http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/...sod-time-season I'm not sure how many times we have gotten new sod, but as long as the Chicago Park District owns Soldier Field and allows other non-sporting events to take place there, it's useless as tits on a fish. The field has been in shit condition since they took the astroturf away. Ridliculous amount of money paid for sod. Paying for the synthetic would pay for it self after 2 go arounds with replacing the sod.

To get myself to chill with all this 12-4 talk, I took a look at the Bears performance on defense. We're on a pace to give up 408 points. We gave up 277 last year. In fact, only 8 teams last year gave up that many points and guess what... Not one of them was a playoff team. You can sugarcoat this any way you like but if this trend continues, the Bears aren't going anywhere this year. I don't care how good Cutler and Forte turn out to be. The D needs to improve and they can start by getting a little pressure on the opposing QB.

Offense Cutler - he will be back, has really performed well with a sub par Oline and injuries to every weapon WR, TE, RB, added him to list due to some guys probably still wanting him gone Forte - This will probably be the most debated player - should they resign him or let him go??? Langford and Carey have looked good Alshon - franchise or sign long term - thoughts on long term contract? Bennett - trade, cut, give him more money??? Bushrod - I bet he gets cut Montgomery - bring him back or let the rookie start? Long - move back to G or leave at Tackle Defense- Houston - has played well as of late, do you cut him, trade him or bring him back …

  5. For the longest time (unfortunately) I've been complaining up a storm over this regime. Realistically, I don't see any reason to stop complaining until actual results happen. However, I'm going to relent a tad and take a swig from Pix's kool-aid jug. Of course, I'm putting a dram of Scotch in it to keep me honest...but I digress. As a kid, I remember a comic book called. "What If?". Its premise was to play out the universe as if something else happened. For instance, an example could be "What if the Fanastic Four had different powers?" The comic would then go about showing how the "universe" would change, etc due to that premise. I recall it being interesting,…

There are fewer questions on defense, but Smith said he expects Mike Brown to move to free safety after playing strong safety last season. Brown has played free in the past. The move could have ramifications for Manning, who is considered a better free safety than strong. Smith said he expects Manning to compete at strong safety with Brandon McGowan, Kevin Payne and Adam Archuleta. He also left open the possibility the Bears could add a safety in the coming months. Unless Payne or McGowan are better Strong Safeties then Manning is Free safety this move makes no sense. They again are moving him to a new position as he starts to show improvement and get comfor…

  7. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...-terrell-owens/ IFL team dumps Terrell Owens Posted by Mike Florio on May 29, 2012, 6:50 PM EDT Getty Images Receiver Terrell Owens can’t get back in to the NFL. And now he’s out of the IFL. The Allen Wranglers have announced that Owens has been released. It’s hardly an amicable split. The statement takes multiple shots at Owens for not having the right level of commitment. “Our fans are amongst the best in the league and it is impossible to maintain a player when even our fans notice and comment on a player’s lack of effort both on and off the field,” owner Jon Frankel said. “We need to do wh…

Both QBs were drafted in 2020. Last year the Jaguars had the second most money in FAgency to spend. They had picks, 1--20--65--70 took edge Travon Walker, LB Devin Lloyd, OC Luke Fortner, LB Chad Muma. In Free Agency : Brandon Scheff (all pro OG), Oluokun ( ( leading tackler in 2021 NFL), Fatukasi/ DT (above average), Kirk/ WR ( high #2 ), Zay Jones/ WR, Evan Engram/ TE. They needed to rebuild their OL and WR, add playmaker. Sound familiar? They added 2 starters on their OL and Kirk, Jones and Engram. We have more work on defense but offensively we have already started with bringing in Claypool in the mix. The key will be what Poles doe…

Like it or not, the three calls on Alshon were legit offensive pass interference calls. What's more, they should be a damning enough reason to fire Drake's non-coaching ass. Allow me to explain... When one of the deep officials (Field Judge, Back Judge, Side Judge) look for offensive pass interference, they look for three specific things: 1. Push off (with arm extension makes it much easier to see) 2. Blocking while the ball is in the air 3. Driving through a defender I can honestly say I've never seen one WR get three OPI calls on him in a single game, but all three fall into one of the above categories. When those officials get graded, they are ask…

We all clearly have our idea of what we would like the Bears to do in the draft. But, unfortunaely, the Bears rarely do what we want them to, particularly in the draft. So, putting aside maybe how I WANT the draft to go, I thought I'd give a concerted effort to figure out how Jerry Angelo would want the draft to go. Here's what I came up with (get ready to hear the word "character" a lot): 1) Chris Williams, OT, Vanderbilt - Offensive tackle is probably the clearest need for the team, and the value in this draft is at OT. The fact that they let Ruben Brown and Fred Miller go without trying to sign replacements suggests to me they are depending on the draft for their …

I just found out the Shoopster is the OC for NC. Yeah, that would be the NC football team that went 4-8 this year. I know they aren't generally considered a football powerhouse or anything, I just wanted to let all the Shoop haters out there know bad things continue to happen to him.

I decided to start a thread where we can discuss everyone's fantasy about what Kevin White brings to the Bears offense. The reason why I used the word fantasy is because he is being projected into a role that he has yet to to actually perform in. Projection, prediction and fantasy are all similar terms when it comes to sports(imo). When the Bears picked White I was extremely happy as much as I was when Jeffrey was drafted in the second round. WTBS Jeffrey struggled in his first season with injury and conditioning and White played 1 year at division 1 before getting drafted by the Bears and the scouting reports say he was only asked to run a couple of routes. Hopefully…

In the last game against the Bears, Seattle had six sacks. After a quick analysis, it's pretty clear what needs to be fixed. Here is a list of the sacks (may not be in order)... 1 - Lewis - CB/S blitz - Outside - Omiyale bad read 2 - Curry - LB blitz - Outside - Webb bad read 3 - Milloy - CB/S blitz - Outside - Webb bad read 4 - Babineaux - CB/S blitz - Outside - Forte bad read 5 - Milloy - CB/S blitz - Outside - Webb bad read 6 - Babineaux/Clemmons - CB/S blitz - Outside - Webb bad read Aside from the misread by Forte, that's 5 sacks that have the following in common: 1 - From the outside of the tackle 2 - The OT made a bad read and dove inside…

Brian Urlacher? Tommie Harris? Tillman, Vasher, Briggs???? Nope, I think the critical link to the Bears defense in 2008 is Mike Brown. I am not saying we could not be successful with him on the IR. But I think his absence on the field takes more away from this defense than the absence of any other one player. We have good options at the other positions. Briggs could easily play MLB. We have players ready to replace Briggs. We have some nice looking DBs behind Vasher & Tillman. But we are not only weak in proven depth at Safety, but Brown brings far more to the defense than his playing skills at the position, he brings LEADERSHIP. Chicago Bears Strategy a…

Let me start off by saying that I have no problem with Knox being demoted in favor of Roy Williams for obvious reasons. They didn't bring Williams here to be a backup. The problem I have is Martz's BS reasoning for doing so.Basically saying that Knox didn't really earn the position in the first place over Bennett and it was handed to him.Really! How has Williams earned a starting position in this short time? I'll tell you sometimes I wish Martz would not talk and just coach. The other thing that has come into question about Knox is his professionalism. Things like his route running and attention to detail are starting to come out. If the recent whispers here in the local m…

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...om-back-injury/ Johnny Knox faces long road to recovery from back injury Posted by Michael David Smith on February 8, 2012, 4:12 PM EST AP Bears receiver Johnny Knox cracked a facet joint in his spinal column when he was bent backward awkwardly during a December game against the Seahawks, and when initial reports said he would need 3-4 months to recover, that sounded like good news compared to how ugly the injury looked. But now comes word that the 3-4 months estimate may have been overly optimistic. When a fan asked Knox on Twitter last week whether he thinks he can play next season, Knox didn’t answ…
