  1. Sounds like we may not be interested. Hope Briggs is full of S**T as usual. I was hoping we would sign Barnes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NFL | Barnes close to signing with a team? Sun, 08 Mar 2009 14:45:28 -0700 Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports it is believed unrestricted free-agent OT Khalif Barnes (Jaguars) is close to signing with an unidentified NFL team. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bears | Not interested in Barnes Sun, 08 Mar 2009 14:45:13 -0700 Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears are not interested in unrestricted free-agent OT Khalif Barnes (Jaguars), according to a source. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  2. Is it Barnes or Smith they are saying teams are concerned about back injuries?
  3. Anyone love the AFLAC commercial where Yogi Berra in the Barber Shop completely confuses the AFLAC bird? It is one of my favorites. On the score today on the way home two things came up on one call that made me feel as confused as the bird on that ad that had me shaking my head in disbelief. The caller suggested we trade Forte in a package deal with some picks to get Cutler. This is one of the dumbest things I think I have ever heard. Then, the radio host says he does not think it would ever happen because, for one reason, other teams would not consider Forte as an elite RB that they would want to trade for?????? DUMB DUMB DUMB, AND DUMBER!
  4. I hope we get the 3rd round compensatory pick everyone seems to be assuming we will get. Logic would say we should receive a 3rd from the NFL but they have screwed us in the past. It seems whereas most everyone is so negative when it comes to the Bears management, they have faith in the NFL hierarchy. I guess I am just the opposite.
  5. Agree, happy to see Cassell in KC & TJH in SEA. Either or both of those 2 in MIN would have worried me.
  6. I agree with you guys. To overpay free agents gets you no where. How much do you want to bet that Haynesworth tanks in WAS just like the vast majority of their BIG$$$ FAs have. These FAs are getting way to much money and in many cases slack off afterwords. Jared Allen was an exception for MIN (unfortunately) but there are few FAs who are considered prime time guys who work their ass off after getting the big pay day. It seems like key position players are especially risky in FA. I do think the "TJH" wpuld be one player who would not slack off. However, in our system, I am not sure he would be the answer. I still would prefer see us go after a player like Nate Washington (has he signed yet?) or D Henderson. I think they would be good bargains for us and would be good additions. I suspect we will sign a few more, but not until the dust settles and FAs & their agents accept reality.
  7. Maclin, Loadholdt, & Byrd for me.
  8. An article on the Sun Times site says 10 teams were seeking him as a FA. Actually a nice little article. Bears one of 10 Teams trying to sign our new Free Agent OLman
  9. When you click reply and the text box comes up, there are three selections at the top, "insert special item", "Veranda" (font), and "SIZE". JUST SELECT SIZE TO CHANGE
  10. This guy could be a steal in the 4th or 5th round.
  11. Draft Pick Value Chart

Good for them. I would love for them to get him rather than go for a guy like Cassell. Rosey threw for 6 TDs anf 10 INTs with a 79.5 QB rating with an excellent RB and one of the top if not the best WR in the league in AJ and an excellent #2 in Walter. How do you think he will do in MIN? He will lose more games than he wins because he will throw up picks in pressure situations.
  13. From an article on the Sun Times, this is a bit scarey..... (maybe we should trade down )
  14. So he is one of 60 players we have chosen to interview. That narrows it down a bit, LOL. I agree, Free Safety is one of my concerns. My major concern it to have a good FA signing for ORT, FS, & WR then draft an ORT, FS, & WR in the draft. After that, whatever we can get to help the team, maybe DE, QB prospect, OG/C, complementary RB to Forte, FB, ???? Oh, and get St Clair signed! He is versatile. He can play either side OG or OT. We need him!
  15. I doubt he will push it. He has produced such a body of work over the last 2 years I do not see him dropping out of the top 5 in the draft even without running a "Pro Day".
  16. Angelo feels attitude, coaching will key defense's resurgence This part of the item on the CB site irritates me, how about you? I'm sorry, but that seems to be a negative that I would not expect to be said by a GM or HC.
  17. I agree, totally uncalled for. We all have different opinions. That is why it is fun to exchange those on the forum. To use words like idiotic and retarded when addressing another poster's opinion is totally unnecessary. This is something we use to see all the time from "88".
  18. No Hail Mary here: Hanie in position to be the No. 2 quarterback After Orton returned from his injury I was disappointed he did not regain his earlier form. I thought it was reported he was nearing full recovery from his ankle injury. If that was the case why was his play so bad compared to earlier in the season? In this interview I see he was no where near 100% after returning from the injury. Heck, he is only reported to be about 95% now: I am pleased he is indicating Hanie will get a chance to be the #2. I know this upsets many, but quite frankly, it excites me. I also think we will draft a QB prospect on day 2.
  19. He showed, weighed in, but chose to not work out announcing he had just begun working out about 10 days ago because he was looking for an agent. This did not sit well with some of the team reps. Then, without telling anyone, he decided he would return to prepare for his pro day by taking a flight at 6am this morning. Some are heavily criticizing him for the lack of communication with the team reps and the powers to be that run the combine. So, it may not effect him at all, but some might begin to question his intelligence for the mistakes he made, the comment he made when he did not participate in the weight lifting, and his lack of work ethics. Small stuff when you consider how talented he is, but when you are investing the money teams have to pay for a top 10 selection, it might cause him to slip some, but how far?
  20. I doubt Crabtree will drop much at all. However, my "wishfull thinking" would be OT A Smith, thought to be the best OT in the draft, may very well drop big time do to his statements and "no show without notification". Could he drop to 18?
  21. Very interesting. I do not see the Bears going after him but who knows? If we were to spend big bucks in FA I would prefer OL but only time will tell what JA has in mind.
  22. 1st, I do not see Boldin going anywhere. 2nd, Until our O schemes change, a top Tier WR FA or Trade, IMO, very unlikely. I think we will see mid level WR FAs brought in and a 1st day WR draftee.
  23. I am not ready to write off Williams as a wasted pick.
  24. When St Clair played OG 2 years ago, I thought he looked very good. I think he would accept the role.
  25. Assuming we resign ST Clair LOT = Williams LOG = Beekman (maybe Buenning) OC = Olin K ROG = St Clair (possibly ROT if we go High in FA or Draft for OG instead of OT). ROT = Draft or FA Now if Buenning is healthy, he stays, and may start. Garza stays. Metcalf needs to go, perios. Reed & Balogh will have a hard time making the roster. It will be a numbers game.
