Profootballfocus just did a study tabulating how many "catchable" passes were dropped by each receiver and TE last season: they watched each pass themselves and classified a pass as "catchable" if the receiver could get his hands on it and you would "reasonably expect it to be caught" - so passes deflected, slips, and passes thrown where the receiver could only get a fingertip on the ball wouldn't count. It's a narrow category, but it gives you an idea, for each guy, of how many passes he dropped that he absolutely should have caught. It looks like they only discuss the best and worst guys in the league, so the Bears' wide receivers are all missing in action in the …

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...tagged-players/ Report: Few deals expected for franchise-tagged players Posted by Darin Gantt on July 13, 2012, 10:20 AM EDT Getty Images With the clock ticking on the 14 franchise-tagged players who haven’t signed long-term deals, the prognosis is mixed on whether more than a few will get a contract or play out their one-year tenders. Jason LaCanfora of CBSSports.com said “perhaps only three or four deals will actually get struck,” before Monday’s deadline, based on conversations with league sources. He counts Drew Brees among the likely to get done, based largely on the fact it’s inconceivable to ot…

HOME Minnesota (11-4) Philadelphia (11-4) Green Bay (10-5) New England (10-5) NY Jets (8-7) Seattle (5-10) Washington (4-11) Detroit (2-13) AWAY Minnesota (11-4) Green Bay (10-5) Dallas (10-5) NY Giants (8-7) Miami (7-8) Carolina (7-8) Buffalo (5-10) Detroit (2-13) These games are assuming the NFL uses the same pattern they have used thru 2009. With the draft and most UDFA's signed, using our pre-draft depth chart, I tried to figure out who makes the cut at 53. The biggest battles are at LB and CB, and who plays what on the DLINE. Nevertheless, it should be interesting. For simplicity sake, I plugged some guys in for only one position even though they can play multiple. Looking at this you can see why we did not draft a LB. Also, it looks like the low end of the roster turnover would be 33% and can get as high as 45% depending on which 53-man roster guys stick (I see about 6 at risk) and 18 new slots already filled. What do you think, look about right? OFFENSE (24): QB (2): Jay Cutler* / Jimmy C…

Here is my projection based on initial cuts down towards 53: QB (3) 6 Cutler, Jay 8 Clausen, Jimmy 12 Fales, David RB (4) 22 Forte, Matt 36 Langford, Jeremy 35 Rodgers, Jacquizz 25 Carey, Ka'Deem WR (6) 17 Jeffery, Alshon 19 Royal, Eddie 11 Bellamy, Joshua 10 Wilson, Marquess 80 Mariani, Marc KR/PR 81 Meredith, Cameron TE (3) 83 Bennett, Martellus 84 Lee, Khari 86 Miller, Zach OL (9) 64 Montgomery, Will C 75 Long, Kyle G 68 Slauson, Matt G 74 Bushrod, Jermon T 72 Leno, Charles T 73 Tayo Fabuluje T 67 Mills, Jordan T 55 Grasu, Hroniss C 62 Ducasse, Vladimir G …

Here is an article that projects what the stats are going to be for the year https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2018/5/18/17368652/chicago-bears-mitchell-trubisky-leonard-floyd-allen-robinson-espn-fantasy-breakdown-nfl-2018 I think Cohen, Shaheen, and Miller's stats are on the low side. I think Tribusky's TD total is higher than projected.

On the website FootballsFuture.com there is an interesting article/post from a guy who likes to make this prediction every year entitled Projecting the 2008 Compensatory Picks. He is saying he projects the Bears will get 3 7th round picks. Interesting information on how the picks are awarded. 3 7th rounders would be nice. Every year there are players every team are rushing to sign because they feel they could be worth a tryout but were not drafted. This would give the Bears a chance on taking a flyer on 3 of those players without having to compete for them after the draft is over. Never know what you may find.

Right now I am thinking it will look something like this: QB - Fields, Siemian (upgrade from last year) RB - Montgomery, Herbert, Ebner, Blasingame, Evans (upgrade from last year) WR - Mooney, Pringle, Jones, Sharpe, St. Brown, Newsome/Pettis/Webster/Coulter, (Harry - IR) (downgrade from last year) TE - Kmet, Griffin, O'Shaughnessy (push) OL - Reiff, Whitehair, Patrick, Schofield, Jenkins, Borom, Jones, Mustipher, Carter/Eiselen/Coleman (upgrade from last year) So the only position group to get worse is the WRs. Now if Pringle and Jones look solid, that may change very quickly. Without ARob there is a drop off at the top, but I think the floor for the WR…

So after the 2nd preseason game, it looks like the 53-man roster is going to come down to 5-6 battles at the bottom of the roster depending on how the team views certain positions and ST value. This is my thought so far on the locks: Offense QB (2) - Williams, Bagent RB (4) - Swift, Herbert, Johnson, Homer WR (5) - Moore, Allen, Odunze, Scott, Jones Jr. TE (3) - Kmet, Everett, Lewis OL (9) - Jones, Jenkins, Wright, Bates, Shelton, Davis, Pryor, Amegadjie, Carter Defense DL (7) - Sweat, Billings, Dexter, Walker, Pickens, Booker, Hardy LB (4) - Edmunds, Edwards, Sanborn, Sewell CB (6) - Johnson, Gordon, Stevenson, Smith, Blackwell, Stroman …

Here is my take and lots of questionable directions a few teams can go. If the top 3 WRs are gone what do the Bears do 1. Caleb Williams QB Chicago 2. Drake Maye QB Washington 3. Jayden Daniel's QB. New England - or trade with Denver for huge draft haul 4. Marvin Harrison Jr WR Arizona 5. ? Brock Bowers TE LA Charger - fans want Bowers, they should draft LT Alt. Seeing Nabers/Odunze WR too but have Allen, Williams, and Q Johnson. 6. ? Malik Nabers WR NY Giants - their QBs got killed, OT would be smart. QB? 7. Joe Alt OT Tennessee 8. Dallas Turner DE Atl- they have QB and WRs 9. Rome Odunze WR Chicago - trade down if WRs a…

Offense: Plays from scrimmage - 71 (3rd) Yards - 402 (5th) Yards/Play - 5.7 (6th) 1st/G - 25 (2nd) 3rd Down Made - 11 (1st) 3rd Down % - 65% (1st) 4th Down Made - 2 (1st) TOP - 31:52 (10th) Rush Att - 33 (5th) Rushing Yards - 189 (1st) YPC - 5.7 (1st) Defense: Yards - 322 (6th) So by the numbers, it really wasn't a bad game. The goal line turnover on downs was the turning point for me. The Packers just had a 10 minute drive for a TD, and then we drive down 78 yards in 3 minutes looking to tie the game and we don't score. We were so good on the ground that it is hard to believe we would pass 3 consecutive times from the 2. For next…

Found this at the end of an article on Rideau and thought I'd post it to give some props to Kreutz. Aside from his play this is why he's one of the team leaders: Center Olin Kreutz, a six-time Pro Bowler, remained on the field after practice to work one-on-one with guard Johan Asiata, an undrafted rookie free agent from UNLV. I've never heard of Asiata and yet here's our Pro Bowl center out there after practice helping him out.

I ripped on him hard last week. I have to give him credit - he had a great game against the Puckers. However, I still say he needs to go at the end of the season. Peace

He could have pulled a Rachel and bailed on the team but he took his demotion like a man. Today he stepped into a position he had never played and held his own. Then after the game he said he was going to work hard to get his old job back. I will be rooting for him. Peace
