Bearstalk

Are you a diehard Chicago Bears fan? If so, you've found the spot to discuss all things Chicago Bears. Discuss the Monster of the Midway right here as the Bears look to get back on track in 2024 and take the North and never give it back! Flaming is not allowed and all such posts will be deleted. Try to keep it clean and most importantly BEAR DOWN! #BEARS #CHICAGOBEARS #BEARDOWN

  1. I IMHO think that they will be better than they were last year due to Martz leaving and players back from injury. They were doing well at the mid point of the season having a few games I think without giving up a sack. If the Bears use the shotgun more and the short three step drops then the Oline will not have try to hold their blocks long. http://www.prosportsdaily.com/nfl/bears/

So this is what we will be getting this year with Marshall? Take notice of the QB throwing him the ball(Orton) and the DB guarding him(Jennings). Take special notice of all the yards after the catch moves, jukes, stiff arms, broken tackles....wow. Not to mention that he had 21 catches in one game!(NFL record) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5q6HoHYDKQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9q52pUl8vZM...;feature=g-vrec

  3. There is an article in the www.bleacherreport.com about Jay being the most underrated player in NFL, its a good one. Read it. That is the website, not sure if its linked right. May be one of the computer brains can help me.

  5. Hey it is still a slow period. Who would you take, I say the best 3 options are AP. Jarret Allen, Kahil. Make a choice. As for me I think Kahil would be a bookend OT for 8 to 10 years with Carimi. Even though he hasnt played a down in the NFL yet, is upside is great.

This has to be a clear cut sign that Williams is playing at LT, right? I mean, there's no way he could be worse than Webb; so if there is competition, true competition, Williams has it. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,3935877.story Williams - Spencer - Garza - Louis - Carimi That is better than last season, but it sure as heck would have been nice to have more done.

Some die-hard fans are unwilling to accept the fact that the Bears are no longer "cheap" and are willing to pay up to give us a good team. Those who acknowledge that we are not the Bear penny pinchers of the past always come back with a "but we spend the money unwisely", an argument that has some foundation, IMO. Emery is making moves to make sure we do indeed spend our money wisely, increase our quality of drafts and FA acquisitions, by overhauling the Scouting System we have had in place, and I am sure the additional staff and internal promotions cost the owners a good chunk of change. However, if successful, could indeed save them from wasting money in the futur…

As evidenced by our recent draft we are no longer looking for players with the highest floor. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=8845 “I want the players with the high ceilings, with the largest capacity for growth,” Emery said in King's Monday Morning Quarterback column. “And I believe every aspect of that player is on tape. You can see him, you can read him.” I think this showed in our draft: Trading up for Alshon Jeffrey, taking Brandon Hardin in Rd 3. I can't see JA ever making the trade to grab Jeffrey especially if he had already made a deal to acquire Brandon Marshall. JA would have sat and waited to see who fell to him. …

Yahoo Sports posted their first player rankings for 2012, and the Bears are looking pretty good: http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/nfl/news;_...rtpoll-pre12-qb Using their Composite Ranking, the Bears ranked as follows for their positions: Cutler - 11th Forte - 9th Bush - 36th Marshall - 5th Jeffery - 50th Bennett - 68th Hester - 75th Gould - 9th Defense - 3rd Those actually seem like some realistic rankings. Marshall may be a little high, but it is nice to see him projected there. I know it is not much, but it is nice to see Bears positional players in and around the top 10 (other than Forte).

We have added to some areas where our team will be improved. WRs,RBs, special teams, and backups. What of our weaknesses are most important to be a lot better to show great improvement with our record. DBs, DL, and OL. I think for us to be a solid team we need the OL to take a giant step forward. Without the OL we wont be able to take advantage of the weapons we added.

  14. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...-terrell-owens/ IFL team dumps Terrell Owens Posted by Mike Florio on May 29, 2012, 6:50 PM EDT Getty Images Receiver Terrell Owens can’t get back in to the NFL. And now he’s out of the IFL. The Allen Wranglers have announced that Owens has been released. It’s hardly an amicable split. The statement takes multiple shots at Owens for not having the right level of commitment. “Our fans are amongst the best in the league and it is impossible to maintain a player when even our fans notice and comment on a player’s lack of effort both on and off the field,” owner Jon Frankel said. “We need to do wh…

Pro Football Weekly was rating the best divisions and the North had a slight edge over the NFC East. Hey its a slow topic time of the year. I agree with them, I think the Packers are the best team in football and Detroit and The Bears will have above 9 win seasons, so that should put them over the hump.

  16. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...ng-me-positive/ Johnny Knox praises Hester for “keeping me positive” Posted by Mike Florio on May 31, 2012, 5:53 PM EDT AP As MDS has pointed out, Bears receiver Devin Hester is paying close attention to Brandon Marshall. But Hester has paid a different kind of attention to teammate Johnny Knox, and Knox is forever grateful for it. Knox praised Hester on Wednesday for showing true concern for Knox in the difficult months since Knox suffered a severe spinal injury during a December 2011 game. “Devin has done a great job of keeping me positive,” Knox said, via Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune. “H…

Here in an interesting article from NFP. The Philadelphia Eagles understand this process. With LeSean McCoy set to enter the final season of his four-year rookie contract, the Philadelphia front office cleared the necessary cap space and rewarded one of the league’s best running backs with a five-year contract extension worth $45 million with $20.765 million guaranteed on Thursday. McCoy is happy. The team is happy. 2012 could be a big year for the Birds. LeSean McCoy landed a lucrative new contract extension after a record-setting 2011 season. The McCoy deal serves as the most recent example of how the Eagles have done an excellent job of identifying, evalu…
