Changing the vibe around here, since there is nothing to talk about post-draft, I'd like to discuss what appears to be bad form by our new LB, Jon Bostic. I've heard guys from the NFL to DII officiating say they are trying to take the helmet/head out of hitting, and Bostic needs to make an adjustment. What's more, I watched his and there are several more high hits with bad form. He dips his head to hit, rarely sees his target, and doesn't wrap up. Unless he changes his technique, you can guarantee this guy is going to get penalties for the Bears.

word is he will be released before the draft? I always loved miami players... Any thoughts

From PFT, Johnson also was on WSCR in Chicago, during which he said he'd make quarterbacks Rex Grossman or Kyle Orton into superstars. Johnson also said, "I've worked myself to a point to where I make the quarterback look good regardless of what he does or where he puts the ball." Not really that much to read into this as he has supposedly be pulling the same thing all over the place, trying to tie himself w/ any team that will listen. While I do not think this is actually a possibility, what do you all think about the idea. Frankly, it is similar to when there was talk of TO being moved. Listening to Hub on the score today he talked about a couple of changes to watch for. We all know JA wants to bring in Marinelli as he mentioned it during the press conference. Marinelli didn't do so well in DET, but I can't say that says alot about his coaching abilty as much as the organizations ability to commit to his philosophy. Marinelli was our first choice when we brought in Lovie to run the D, but Tampa refused. His coaching style is about having discipline and working hard and those are two things I think killed our D this year. Considering that Slasson hasn't played center much in his career he did a nice job on short notice with one bad snap and one bad exchange. Charles Leno Jr wasn't a train wreck at left tackle and Omameh wasn't awful either. Kyle Long and Ducasse seem to be settling in on the right side. Going forward I hope our 3rd round draft pick is ready to start his career since Montgomery has a broken bone in his leg( tibia?) which is an extended period injury and may signal the start of the Grasu era, if not Slausson seemed okay and I like the thought of a center with size in the middle. Looks like the Bears will come in at 6.5 underdogs to the 1-5 Ravens. The LBs and Gordon are going to have to spy Jackson and stop Henry. This will be a tough one, but Baltimore's defense has been bad and that won't change much out of their bye. If the refs call this game fair (unlikely), I could see the Bears winning this in a close game. However, the refs have shown they don't call games fairly, so I am thinking this will be close loss, both teams in the mid-20s.

I thought we could use a thread to discuss the current games, if anyone is watching. The Indy game was crazy, Luck got some luck when Brown fumbled in the Red Zone and the ball bounced off a players helmet right to Luck who dove into the endzone. Glad to see Philly lose, but their offensive performance against the Saints really showed how bad our defense was. Brees throws 2 INTs and wins. McCoy longest run was 11 yards. GO SF!!!!

RG-Best in the NFL? RT-Above average? Move him back in the middle and find the starting OT in the draft.

Can someone who was there enlighten me on what was going on during the National Anthem? Instead of it being hyped up, I thought it was pretty disrespectful for people to cheer during the National Anthem. Either sing along or STFU. Maybe someone can change my perspective on this based upon what was actually going on at Soldier Field.

why the hell Orton was in the game with 3 minutes to go? To me, that is down right criminal. Rex should have been at QB to hand the ball off 3 times in a row to Peterson. There is no excuse - period. Peace

We have players hitting players in training camp and I couldn't be happier. We'll have to see the results but after a decade or so of watching lousy tackling and less than physical play in the first few games of the regular season because Lovie and Trestman didn't like hitting in camp this is very welcome news. We have already had one fight and they weren't even in pads. So while I'm not promoting fights I am promoting the fact that you need to work hard to beat the guy on the other side of the line and that means taking it right up to the limit. Unfortunately, we can shelve that pipe-dream; Mike Martz just went to the Niners. Why is it that the Bears can never get an offensive coordinator who is capable of turning the offense into a weapon feared throughout the league? Oh, wait, we had that guy, and he just got done engineering a great game to win the BCS Championship last night. (Hate how un-Bearlike it may have been, and how it put the defense in bad shape at times, he made our offense a threat that it hasn't been since, and hadn't been for some time before.) Look forward to seeing Turner next year.

Houston, Mundy, and Senn? 1 starter and massive needs at Safety, CB, and DL. I know it is only Day 1 but we didnt get Ward or Mitchell, and will probably lose Melton, Tillman, and McCown. At this point we are taking another step back on defense if we dont add an impact FA. That scares me.
