http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...aft-safety.html As per the Trib. IMO, I see us doing something like giving up Olsen and our 3rd for another team's 2nd.

He has to "make the team." http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-1...0,6072150.story Do you still consider Nathan Vasher a starter? He really hasn't played in two years, so he needs to redefine himself, starting in the off-season. He has to earn a spot on our team. He has to show he can be a starter, somebody we can depend on. We rewarded a very good player. He earned a new contract. But since then he has had some injuries, and when he has played, his play hasn't been up to his standards, I'm sure, and certainly our standards.

5 days after I posted this in the "looking to next year" thread, this comes out. Told you so. I'm proving all of my doubters wrong (I kid, hence the green).

Time on my hands looked up the drafts of our last 2 GMs which means our current and former. Found out that JA made 83 picks of which 18 are still in the league and of those 83, 10 made the Pro Bowl. Emery has made 12 picks, 9 are still in the league and with the team with 2 having made the Pro Bowl and if we consider Brandon Marshall as an acquisition then Emery edges out JA who had Urlacher already in the fold, drafted Tillman and Briggs, but acquired no one in his first two years that made the Pro Bowl. So when some of the media started to pound Emery for his defensive selections I had to take a closer look and when its all said and done I believe Emery will have more …

The list starts with Terrence Metcalf, Lance Briggs and Bernard Berrian from 2002 to 2004. At that point not bad hitting on 2 out of 3 with 1 All Pro and a decent play making WR. After no 3rd rounder in 2005 the picks get shaky at best. From 2006 to 2009 JA has picked 7 players in the 3rd round with Earl Bennett and Marcus Harrison being the most productive out of the bunch. Thats not up to par with how he did in the beginning. So when we try to predict what he will do, I wouldn't be surprised if some way the Bears acquired an additional 3rd rounder which has been his trend recently. I'm not quite sure how the compensatory picks are given out but, Wale's impending free ag…

This one surprises me because I thought he was a lock. I guess with the Borom injury they need someone who can play OT as well, that seems to be Bill Murray.

I think this discussion on Sanborn merits a new thread as we observe him over the next few games. His stats were rather eye opening against Detroit. 12 tackles, 9 solo. 2 sacks, and we all know he had a legit INT the NFL called back. When we signed him as a UDFA I was certainly happy to have him on board. Anyone here would have been very happy to see that stat line from Roquan. We did see that against Houston and NE but there were some bad games in between. To be fair for Sanborn this is also just one game but it did get me thinking if I had missed something about him. Swift put up a video about Sanborn and showed his RAS. Nobody gets too excited …

Recently in Bears Category Hue Jackson won't interview with Bears after all January 26, 2010 6:59 AM | 1 Comment By Vaughn McClure MOBILE, Ala. -- The Bears' search for an offensive coordinator continues to be an unpredictable process. Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks coach Hue Jackson, who was believed to be headed to Chicago for an interview with the Bears today, was a last-minute scratch, according to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation. Jackson previously met with the Oakland Raiders about their offensive coordinator position. Before working to develop quarterback Joe Flacco the last two seasons, he was the offensive coordinator in Atlanta (…

Ok, so as long as I'm overblowing little things and reading too much into them, here's a good one about Desai. Jackson compared his style more to "Vic" Fangio than "Chuck" Pagano - seems to indicate that his responsibilities would be more similar to Fangio's defense than last year's. GOOD. If we field and explosive offense, then a gambling defense is a good pairing with that. No need to play it so safe. Maybe that's why the pass rush was kind of sleepy too. And he also said that Desai was being tough with the players. Also great to see. I like to hear this, getting Jackson back to prime form would be huge for this defense.

I've watched this play a few times and the more I see it the more I think it's a brilliant play design. That's not my main point of this post. I think this play shows how well the defense is coming together. With Mack on board now for a few months there's a consistency to our pass rush and teams are reacting to that, and him. He's seeing the usual double and sometimes triple teams but teams are also working the quicker passing routes. That was the Lions scheme in our second matchup to negate our pass rush. Now these players and coaches have been together with Mack and are all coming to understand each other. This includes an improving Roquan Smith in the mi…

Per rotoworld.com Jacob Bell has signed with St. Louis. I really am starting to doubt Angelo's strategy this off-season. We can't fill every need in this years draft he is going to have to sign someone, isn't he?

How far would you be willing to trade up for the right talent? Suppose the top of the draft goes QB crazy. Four of the top five teams need a QB. The Rams like their QB, their coach has a relationship with a stud player’s Dad (Bruce/Jake Matthews), and they need playmakers. Atlanta sits at pick 6, and one of their team needs is DL. 1. HOU – Bridgewater 2. STL – Matthews 3. JAX – Manziel 4. CLE – Bortles 5. OAK On the Value Chart, the #5 pick is 1,700 points and the #14 is 1,100 points. The Bears’ second rounder is worth 390. Given that Oakland has notoriously bad front office decisions, let’s say they’re willing to trade their first ro…

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7859190...-Bill-for-picks The Jags got what seems to be the going rate in a 3rd and 5th rounder. Good deal for the Bills, decent for the Jags. The Jags have depth at DT so the loss won't be that big, but Stroud was a real good player for them... but will he ever be the same after his injury?
