The New York Giants didn't go with the familiar name for their offensive coordinator position. The team announced Tuesday that Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo is their new leader on offense. So does that weaken the Packers? Bears free agent defensive end Corey Wootton recently had arthroscopic hip surgery to correct a problem that had caused the four-year NFL veteran discomfort for the past two years, this according to a press release issued on Monday by Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, the location where Wootton underwent the procedure sometime last week. Does this make him a better player next year? The Detroit Lions hired Baltimore offensive coo…

In case anyone was curious, Titans QB Mariota was benched in favor of back-up (and former Miami starter) Ryan Tanehill yesterday. Many will say it was a lateral move and many would be right. But for me the interesting part is how similar Mariota and Trubisky are to one another. Not just by the 'eye test' but also statistically. Mariota started his career in 2015 (after being drafted in the first round that year and second overall....hmmmm). Overall his percentage completion rate (because I know we've used that as a measure in the past) is 62.2%. In 2015 he threw for 2818 yards with 19 TDs and 10 INTS. 2016 - 3426 yards with 26 TDs and 9 INTs. 2017 - 3232 yards w…

For as long as I've been a Bears fan, I've been an NFL draft fan. I've watched the whole thing, every year, since I was in elementary school. And, as a nasty side-effect, I have, unknowingly at the time, defended countless Bears drafts that did not warrant it. I have written flowery defenses of Brandin Hardin, Tron LeFavor, and Juaquin Iglesias, seen the playmaking potential in Dustin Lyman, and argued that Brock Vereen was a “steal.” This is to say, I am not, typically speaking, negative about Bears drafts. I have mentioned in several threads that I am negative about this one. Or was. I’m still deciding. Because the more I think about it, I think my problem w…

I for one am not worried about the WR core this year, BM is obviously a number 1. I think Bennett, with his connection with Cutler going back through Vandy, is a SOLID #2 who I think can really develop into a #1b and IMO thats not even up for debate. I also think if hes utilized properly, like a Brandon Stokley, Hester will be a real good #3. I think people forget that not too long ago Hester put up 700+ yards in a season and if utilized correctly I dont see why he cant have another good year this year with more weapons around them or at least put up good #3 receiver numbers(500-600yds id say). I took a look at the 2008 Denver Broncos, the year Cutler went to the pro…

When we get to day 3 of the draft one of the positions we need to fill is KR and especially PR. I'd have no problem if we took chance with Braxton Miller. He's dynamic with the ball in his hands and he can contribute on special teams early in his career while he learns how to be a WR. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000062...n-put-on-a-show Bucky Brooks » Ohio State WR/PR Braxton Miller is the most natural punt returner that I've seen in years. He catches the ball effortlessly with his hands and looks like a veteran judging the ball in the air. With Miller also displaying improved route-running skills and impressive ball skills, he could make an immediate …

NFL.com grades have been pretty damn consistent with the spot players are being drafted. It makes me feel good to think Pace is finding value. Below are the averages of all picks, and the value of the Chicago pick(s). The ones that are highlighted are the highest rated pick in the respective round. Other than the 4th round, the Bears are easily above the average. RD 1: AVG-6.27, CHI-6.5 RD 2: AVG-5.86, CHI-6.1 RD 3: AVG-5.53, CHI-6 RD 4: AVG-5.42, CHI-5.1, 5.2, 5.4 (AVG-5.23) RD 5: AVG-5.29, CHI-6.1 RD 6: AVG-5.22 (through 15 picks), CHI-5.5

  9. Eberflus has the locker room? Joquan Brisker, Bears SS (criticizing Eberflus' game plan) Demarcus Walker, Bears DE (unwilling to defend what they built this year) And can Justin play QB? Quay Walker, Packers LB (criticizing Field's ability to ever read past the first read, and the Packers basing their game plan on that!) "We know any time we can take away his first read, whether we're in man or zone, he's pretty much going to take off," Walker said. "And whenever we can keep him in the pocket and allow him just to play quarterback and not allow him to run, we've got a real, real good chance of winning the game once we can do that."…

LOUIS -- The St. Louis Rams released Richie Incognito on Tuesday, two days after coach Steve Spagnuolo benched the temperamental offensive guard for the second half of a loss at Tennessee. "As with all other personnel moves, this is what we felt was in the best interest of the team at this time," Spagnuolo said in a statement. "We appreciate Richie's efforts and we wish him the very best." Incognito Incognito A team spokesman said Spagnuolo would have more to say about the move Wednesday. The Rams have oth…

I will have the videos later, but the Bears (Edmunds) caused a fumble after a completion to Travis Etienne, but they overturned the play on the field as an incomplete pass. It was clear that Etienne caught it facing the QB, then turned to go forward when Edmunds punched the ball out. The call on the field was fumble and Bears recovery. Then in the ARZ/GB game, James Conner did the exact same thing, catch and turn, and they called it a fumble in GBs favor. No review. Crazy.

With the Bears bringing in Martz's former reciever Issac Bruce to teach the WRs the nuances of the new offense being installed, what the Hell is Darryl Drake doing? I for one have always maintained that he was not really helping these guys develop and feel he should have been dismissed along with the other offensive coaches this past offseason. I just watched a video on the 5pm news that had Martz on the practice field with Bruce standing right behind him.

I was considering the impact the ads and billboard might have on the McCaskey's potential decision to make changes to the team's management. Specifically, I wondered what else could be done to influence a change. As a born and bred Chicagoan and a fan of all of the city's teams I thought of changes our other teams have made and tried to make comparisons to the scenario facing the Bears. I think a good comparison could be made to the Blackhawks. Outside of the mild successes enjoyed during the tenures of Orval Tessier and Mike Keenan, this team has been mired in poor performances over the last twenty years. While Dollar Bill Wirtz was alive ,the team, to its own detri…
