He ran a 4.52 forty at the combine and it shows on the field where he is quick to get open and can threaten defenses deep down field. He is an aggressive inline blocker, not the strongest and often gets himself overextended. That's correctable and at least his heart is in it. Today was a great day for Phil Emery. He brought in one of the top TE's and a LT that has been to 2 probowls. Two positions that had cost the Bears many chances to win last season. It seems like we get a Christmas every offseason, which hopefully with some good drafts will not be needed in the future. I was thinking about this. Can you imagine Bill Belichick having a dance party in the locker room after regular season wins? How do you expect he would deal with players underperforming? Can you even imagine him calling only 7 run plays in a game? I was wondering about Nagy giving his playcalling duties over to the actual OC, and then he could focus on... what exactly... Ok, so I was thinking about our Left Tackle situation and thought I would take a look at the last five years of teams that made the Conference Championship games (20 teams) and see how many had a Pro Bowl Tackle. Out of the 20 teams, only 9 had a Pro Bowl Tackle, and one of those was an Alternate. So more than half of the teams did not have an Offensive Tackle (Left or Right) on their team that year. Going further, only 3 of 10 teams that played in the Super Bowl over the past 5 years had a Pro Bowl Tackle. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this board and with the season kicking off the board is back with interesting chatter. I think this board has some of the greatest Bear talk minds and it is always a pleasure to visit. I will have to miss the Bears vs Patriot game since I will be traveling back from Sioux Falls SD that evening.
