After some of the initial signings came in, it was clear that the Bears had a hard stance on overpaying and were not going to budge on value, regardless of the player or need. I assumed we would pay whatever it took to bring in some of the top FA's, but after each signing, it was clear what that the Bears were not going to give out long term deals that would hurt the club in the long-term. We are currently in full rebuild mode. Any free agent now is just a gap filler as we replenish through the draft, but we have to understand we are still 2-3 years away from competing realistically. I think we will always be competitive, but I am not expecting much more than a 5-win seas…

per the Chicago Sun Times 1/15/08: http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2008/01/be...on_with_le.html Bears fill LB position with Lee Lovie Smith will not be conducting job interviews as the Senior Bowl next week. Not for a linebackers coach, anyway. The team moved quickly to fill the vacancy created last week by the resignation of Hardy Nickerson, promoting defensive assistant Lloyd Lee into the position. Lee worked with the nickel backs last season and served as an assistant linebackers coach under Bob Babich in 2006. He was a quality control assistant for the two seasons prior to that. The Senior Bowl is a gathering spot for most coaches in…

Below I've posted the blog from profootballtalk.com that says Dante Stallworth is getting no interest. That's awesome. It means that either: a) FA WR's like Berrian won't command HUGE $$$'s, and If Berrian walks, it's one more guy the Bears could get to replace him. NO MARKET FOR STALLWORTH A league source tells us that there's little or no interest on the open market for receiver Donte' Stallworth, whose tenure with the Patriots is ending after only one season. A year ago, Stallworth was believed to be one of the hottest free-agent receivers on the market. After languishing on the shelf while the big money flowed, Stallworth signed a long-term …

The ESPN jock ask's Angelo about the ongoing dispute with Brian Urlacher "Is Brian Urlacher holding a gun to your head?" Angelo's response is, "if he is, it's filled with water." Sounds like Urlacher will just have to make do with what he's got!!

Wow. Let's start at the top with Trubisky. He had time to throw and took full advantage of it dropping passes into the right location play after play. Numbers aside, he's still got room to grow but the most important aspect for me was seeing him confident in the pocket with his reads. Regardless of pass rush or not he looked like he knew where he should go with the ball on each play. With that confidence he finally showed he can "throw guys open" like on that beautiful tear-drop pass to Robinson in the endzone. Oline: They did a great job in pass protection today. Run blocking wasn't so good but it was good enough to keep the threat of runs realistic. …

I think our top priority this off season is to identify and add a couple of leader types on the defense. As much as I think letting Urlacher go was needed , we did miss his leadership. Him being here probably wouldnt have made much difference in our final record, but he would have put the young players in a better place to succeed. Briggs,IMO, isnt a team leader, he is a good player with a big mouth. When he came back from injury, he was out of shape and team leaders dont do that. Tillman and Peppers, lead by example, not inspiration to the people that needed guidance. Peanut was hurt almost all year, and Peppers has lost a step. He had many games he just didnt show up. …

No one knows how the Bears view the top players, there are so many so called draft experts that it can be confusing to actually figure out the actual value. If we go by Paces own words , we have to assume he goes with BPA. top ten big board: 1- Myles Garrett-no brainier here 2-Soloman Thomas- has been moving up and would be our Justin Smith if we could get him 3-Johnathan Allen- He was considered the consensus #2 going into the Combine but even with the concern over future arthritic shoulders, he will not slip much 4-Jamal Adams- a future all pro 5-Marshon Lattimore- the highest rated CB in the draft 6-Malik Hooker- He would be tow…

Bears | Tillman's status for Week 1 uncertain Comment (0) Thu, 10 Sep 2009 07:18:55 -0700 Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports it is not known if Chicago Bears CB Charles Tillman (back) will be allowed to play in the team's Week 1 game. When we hired Pagano the rumors were that he would be more aggressive calling defensive plays than Fangio was. At first Pagano insinuated he'd be the one learning the Fangio terminology and by default it sounded as if he wasn't going to change things much. In the OTAs we've already heard Nagy talking about the different coverages they are seeing and players have talked about differences they have to learn, albeit generically so nobody gives away any secrets for week 1. In this video of Trevathan mic'd up around the 1:10 mark you will see Trevathan, Floyd, and Skrine rushing off the left edge at the same time and keeps RRH and Hicks on the other side. I don't recall…

Bringing in a consultant to give Teddy advice isn't what I expected to hear. Accorsi might be a solid advisor but the same team of morons who picked Emery and Trestman are still the final deciders on this set of hires. THAT DOESN'T INSPIRE MUCH CONFIDENCE. I'd say this was all complete bullshit but I still love this team and hope for the best. But I'm not a fan of Phillips and think he needed to fall on his sword in some fashion. If he's honestly still involved in the football decisions of this team, we'll be having this same discussion again in a few years. God save us....

Let's face it, nobody here predicted this draft would unfold the way it did. You guys know me, I'm a glass half full koolaid drinker. But... Most of this draft clearly fits into the following categories: 1 Reach 2 Risky 3 Tweener. Now as a fan I have to give Emery a chance to prove himself and so I will. We all hope for the best. But frankly, Emery's history with KC doesn't fill me with confidence and this draft looks flawed. I guess getting Marshall makes me feel a little more comfortable with Emery but given that even that was tainted by the charges and this player's mental health condition, the jury is out.

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...-bsep19.article As for the TD escalator, I can think of at least 3 dropped TD passes (Hester against Philly, Booker against Minny, and Clark against NO). Further Clark fumbled on the 1 yd line against Minny and it was recovered in the endzone by Davis. Peace

You wouldn't think the Bears were a first place team, but that is what the standings say. Sitting on top with GB and Minn. Gives the team a reason to cobtinue to show up.

Bears placed RB Garrett Wolfe on injured reserve with a torn hamstring, ending his season. They signed LB Gilbert Gardner. Gardner joins old Purdue pal Kyle Orton in Chicago. He knows the Tampa 2, having played in Detroit and Indianapolis previously,

Alright I have seen several places that indicate that the feat of Jay cutler having 3 straight games of 100 QB rating or better is a 1st for a Bears QB in 39 years. However in ever place that I have checked no where does it indicate who did it. I know in 1970 was the merger. Am I assuming right that he just became the 1st Bears QB to do it period since the AFL-NFL merger??? Also who was the last QB to have done this in 4 straight games. Any stats would be greatly appreciated.
