  1. 2. It won't be long until we find out, 28 days and counting. I have a hunch they go QB if they have first choice, meaning Garrett and probably Thomas are gone. QBs are rarely immediate impact players and at some point they have to start taking risks and go for the long run.. Trading down would be great too, that would mean another team wants the QB we can take and are willing to overpay. I would support which ever direction they go, but for some reason I think he has a QB targeted and will pull the trigger if things fall right.
  3. I see Pace taking the first QB to be honest. If he wants a DB, he will trade down some.
  4. I would not be surprised if they take another OLB high. Looking down the road you can see the Bears moving on from Houston, McPhee, and Young. This draft is supposedly deep at the position, so if they like one, go for it. We say we need a great 5T, but they have Bullard ready to step in. On accounts Ive read, Bullard will be a great run stopper and eventually develop pass rush ability. Lets see how he develops. They can find late round depth or a FA to help out this season. CB-We have more than enough under contract. The problem is having that legit #1. This draft is deep, so I expect one to be drafted and if they can get Sidney Jones, he can recover why they sort through the many we already have. S-same as CB, they have a bunch under contract to find more about out. Taking one high could happen or they can wait it out and see if Demps, Amos, Quarty-Jones, Bush, and Carson-Houston have. TE-Talent is deep and the Bears need a long term solution and the WRs may need help. With Sims signed, going for a great receiving threat may be the way they go. Njoku, Engram, Hodges are names to watch high (2-3). OT-The Bears could use two OT's down the road. I think going with the same crew as last year is fine, but in 2018 they might want to cut Sitton and Massie and save cap. Leno will be a little more eager since he is playing for his big contract, let's see how he does. Getting a young RT and a swing OT is in the two year plan. LT depends on Leno. WR-This year we have a handful of one year prove its. They will take a shot on one in the draft between rd 2-4. QB-This is a mystery on what the plan is. They can shock us and take one in the 1st or take a shot on Chad Kelly with a 5th. Pace will not go another year without drafting one. No position is ruled out, I am looking at some logic and justifying why they may draft a certain way.
  5. I think they stick with same group one more season. 2018 will be revamped. Lenos contract expires. Sitton and Massie will likely be cut, Sitton would be due 7million or his dead cap is 666,000. Massie is only due 4million or dead cap of 500,000. Grasu could then take over C and Whitehair to LG. Leno may or may not be re-signed, so fnding two OT's by 2018 will be a priority.
  6. Put him on the hot seat and see how he responds. With competition already brought in, he should have felt the heat turned up and now this lights another flame. He has a lot to prove.
  7. You know I would love this one.
  8. I see some mocks where that happens and i am encouraged, like Watson ornKizer falling. . Then many mocks have ARZ, KC, HOU,PIT, and NO picking the QBs late leaving the cupboard bare. I think trading our 4th and 2nd to move up nets us the 26th pick. It may take our 3rd to get up enough for anyone except Mahomes. I know Pace would do it if he believes in the QB. Regardless, getting a high profile QB in the next year or two needs to happen.
  9. My question about this coming draft is if the Bears seriously address the QB position. We know 3 is too high and at 36 we would be lucky if one fell. Trading down will be tough as many explained, so what do we do? Count on Glennon and build the D, trade up to get Kizer or Watson, or grab a late rounder like Peterman who can be our Orton or better with a 3rd and look to 2018 for a better prospect? I think Peterman can be decent in about 2 years. If they avoid the QBs, I really hope they go all in in 2018. Better class for sure, but can Bear fans take another poor to mediocre season?
  10. I agree. Bullard-graded as a high 2nd rounder. He should be ready to start and could excel. Hall-the CB I wanted and he showed glimpses of talent. Injury limited him but he should be better yr 2. Carson-Houston-small school stud that had more to learn. Eventually he will take off. Bush-still has gas left in tank. His limited playing time shows he made strides, still has a way to go With a year of nfl experience, this is the year they take the next step. Push their position competition and be ready to step in when called on.
  11. Peterman would be a good pick, but no way should they move up for him. He would be over drafted with the high 3rd and is a good value around round 4. If the Bears take him with the 3rd it would be understandable since it is a thin class, but do not give up picks. If you are gonna trade up, trade up for a higher ceiling. The timing of the Sanchez signing had nothing to do with pro days either, just the Bears having insurance in case they miss on a QB or that QB isn't ready to be a #2 right away.
  12. Looks like they had a plan are quietly put it together. They spent a little more on Sims than you would have expected but now it is coming together. Speed WRs in Wheaton and Wright and a bruiser back in Howard.
  13. Packers are in desperation mode. They never signed fa before like this. There recent drafting must have been bad for them to start signing fa's.
  14. I don't think they dislike the QBs in this class, just not going to over draft one. Even a top 5 candidate would take time to adjust and not be ready the first portion of the season. Shaw is coming off a broken leg and may not be ready also. Sanchez is insurance/depth and if the rookie catches on right away then he is cut. They will take one between rounds 2-4 imo, we may get lucky and have Kizer, Watson, or Mahomes.
  15. Unfortunately this isn't the year. If they are lucky, one of the top 3 is available with the 2nd RD pick but doubtful.
  16. They have a lot of mediocre or worse, but many are still young were they haven't had enough time in the league to really evaluate. They are missing a ball hawk S and shut down CB IMO, which leaves Hooker or Lattimore as possibilities RD1 and they both have health questions. Would 2nd round FS prospects Budda Baker or Marcus Williams be a better gamble. I like Williams, has a little more height. Sidney Jones would be my shut down CB choice, he says he will be able to play this season but I would still redshirt him. 1. Allen 3T/5T or Thomas OLB/5T - could make a case for either 2. Watson/Kizer QB or Marcus Williams/Baker FS - if one of the QBs there have to take. Otherwise FS 3-Sidney Jones CB-many would hate drafting him, but could be franchise shutdown CB for years. We have many 1 yr stop gaps 4-Jordan Leggett TE-Butt, Hodges, or Sprinkle considered-great class and need a long term solution 4-Eddie Jakson FS or Peterman QB -depends on round 2 5-Ryan Switzer WR-future slot and KR or Holliday WR 7-Zane Gonzalez K-because finding a gem at a position this late is tough. Missing out on that OT, but can sign another stoo gap and shoot for 2018 class.
  17. With FA signings, I can see them avoid CB unless they really feel good about a prospect. I think there is room for a Safety, which there are rumors DeAndre' Hall may make the move. Cornerbacks- Normally about 6 make a roster. Tracy Porter - lock Marcus Cooper - lock Prince Amukamara - lock Cre'Von LeBlanc - lock Kyle Fuller Bryce Callahan -lock Deiondre' Hall - lock Jon Banks Sherrick McManis Safety - Normally 4 make a roster Quentin Demps - lock Adrian Amos - lock Harold Jones-Quartey Deon Bush - lock DeAndre Houston-Carson Chris Prosinski
  18. http://walterfootball.com/draft2017charlie.php 1-Jonathan Allen DE- The 5T can really tip the scale for making Chicagos front 7 elite 2-Deshaun Watson QB- they feel he is still over drafted here, but it would be a steal in my book 3-Zay Jones WR- With the loss of AJ and unknown of White, I can see this pick. Would be ok 4-Jeremy Sprinkle TE-Early on I was big on Sprinkle as all around TE 4-Brenden Langley CB-Dont know much on him but seems like a good prospect. I didn't catch were Jordan Leggett went, but could pair him up with Watson if he is available. Would also consider OLB or S round 3 if a stud is still there.
  19. That could work, like you I think a 5T holds more value but a stud S can lock down the backfield for years also. The #3 pick is a pain
  20. If that is the case, I hope they have a plan in place to be in the running for a QB next year. Hard to hang a hat on having long term success with Glennon and Shaw.
  21. If they do sign him, cross QB off the first 3 rounds. They can bring in a late round prospect to compete with Shaw.
  22. Round 1- I think they should have it down to Allen, Thomas, or Watson at #3. Allen has the arthritis, reminds me of Tommie Harris in a way, but he could be our good Suh. Thomas could be Lamarr Houston 2. Houston was 273 and beefed up to 300 before dropping down to 285. He also can become Justin Smith. Watson could be RG3, being limited or Russell Wilson. I avoided the DBs because the house is full of young unprovens and the draft is deep. Round 2 - Kizer, Mahomes at QB, Baker, Obi Melinfonwu S, Conley, Wilson, A Jackson CB. A OT, TE, DT, OLB might slip and be our choice too. A lot depends on if Ricky Jean Francsis gets signed, that happens and I see QB as our pick and S round 2.
  23. If Bears sign a 5T, I do not see it far fetched. The guy is a beast and can be considered BPA. ILB is also somewhat a need since Trevathan can possibly miss half the season and Freemans age/contract shows he won't be around after his contract expires after this season. It is a dark horse pick, but Chicago likes its great LB tradition and he can carry on the legacy.
  24. Thomas does play at a high motor. It is possible they go that route, but I still think they sign another DT like Ricky Jean Francis and go QB/CB/S with the 1st. Bullard will also be in the mix more, being a 3rd round pick they will eventually look for him to start.
  25. Greg Gabriel thinks different. He does not think he can play 5T. He played at 260 last season and should be about 290. He gained weight for the combine but still measured at 273. At OLB, he would be a pass rush only as he has never played much in coverage and would need to learn there. He basically said Thomas can be a great pro more so in a 4-3, but not a good fit for the Bears. At pick #3, the Bears would take him for OLB, but he would be over drafted since he is a tweener and would need work in coverages.
