Several times during the Lovie years, we saw pointless wins that allowed the team to misleading hope, while simultaneously submarining any chance of stockpiling draft capital that helps build franchises. The team has hovered around .500 year after year since 2000. Since 2000, believe it or not, the team has an average of 7.9 wins per season. Of the 22 seasons, 12 have been +/- 2 wins of .500. That's treading water; it's not building a franchise. For 30+ years I have heard about how the meaningless wins help in some way, whether it be cohesion, camaraderie, or confidence. But for the Bears, that doesn't appear to hold true. That's why I think this year is so perfect. …

The Bears really got the shaft in terms of SoS this year. The NFC North in general got both East divisions which don't have a team with a losing record. So that is 8 games against winning teams, then the Bears have 2x MIN and played SF. So 11 games against winning teams, and 4 of the non-winning games are against GB and DET. That leaves ATL and HOU as the last two games. I still can't believe the Bears lost to ATL. After the next two weeks, the Bears will have played the top 4 teams in terms of DVOA, PHI, BUF, SF, and DAL. Talk about bad luck. At least the Bears get the NFC South next year. That is the only division without a team with a winning record. They al…

Both QBs were drafted in 2020. Last year the Jaguars had the second most money in FAgency to spend. They had picks, 1--20--65--70 took edge Travon Walker, LB Devin Lloyd, OC Luke Fortner, LB Chad Muma. In Free Agency : Brandon Scheff (all pro OG), Oluokun ( ( leading tackler in 2021 NFL), Fatukasi/ DT (above average), Kirk/ WR ( high #2 ), Zay Jones/ WR, Evan Engram/ TE. They needed to rebuild their OL and WR, add playmaker. Sound familiar? They added 2 starters on their OL and Kirk, Jones and Engram. We have more work on defense but offensively we have already started with bringing in Claypool in the mix. The key will be what Poles doe…

I am not too worried as long as he puts up, but I bet this quote is planted in Claypool and Mooneys head. Any thoughts? Moore telling Adam Schefter about phone call with Justin. "It shocked him when I got traded," Moore said of Fields. "It was like 'Uh oh.' Let's go be QB1, receiver 1, and then we got [Darnell] Mooney and Chase [Claypool]. It's gonna be a good offense." it is nice seeing them all together building chemistry. Add Kmet and Tonyan to this group and this might be Chicago Bears best.

Similar to previous years, a team could draft pretty much all Alabama players and it would be good draft. Trade Back 1.XX - Brian Branch, S 2.22 - Jaymyr Gibbs, RB 2.XX - Tyler Steen, OT 2.30 - Eli Ricks, CB 3.1 - Henry To'oTo'o, LB 4.1 - Byron Young, DL 5.1 - Emil Ekiyor Jr., G 5.XX - Cameron Latu, TE I can't say I'd be entirely upset by that. Normally, the position sequence isn't my favorite, but grabbing all Bama players would be awesome.

Here are the Bears single season records on offense. Passing 370 Completions - Cutler 2014 561 Attempts - Cutler 2014 3838 Yards - Kramer 1995 29 TD - Kramer 1995 Rushing 381 Attempts - Payton 1984 1852 Yards - Payton 1977 14 TD - Sayers 1965, Payton 1977, Payton 1979 Receiving 118 Receptions - Marshall 2012 1508 Yards - Marshall 2012 13 TD - Kavanaugh 1947, Gordon 1970 It feels like with the RBBC, the rushing records won't be touched for quite some time. All the passing ones seem to be in play every year and for receiving, Moore has a shot at 118 receptions, but it would be a long shot. Thoughts?

How confident are you in the Bears roster going into the season, today? Knowing that Poles has overhauled almost the entire roster in 2 years has me feeling pretty good. I think he needs one more offseason to hit the sweet spot, but we are going to be a pesky team this year. Knowing how last season turned out, how many close games the Bears lost, the fact that 30% of the players on the 53-man from last year can't make an NFL roster this year, and that Poles has also upgraded half of the key contributors has me drinking a little of the Koolaid. On offense, compared to opening day 2022, the Bears have an upgrade at WR1, WR2, TE2, C, and RT. On defense, you ca…

So after limited targets, they finally got Moore going. He now has 301 receiving yards (14th) and is on pace for 81 receptions, 1,279 yards and 9 TDs. This includes a game where Fields only passed for 99 yards. 15 of his 19 receptions have gone for 1st downs. He is trending in the right direction, which is nice to see considering the season.

Looking around the league, there are some bad teams out there, and the Bears are not the only ones underachieving. Did anyone see the Giants last night? The Bears are 0-4, should be at least 1-3, but probably projected to be 2-2 at this point. Obviously we have watched this team lose in every conceivable way. Bengals are 1-3 and just lost to the Titans 24-3. Burrow looks like a shell of his former self. Chase has 0 TDs. Just very odd considering they still have Chase, Higgins, Boyd, and Mixon as their top skill players. Patriots are 1-3 and their only win was a 15-10 barn burner against a Wilson-led Jets team. Mac Jones had looked like crap, their leading…

We were talking about Jared Goff, which led me to Cooper Kupp. I don't think people talk enough about his 2021 season (or the fact that he has lived off of it ever since). He had 145 receptions, 1947 yards, and 16 TDs that year. That was basically 1000 yards more than his previous season where he had 974 yards. That one season is such an outlier, it is crazy. He has only had one other season over 1000 yards. He is also already 30 yrs old. So in 7 years, he has made one All-Pro Team and Pro Bowl, in 2021, that's it. 2021 is also the year the Rams won the SB. They basically rode him all the way there. Then in the postseason he scored 7 TDs in 4 games …

Just curious what the locals think about the stadium relocating. I read they are looking at the south lot as a possibility, just curious where people would park then, looking at the current satellite images of the area. Also what are your thoughts of it moving to Arlington?

    1. Montez Sweat has 12.5 sacks with 3 games remaining. The Bears single season franchise leader is Quinn at 18. Sweat can pass him with 2 sacks per game for the final 3. That would give him 18.5, even though not all of them were on the Bears, it is still a single season accomplishment. 2a. Fields needs 77 passing yards to pass Rex Grossman for 14th on the franchise Passing Yards leaderboard, 85 more to pass Vince Evans, and 160 to pass Mike Tomczak (12th), 167 to pass Rudy Bukich, and 208 yards to pass Johnny Lujack for 10th. All those seem achievable this weekend. 2b. Justin Fields has tied Bob Avellini for the 5th most losses in franchise history, with one mor…

I was upset when I first learned of Cliff Stein leaving the Bears. I was even more alarmed that it was rumored that Warren was the one who showed him the door. I just read an interesting article describing in detail the rise and fall of Cliff Stein and now fully understand why he was dismissed. The article describes Stein's change in approach to contract negotiations that had become an issue with players and their agents. It also mentioned that he felt Phillips and Stein mishandled negotiations with Arlington Heights which has led to a stalemate in Warren's plans for a stadium there. Finally, it states Warren is concerned that there are "leaks" in the front office o…

Jackson posted several cryptic messages on social media, but all allude to him being gone from Chicago. So there is the first domino and Whitehair is probably next. Those moves will open up a ton of cap space and now we can project the need for a new FS in free agency or in the draft. Eddie started out hot, got paid and hurt. Unfortunately, he was a different player after the injury. He shied away from contact too much, and at times just seemed like the 11th guy on the field running around away from the play.

To start things off, great game last night! You can tell what a well built team looks like. Watching the game from our perspective, tells me that we are not ready yet. When it comes to conference championships and Superbowls, the defenses are amped up. The DB's become assassins and the pass rush is relentless. Our team needs became more clarifyed to me. And I didn't like it. Defensively, we need two more guys that can rush the passer as starters and one to be situational. We currently have one. After that, I'm good with the linebackers and secondary, as safeties are easy to find. On to the offense, OMG we need help. We have DJ Moore as our only stud. As we'…
