Interesting article from the Sun Times. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/three-w...se-is-changing/ Some things to watch for when we get to training camp. Clearly the sudden and decisive departure of Slauson may be part of a bigger puzzle with regards to what our Oline will be asked to do this year.

I didn't record the game, and I surely wasn't there, but I was wondering why the Bears couldn't throw the same way as the Patriots yesterday. What I mean is, I know Cutler is not Brady, but why wouldn't the 7-15 yard pass patterns be just as effective for the Bears as they were for the Patriots? Would not the Pats' defensive players slip just as the Bears' did? Don't they have to react just as much as the Bears' defense did? Leading up to the game I heard two coaching strategies: 1) Bill Cowher said teams should blitz. 2) Multiple people said the short passing game had an advantage in the snow because reacting to a route is harder than executing a route. …

This O-Line is now locked in for a few years. As long as they figure out who starts at LT (Jones/Trapilo), I like having this type of continuity.

For those that are actually watching the game. A win keeps our slim playoff chances alive (winning out and having DET and DAL both go 1-3, and SF 2-2). Otherwise a loss eliminates us from the playoffs and keeps are draft position intact.

I am posting this here as well in the fantasy forum to make sure everyone who is playing in the contests see the thread and are informed. For those not involved in the contests, sorry. Starting this week we will be having Thursday Night Games on NFL Network. I will be putting up the Picksheets asap, usually on Tuesday evenings after I get home from work. If you want to select the Thursday night game you will need to submit a COMPLETE picksheet prior to the start of the Thursday night game. I realize this does not give you time to think over the remaining games but do not worry. After the Thursday night game is over, you will be able to resubmit a new pic…

Maybe I'm nuts, but am I the only one who doesn't think Tice hasn't done a bad job as OC this year? A lot can be said for his OL, but even with that, he's been given dick to work with. We are getting everything we want from the OC. Cutler can audible and he's rolling out now. I would've liked to see more carries for Forte this year, but all around, it's his first year as an OC with 1 legitimate playmaker beside the QB. *prepares for war*

The OL, according to Tice, will be Webb-Williams-Garza-Louis-Carimi. Uh oh..

I was looking at a 9ers message board in their bears/9ers game thread to see what they had to say and I stumbled upon this....Probably not news but I haven't heard it before. Doug Farrar: One of the reasons the Bears' O-line is so weak is that Tice doesn't install protections in the preseason. Minimal prep with calls. Something tells me this won't happen in the Trestman era.

Bears Promote Mike Tice To Offensive Coordinator The Chicago Bears have promoted offensive line coach Mike Tice to offensive coordinator, Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports. Though Tice has head coaching experience in the NFL, he has never been a coordinator. An opportunity to coordinate the Tennessee Titans was blocked by the Bears last offseason. To account for a lack of experience at this position, Glazer adds that Tice will manage the running game and will be paired with a passing game coordinator, a situation occurred with the Arizona Cardinals, who had Russ Grimm coordinate the running game and Matt Miller run the passing game. http://www.macsfo…

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...ion-with-bears/ Mike Tice gets contract extension with Bears Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 16, 2011, 6:26 PM EST Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice didn’t get a chance to be the Titans offensive coordinator, but he did get a little extra money in his pocket from the Bears. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that Tice got a one-year extension through 2012 on Wednesday. (He presumably got a pay bump on the final year too.) In exchange, the man formerly known as Meathead essentially can’t complain about not getting his shot for a promotion. Tice wasn’t the only Bears assistant to get an exten…

This is why I don't want to go to games any more. http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/...ticket-prices-a $80 for the cheapest seat in the house?! And that's before some asshole scalper gets his hands on all the other tickets and charges a 50% markup (if I'm lucky). So, take the family and you pay a couple hundred, plus $20+ parking, plus $50 or so for grub/drinks. No thanks. I'd rather watch ALL the games and sit in the comfort of my home.
