year after year after year after year- incompetent offense. Its so damn depressing. Then this year I watch some of the preseason games and the defense looks like crap, and with this draft it looks like the management blows. The only bright spot is special teams and that's even in jeopardy becuase they are trying to make a HOF return man a wider reciever because they are too imcompetent to draft and bring one along.

It appears that DePaul and Angelo had a decent relationship however, the relationship between DePaul and Smith was not the best. It appears that DePaul was instrumental in obtaining Jay Cutler and other notables as John Tait and Thomas Jones. So it appears that all the decisions are going to remain with two people to hopefully turn this team around in 2010. While I love the Bears colors and uniform but think its time to improve or makes some enhancements like the helmet that I found online for and using as my avatar. Last year we had a thread for all the rumblings that went on at the Senior Bowl, perhaps we can do that again this year, mods pin this if you agree. Anyway, per Biggs Iowa TE CJ Fiedorowicz said first team he met with at Senior Bowl was #Bears I'm somewhat intrigued by them even talking to a potential "impact" TE. By impact I mean a player who will contribute. Right now C.J. is slotted in the 3-4 round range, which if the Bears fix a good deal of their defensive problems in FA and then grab another couple defensive guys to start the draft I'd love to see them grab another big TE. I keep hearing the rumblings about the Titans taking Mariota #2. If they do, I wonder what they would want for Mettenberger? I would prefer him to pretty much any QB left in the draft, and he's the kind of big, strong-armed, pocket passer I would think Fox/Gase would prefer (see Brock Osweiler). If we don't think Cutler is long for this team, I wonder if it would be worth trading a draft pick for Mettenberger as a Cutler contingency plan and QB of the future. He was a 6th rounder last year (5 spots in front of Fales), but you can't get him for that now. I guess this hinges on how the new regime feels about Fales, but it seems like something that would be worth a call…

Bears draft a safety from Cal. Personally, I'm puzzled but my guess is we don't think Manning is coming back. I haven't heard any commentary yet on our pick. Still, I had other needs on our list that I would have opted for before taking this guy.

They are reporting sources say Chester Taylor is gone. This was just reported on the Waddle and Silvy show and I'm waiting for an update from Jeff Dickerson who covers the Bears for this station.

I think all the OL people we would draft will be gone. I think we would like to draft Austin and he will be gone. I think the players that drop down to us will be DE/DT types, but I think Trufant is ranked right around our pick in the big boards I have been looking at and think he will be our pick. This is not the player, I would like, that would be Ogletree at this stage but, think with his off field problems, we let him slide.There is a real good chance we move down but for sake of this thread, we pick Turfant/CB.
