I don't think having more cap space is all that good to be honest, we are already 3rd with 60 million. The Bears are one of the top teams with the least amount of players under contract also, maybe 5 teams with fewer. The Bears are also one of the highest in terms of having dead cap space, with 6.5 million this year, that is a star player "dead". I think they would have informed and released any vets early like they did with Bushrod if they were planning on doing so. I do not see anyone else getting released until they sign a replacement.

Still have a hope for Perry. Ervin is in the same mold, but has stats. Conferences may have a little to do with it, but Ervins numbers are very good. 2500+ all purpose yds to Perry's 1000 all purpose on their best season. Ervin in round 6-7 would be nice as a late rounder.

I think he rises some if he puts up a low 40. I haven't seen this video before but it gave me Hester impressions but with a real position. They even list him at 202, which if he weighs closer to that will also improve his stock. Would the Bears spend a 5th on him? Fox likes his RBs in all shapes (Hillman 5'9" 196) Pace helped bring in Cook for the Saints (5'10" 185), who is also similiar in size. Forte opens the door for another RB As for the DB, he looked like be had good size also.

My late round flyer (6-7th) would be San Jose RB Tyler Ervin. He will get some name recognition at the combine with his speed. His size is not really NFL caliber to be an every down back, but as a ST'er or 3rd down guy, and slot wr, I think he can do some good things. Tyler Ervin 5'10" 177 Percy Harvin 5'11" 184 "As an athlete, Ervin is one of the most explosive players in the country" "Defenders left in space one-on-one have little or no chance" Bring in a "wow" guy to mix in some on offense. If an injury happens to Langford, we should still be able to find guys off the scrap heap.

I just read that Denver is very high on Prescott and may spend a 2nd RD pick on him. I knew other GM's and Scouts read our boards and use our superfan scouting

Turner is a new name to me. I will have to look him up. I would also prefer to go D, but Stanley is a player that should be top 5. If he drops, I don't think you pass him even if they sign Osemele.

I like that scenario unless somehow Stanley is there at 11. But I really don't see him dropping past Baltimore or NYG either. If they can sign Osemele, then taking someone like Johnstone late would be great. He needs a year to rebuild strength I think, but he is why Oregon had Long as a G, he was the better player.

I think AZ said he didn't like Killebrew, I am intrigued with him. I would be happy with Kearse, Cash, or Killebrew in the 3rd or 4th round. As for your mock #8, I would be pleased with no objections.

Ryan Clady may be a cap casualty if he does not restructure. One, would the Bears be tempted in his services? Two, Cladys contract would help Denver keep some of there younger talent like Jackson or Trevathon. They may also cut Talib and Ware to keep as much of the core.

I still think a good SS will make this team better. I also like 3-4 guys in that range more so than CB which I think can be found rds 5-6. I was only saying if we do not like any SS' s, then we still have Rolle.

That is some good news. That space there says they should spend. That is money to put into Shea's, Long's, and Fuller's draft classes and to think any of those guys should break a bank besides AJ. . I think two good players won't hurt the future seeing that.

Finding a S is not a necessity, but a way to improve. We have Rolle under contract, but finding a young replacement that can roam the field as an extra LB would be a bonus. Killebrew, Cash, Kearse, and Joseph are options, Joseph being on the smaller side, but also a violent hitter. I would love to trade down a few slots and go 1-ReggieRagland 2-Darron Lee That combo would make the middle sick with two hard hitters.

I think my question or thought is, if we add FA's now, how will it effect the cap years down the road? Will it put the Bears in a situation were they cannot pay Kyle Long, Kyle Fuller, Eddie Goldman, etc. Right now, we are looking good at signing some talent, but we are only looking at this years cap. That may be why Pace has said he will not go big in FA. Maybe similiar to last years class as Stinger lays out. As a GM, you have to gage this draft before FA begins if you are going to spend. Is there a talent at a position of need they won't be able to draft? CB is one I do not see as getting a starter and Tracy Porter may fill that need, but his health has to be a concern. DT seems deep, so they may go draft there. LB has some interesting prospects, but round 1 may be a reach, so Trevathon may be a good investment too. Offensive line has one red flag at RG and I am starting to like Allen or they could go big with Osemele. Should be another fun offseason.

I don't think he fits NE main RB preference, but he will excel in the 3rd down guy. He could really blow it up if they use him in the wes welker role in the short pass game as the escape man. I fear GB picking him up. Who else needs a reliable RB and someone to mentor Lacy who is in the wonka factory.

m I said the same thing earlier in a different post, but only seeing Jack and Ragland. I thought Ragland tackled like a machine and went through the ball carrier. Jack seemed to arm tackle or shoulder toss. Regardless, unless you are drafting Luke Kuechly, I don't think you take ILB at #11 unless he has a similiar grade.

What would be great about targeting a good starting G in FA is the draft can focus largely on D as you've mentioned. Taking a later pick on Johnstone would be my oline target because he needs a year or two to regain full NFL strength in his knees and he can be ready to replace Leno. Rd1 target: a. Myles Jack b. Reggie Ragland c. Jaylon Smith - bring in one of the top 3 ILBs Rd2 target: a. Darron Lee b. Su'a Cravens - double up at ILB. These two will add a tad more speed if the get Ragland/Smith Rd3 target: a. Miles Killebrew SS b. Jayron Kearse SS c. Jeremy Cash SS - 3 safeties that play a hybrid LB/S role. Rd4 target: a. Bronson Kaufusi DE b. Chris Jones DE c. Shaun Oakman DE - these 3 have great qualities to mold. Rd5 target: a. Eric Murray CB b. Cyrus Jones CB c. Breane Brody- Calhoun CB find another Amos type The bad part about drafting like this is they all become FA's the same time if they all pan out.

Going off that and if a miracle happens with players dropping to our slots, we can add 3 players that have similiar characteristics that will add speed and pop to the middle : RD1-Myles Jack ILB 6-2 230 4.55 speed RD2-Darron Lee ILB/Su'a Cravens ILB 6-2 235 4.60 speed RD3-Miles Killebrew SS 6-3 235 4.50 speed RD4-Shaun Oakman DT 6-7 275

Forte is a smart man and he knows what the going value for RBs at his age is. He trains with Frank Gore every offseason and I think that contract is in his ballpark. With two young guns on rookie deals, the Bears can spare the change on a 2-3 year deal. I also think Langford/Carey respect Forte highly and they can continue learning from him. Forte knows how to prepare and take care of himself and that has kept him healthy and extended his career. Either way the Bears go, they will most likely look for a veteran to be in the mix. Why not show the young players that doing everything right can pay if the price is in range.

If they can get Osemele before the draft and Ronnie Stanley drops, do you take him as BPA? That is figuring Tunsil, Bosa, Ramsey, Buckner, and Jack are off the board. Stanley LT - Slausen LG -Grasu C - Osemele RG - Long RT would be solid.

I don't know about all that, I have stayed at the holiday inn before. I think some of these draft scenarios Jason put together came out great.

Even though I don't think you can let a talent like Stanley go, I agree Leno should get the opportunity to start LT. I would start the season with Leno LT-Slausen LG- Grasu C-Long RG-Stanley RT. With that said, CB can be bumped up to RD5 if a talent fits and take a shot at LT Johnstone RD6-7 if he lasts.. Johnstone may last since he has two bad knee injuries already on him. Let him build strength and knowledge for at least a year.

I would not be opposed to a SS that can make a Troy Polomolu difference. I am not saying Cash or Killebrew are on that level, but if Donatell/Fox sees that type of player, take him whatever round. Early on, I wanted Cash RD2 myself. I watched one game, which he was suspended the first half and wasn't too impressed. Could have been bc he sat the first half?

I think you are doing this fine. We do not have variables other than our 9 picks. Taking a K is foreshadowing Gould's release though, so I can see were a TE may be a thought.
