Unfortunately, I've already started my mock drafts this year. Here's a few for Yalls review. For the most part, I am a trade down whore.

Seems like he'll get a new gig. Will be curious to see who Bears replace him with. He was a tremendous hire and will be a big loss (albeit the draft pick compensation for losing him will be nice too). Latest is he is down to the final 2 with Washington. I haven't heard whether he is in the running with Carolina, New England, San Diego, or Oakland. Or am I mistaken and Oakland has a GM? Are there any other teams I'm leaving out? Certainly seems unlikely with that many GM jobs, that the Bears won't lose him.

I guess its who you think the NFL wants as the first game. We will be better latter in the year so I would rather we play our division games later. I think if they have the top two QBs drafted play on Monday night. They could sell the new QBs to the nation.

Based on the lack of a 4th rounder (used for Booker), the Bears have to nail their first 4 picks with 75+ picks between picks after pick #72. #10 #39 (CAR) #41 #72 -Following Picks will change, but currently: #147 #197 (PIT) #218 or #246 (CLE) #233 (CIN) Depending on the board, they may want to move back with one of their 2nds or the 3rd to pickup another pick. Examples: Moving from#41 to #48 would net a mid-4th Moving from #41 to #55 would net a late 3rd. Moving from #73 to #85 would net a mid-4th.

The 2026 Bears rookie class could be one of their best as a whole. They added levels of talent to both offense and defense. There is a good chance this class along with some UDFAs contribute early and become playmakers on a team loaded with young talent. Thieneman has elite athleticism and instincts. He will be a playmaker especially paired with Bryant. Add Muhammad who will compete with Stevenson or maybe play NB if Gordon misses time. They are lining him both inside and out in OTAs. I think Jacobs is never to be heard from again even if he comes back late. If Lloyd stays healthy or Kaleb Johnson shows his stuff, I think they dumb Jacobs for the salary contribution. IF they struggle with the run game, they will want him back. What does everyone think of Kyler Murray? I think he preforms better than being projected. Lions are going to be a juggernaut on offense but as usual, their defense is injured again. They have a rookie RT, Penell is playing LT and a new center with no fanfare. I dont think they start the season hitting the ground running.

Number one for me is obvious: HOU - Monster draft. Clowney is a stud. Su'a Filo is a stud. Both start day 1. CJ Fiedorowicz has a good chance of starting day 1. Same goes for Louis Nix. And for that matter, if this Savage kid has what a lot of people are saying, he might end up starting. If not now, maybe next year. The other 9, in no specific order: ATL - Very good draft. Matthews is a 10-year bookend, and Hageman is a DT with great upside. They needed speed in the defensive backfield, and Southward has it. I also liked Shembo in college. Just thought I'd open a thread for tonight's game. I hope Cutler plays a quarter with the starters and then Jimmy shows he can handle this offense at least as well as we saw him do last week. Obviously the D Line will be a big thing I'll be watching. If they can build on the success they had last week that'll be very positive. #1 goal: Stay healthy!

Take it for what it is worth. Clearly the Bears and Ballard are interested. I think the Bears are lined up to meet with Ballard on Wednesday and are meeting with some other GM candidates today / tomorrow. My guess is by Friday Bears will introduce their new GM, if not sooner.

Obviously there's no way to know exactly how much say Fangio had in the drafts when he was in SF, but he had to have some say, right? A lot of this could be just me sipping the kool-aid, but for awhile now I've been thinking that this D they put together COULD be pretty good if all it's parts play to their potential. DL Ray McDonald- I think the off the field stuff is really blinding people on just how good McDonald is. Here's a guy who in Fangios very successful time in SF played the 3rd most snaps, so he was obviously a key part to a very good defense. Who would have thought that a Kyle Orton led Bear team with many missing key defensive players would of whooped the first place Green Bay Packers? The Bears got to examine Orton, Wolfe, Williams, McBride, Toeiana and Kennedy. What they learned IMO is that Orton can go into 2008 competing for the #1 spot but most likely claiming the #2. The Bears should sign Grossman and release Griese and spend a first day draft pick on a QB. Running back in 2008 will not see much change as long a Cedric Benson can come back 100% healthy.
