I have always said a team should have an identity. Teams usually win with a dominant side of the ball. Rarely does a team win a championship without either. That being said, the brass wants our identity to be a dominant defensive team with a ball control offense winning the time of possession battle. What is the best path to establishing the goal, now that we've filled holes in FA? Let's pose a draft strictly on that...

He ran a 4.52 forty at the combine and it shows on the field where he is quick to get open and can threaten defenses deep down field. He is an aggressive inline blocker, not the strongest and often gets himself overextended. That's correctable and at least his heart is in it. No one knows how the Bears view the top players, there are so many so called draft experts that it can be confusing to actually figure out the actual value. He's still rumored to be available and after the Tim Jernigan trade there is speculation that he would cost a mid-round pick. He's had issues in the past and is in the last year of his deal, but the Bears have plenty of cap room to absorb his deal and even extend him. He would make the line potentially scary. What about #3 to the Jets for #6 and Richardson? The Bears wouldn't need Allen/Thomas anyway and at #6 could still go QB/Adams/Hooker.

I keep seeing mocks and discussion that list OJ Howard as a possible pick. I just can't see it. In fact, it borderline pisses me off. As far as I'm aware, #3 would be the highest drafted TE ever. On top of that, many are saying this is the deepest TE class ever. A top-5 pick on OJ Howard makes so little sense it's baffling. So please, anyone, convince me why it's remotely a smart idea.

It seems rumors are now building that we're likely taking a DB at #3. That's an exceedingly easy rumor to throw out there given the talented options in Adams, Hooker, and Lattimore match very well with the Bears needs. Many draftniks in the media have had us taking Lattimore for the last couple weeks.
