What an off season! I don't think we've ever witnessed a year of such great turnover. We were one of the oldest teams in the NFL last year and are now one of the youngest. Going into the off season, we identified OL, DB and WR as the weakest units and that is where the greatest attention was given. Great job guys! We have several posts all related to Free agency and it starts Monday just going to keep it in one post. We signed a RB Darrynton Evans, let go by he Titans. He has great upside but was sidetracked by injuries. He has 4.41 speed. A high reward low risk player. We resigned 3 ERFAs, Mustifer.... Simmons....Horsted, I was surprised by Simmons coming back. As a Bear fan for many decades, it's hard to recognize the current process going on! A GM trying to build a team carefully. With all the free movement going on Brian Poles has been controlled with everything he does. I OTOH am so used to the quick fix approach now that I forgot about how Jim Finks built the first playoff team since 63. That took about 3 years and he had the same focus of building through the trenches, like the current GM. So I have to remind myself to wait for the process.

This would be a huge signing. He was one of the RGs I wanted at the beginning of free agency once they missed out on Bates. Very reliable and not many penalties. Would be a plug-and-play RG and instant upgrade there. A Whitehair-Patrick-Schofield interior would be very solid and an upgrade at basically 2 positions from last year (Patrick > Mustipher, Schofield > Daniels).

I've been noticing all the teams coming up with alternate helmets this year. The Bengal's white version, the Jet's black, etc... So it doesn't surprise me that the Bears will use an alternate orange helmet during the season. The Bears will wear the new orange helmets on Oct. 13 against the Washington Commanders and on Oct. 30 at the Dallas Cowboys.

This is pure speculation but the logic behind this deal makes sense from the Chiefs perspective if they have their sites set on a Superbowl in 2022. Proposal: Chiefs get Quinn. Bears get pick 96. There has to be something behind it that Poles found out about while Soup was on vacation and that was it. There are no sacred cows in this organization. Poles is the man and he's owning it. I thought this was interesting. Considering it is a 17-game season, most people see the Bears going 6-11 or worse. With the Bears schedule, it seems like this would be less likely than the over, but if Fields doesn't take a leap in his 2nd season, then it seems way more likely.

I feel like if there is going to be a surprise on offense, it is probably going to be one of the new WRs. However, after hearing about Getsy's offense, and the commitment to the run game and play-action, I think Khalil Herbert may be a breakout candidate as well. It seems like the schene fits him much better than Monty. Additionally, I could see Monty as a potential trade candidate at the deadline as they won't get any comp picks if they bring on several FAs next offseason. Thoughts?

Johnson practicing with ‘2s’. Vildor and Gordon currently with ‘1s’. Probably nothing more than Johnson missing earlier voluntary workouts and Eberflus needing to see more out of him, both in play and leadership.

With the June 1 cap savings applied, the Bears now have over $15M in cap space. So there is a good chance they pick up a few more FAs in this class over the next few weeks. It will be interesting to see where they target. I hope they go after a RG at least.

The Bears lost Tuesday's practice because they apparently exceeded the amount of contact activity earlier in the offseason. Two views on this right now. One is the team is setting the new tone and culture at all costs and losing one non-contact practice is worth the price to have contact earlier in the offseason. On the flip side, this is the second public mishap by the new regime, first the Larry O contract (which potentially prevented the signing of another top FA) and now this.
