  1. Wish there was a way to utilize Fuller, whether at CB, FS, or in a trade. Coaching stability is a must, because we cannot keep changing schemes. Still have a handful of players left over from the Mel Tucker cover who era (haven't forgotten have we lol) that have another year before we flush....Fuller, Sutton, Fergusan. Sutton is by far the best in that class for defensive players.
  2. His sources was probably Mike Mulligan. I have read reasonable chatter about Fangio not happy though. He is considering a jump to HC at some point and coaching the Bears is not helping his cause. If I was Pace I would encourage Fangio to stick around one more year when firing Fox becomes reasonable.
  3. I agree, the Bears are not likely to pay Fox to stay home. If there is any truth to this, why not Josh McDaniels? Fangio may be the guy too, Bears may not want to lose him like Gase. One thing, I like the direction of this D. The offense needs an overhaul. Only a few short weeks and we will see.
  4. I would love to see the Bears go all out on the Defense, but they really need to invest in the offense. We know it will be a combination of both, but if it came to a choice it has to be offense because this team needs to establish a long term QB.
  5. I see this scenerio taking place if we don't get the QB we like. I think we go CB and QB rounds 1 and 2.
  6. Going through all of those drafts shows you QB is more miss than hit. Alot has to do with the way the NFL is ran, they need to figure a way to let teams hold onto their prospects and get them enough practice time to develop them. With teams firing coaches every 3 years or so, continuity is hard to establish also. QBs can be made if the team is established, like NE or GB. The Bears seem to be close because Hoyer or Barkley look effiecent.
  7. That might be the way to go. I like Luke Falk and think he will be the Derek Carr of the draft. RD1 might end up being the top CB in the draft as much as I'd rather not. 1 Marlon Humphrey CB 2 Deshaun Watson/Falk/other QB 3 Chad Wheeler LT 4 Jordan Leggett TE 4 Chad Kelly QB
  8. Eddie Royal - cannot stay healthy.
  9. Love to get him in the 4th or 3rd if they move down. The OT class is weak IMO, G & C seem decent so teams may over value OTs this year. Mason Cole Michigan is another guy I like even if they have him slotted at C, he might make a decent swing or RT.
  10. My target OT is Chad Wheeler USC. The Bears line requires mobility and he has great feet. Add at least one OT if not two this draft in top 4 rounds.
  11. How are the Bears supposed to trade him, he is a UFA. They will have to find a way to sign him because if he walks, they will not get any compensation picks. AJ is one up on the Bears IMO, he now can force a franchise tag or demand a contract in his favor. If the Bears do not meet his demand, he signs elsewhere and the Bears get nothing.
  12. I will take it. Was rooting for Jax to beat Minny, but not happening. Would be nice to end up with the 2nd pick that way we get either Garrett or the QB of our choice.
  13. If somehow this was true, I hope they completely remove Ted Phillips from the football side of things. This would be their biggest step which should have happened years ago.
  14. The link did not work and I think spellcheck inserted Polish, but I think this is what you were getting to. Bill Polian is open to return to the NFL.
  15. They are saying ILB Rueben Foster is a better prospect than Ragland, but ILB is no longer a high need. My Bears top 5 board so far: Myles Garrett OLB Mitch Trubisky QB Trade Down to 10ish (Clev's 2nd 1st and one of their 2nds) Jonathan Allen DE Marlon Humphrey CB
  16. I do not see any way Miami can do it with their cap, unless Tannehill was part of the deal. I like the thought of Cleveland, who is a power broker this offseason with 4 picks in the first two rounds and about 60 million in cap. Maybe offer Cutler and our 3rd for their later 2nd. Cleveland can take Garrett or Fournette #1, a QB to groom at #9 from Philly, still have pick #33 and trade pick 50 for Cutler and our third which is going to be around 68. The Jets will be about a million over the cap next year and will need to unload. Any chance they part with Wilkerson this time? Cutler would work well with their OC and reunited with Marshall/Forte. The Jets will have a high pick and can add more talent to their D to replace Wilkerson with Malik McDowell or maybe Allen. Any way, the Bears will need to start shopping him soon if bowlingtwig is correct that his guarantee kicks in a few days after the superbowl. Not much time to shop damaged goods. **edit- Just seen a rumor that says Cleveland will have Jimmy Garapollo high on there QB list. Makes more sense than trading for a higher contract like Cutler.
  17. Agree! He will at least be franchised if a deal cannot be reached. Jeffery holds higher value than a 3rd compensation pick that the Bears will likely never recieve if he signs elsewhere. Look at the Bears cap space and see that they will have to be in the market for talented free agents themselves which would negate the Jeffery comp. Sign him and I would love to see Calais Campbell DE added to the front with Goldman/Hicks.
  18. I am still in the hunt for a QB, but the Bears have to be all in on what it takes to develop one. Draft players to develop around him and upgrade the offensive coaching too. I'm ok drafting heavy offense and spending some cash on FA defensive players. 1- Mitch Trubisky QB NC 2-OJ Howard TE ALA 3-Tyrell Crosby RT ORE 4-Chidobe Awuzie CB COL 4-Julien Davenport LT-Bucknell 5-David Jones S- Richmond 7-WR - - - - - - Free Agents: 1-Alshon Jeffery WR 2- Calais Campbell DE 3-Dre Kirkpatrick CB
  19. Nice input AZ! I like Kevin King and Davenport myself more as 4th RD picks. My thought on D Watson doing well is if he lands with the right team. It will take a team like DAL with a great oline/run game to cover his flaws.
  20. I know the Bears tried to claim him earlier, but Baltimore elevated him to the 53 man to protect him. When they tried to sneak him back on to the practice squad the Bears grabbed him off of waivers. He started off as a WR and BAL had him bulk up to move to TE. Don't know much more about him, but it would be nice if he can fill a potential need we may otherwise fill with a 1st-4th RD draft pick.
  21. Looked alright, but wait until defenses can adjust to him before making this call.
  22. What is the scoop on USC LT Chad Wheeler? I know he had law issues last season but his mobility seems like a great fit at either LT if he can improve his pass blocking against speed rushers or maybe a RT because of his superb run blocking. He is a lineman I am intrigued with and I think Kyle Long can help keep him inline with being a pro. Some mocks ignore him otherwise I seem him ranked around 90th which may allow the Bears to draft him in the 3rd. Since we have bigger needs at CB and QB in this draft, I am ok drafting two OTs that can be developed in rds 3-4. Wheeler and Julien Davenport are late names to watch. They can put competition on Leno/Massie and hopefully subplant them sooner than later. I think if the Bears can elevate their oline into a top 5 group, build on their run game, someone like Watson can succeed at QB with his game. He gets the Cam Newton or Tyrod Taylor comparisons, but maybe with work a Russell Wilson one. Put the right situation in front of the right guy and we may have something. I used Watson bc he wins, leads, and has a high football IQ.
  23. Ever notice every draft seems to suck with our projected slot position? (1) QB should be taken with our first, Pace supposedly tried trading to get Mariotta and Wentz the past drafts. He seems to be on target for the right guys. Peppers, Garrett, or my 3-4 DE guy Malik McDowell are worth consideration but drafting QB has to be the main priority. I prefer Kizer's measurables. (2) CB - The Bears may get lucky and have a RD1 talent slide here: Desmond King, Sidney Jones, Adoree' Jackson (3) OT - I like Chad Wheeler for the type of system the Bears want to run. Wheeler is nasty and can move. He should be available in late RD2 or 3, our #2 will be a little high for him IMO (4) OT - I would double up on OT's and take the best RT prospect
  24. I wouldn't be sure about that. The Bears will have plenty of cap with Cutler. The Bears went through 3 QBs this season, look at how many Cleveland has gone through and the rest of the NFL(Rothlisberger, Luck, Smith, Bridgewater, Garapolo, Palmer, Romo, all missed games) If Pace/Fox think Cutler will spoil the drafted QB, then it is possible. The only other way would be trading him and it has to be for decent value, like a 3rd minimum. We want to move on, but doing so just for that reason could be a huge mistake.
  25. Every week it seems the Bears have been cursed losing player after player...serious. Good thing is it helps secure a top 5 pick...but our last 4 picks are out Floyd, White, Fuller, and Long. Good thing McClellin bolted and is healthy in New England.
