-blocking and not so much run blocking. To me this indicates a change in that. We keep showing interest in OG's and centers. Yet RT is our greatest position of need on the O-line. Is it safe to assume Kyle Long will be changing positions?

Now that the draft is over, do the Bears make any free agent moves? Any guys on other teams at QB or WR in danger of being cut because of the additions made by their teams? I was thinking maybe Josh Johnson would be the odd man out in Tampa Bay, but it may end up being Griese. The Giants, Dolphins, Jaguars, and Browns all made a couple of early picks at WR, but it's hard to imagine the Bears wanting any of the guys who would get cut (with the possible exception of Ernest Wilford in Miami). I can't help but think with so many young WRs on this roster, and such a young offense in general, you need a strong veteran presence to help move them along. The only veteran offensive…

was the performence by the Bears bad enough to make the Bears fire Lovie? Or do we need to lose more to make this happen?

Ryan Clark negotiated with the Pittsburgh Steelers this week to see if he could hammer out a longterm extension but that didn’t happen and the free agent is drawing pretty solid interest early in free agency. His agent Joel Turner declined to name the teams involved but said six clubs, including the Steelers, are involved at this point. Obviously, Arizona and Chicago would be on a very short list of teams seeking safeties with Miami and the New York Giants also in the market. Washington, where Clark used to play, could also be looking for a safety. “Everyone is gaga over Antrel Rolle,” Turner said. “Ryan is a better player. He’s got better numbers across the boa…

I dont understand why Cutler and Marshall are blowing smoke up Hesters ass. He will just be a special play guy, not even going to be on the field 33% of offensive snaps, but everybody is lauding him. I dont get it. Marshall pretty well wont be leaving the field, Bennett and Jeffery will be the primary Wrs on the field and then Hester. We will see more two TE sets . Where is all the snaps for Hester. There is a reason he hasnt stood out as a WR since he got here, and I dont see him being special now. A PACKAGE PLAYER, sure he can get some plays, but dont see him geting more than 35 catches in his new row. What say you.

  11. Just thought it'd be fun to do some mocks and post em here... Drop your mock and make some mentions.... This one I did, I'm not really sure if we could realistically trade Whitehair or Mooney, but I did. My overall premise was to move past JF1, and grab the swing at the fence of Caleb. Seems after doing that, the top WR's dried up. So, I went Edge. Nabbed our C, S, G, DT, and TE. Also got some depth at LB, HB, CB, and OT. I went Rice w the 1st WR taken because he could already have a rapport w Caleb Williams. Went Williams as a deep shot WR. Feel like WR is my weakest element. Need a FA!

Okay I've gotta share... I just read the most dumbass article I think has ever been written. In the article the suggestion was the bears trade for mo wilk. and what it recommended we offer: wait for it.... the 11th pick AND alshon Jeffrey!!! If Chicago actually did that I would start rooting for the puckers just in spite of the bears... I would seriously beg someone to hit pace in the head for being a moron... just had to share... I guess Wilkinson is now worth a 1st rd pick and a pro bowl wr....

I think lost in all this is Matt Forte. He now has a real QB. Look I like Kyle and I wish him all the best in Denver. But Cutler's ypa is almost 8 while Orton's was almost 6. I know Cutler here won't have the weapons but Orton also won't go there and have a Matt Forte. Anyways, I think this opens it up even more for Forte. He now probably won't get as many touches through the air which should give him a rest a bit but a playaction will open it up big time for Cutler, and a draw will open it up big time for Forte. I just wanted everyone's thoughts on this.

  18. The NFL announced they were turning Chicago into draft-town or something like it. Does anybody here care? I could make it a point to at least visit the festivities if I wanted but I have zero interest. I love going to training camp each year. I'll be following the draft for 3 days straight. But I have no interest in visiting. Is it just me or does anybody here care?

http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/ I was watching his highlight tape on the Bears' site (above link) and I have to admit he has one of the most impressive plays I've seen from an offensive player without the ball. On one TD play at the 37sec mark he gets three blocks, falling down on the last one but gets right up and goes after a 4th block but can't quite get there. I am guessing this is what the Bears saw from him, not so much his inline blocking but his open field blocking. Forte should love this and again, it's one more reason to put the contract difference into an incentive because it is now more likely to be earned. I like what Clutts did for us…
