  1. I will give Emery a break on the last draft. He came in late and didn't have his scouting in place. He evaluated the line and said tackle was a top need but didnt see one in fa or the draft besides Scott that were an improvement. After this season, im sure he has a different thought. I have a feeling we will see an improvement on the line, finally.
  2. Agree, he was rattling off stats from stats inc on how the oline performed and why we did or didn't make moves. I think we can expect this team to be similiar but with a higher energy guy that is more upbeat and has the offensive mind to build plays with the players we have. Ex more pass plays to Forte. He also stated how all of are assistant coaches are still under contract. So the new coach can retain them if wanted. He said that was important because its hard in the nfl to get assistant coaches in the nfl unless they are promoted and not moved laterally.
  3. http://my.chicagotribune.com/#story/chi-em...-move-20130101/ Thought he was clear and has a vision on the type of upbeat coach he is looking for. Forget the 3-4, he would have to be convinced this current roster can be converted for that. He wants a coach that can be creative and make plays that fit the talent we have.
  4. I still think he'll be good. He lost a lot of weight with the knee injury. He has the mentality to improve and will be able to work on weight training this offseason. Last off season was rehabbing the knee. I will eat crow if carimi doesn't rebound next season.
  5. I watched, that was the theme out of Brian's mouth. When asked what he thought about Finleys comment, it was the same. "I could care less what he says". When asked about the crowd, his response was a little lighter and kinda in a joking manner.
  6. Did anyone actually watch this interview? I didn't think it was all that bad. He was asked a question about the critics and his answer was "all I care about is my teammates. I really don't care what the media and fans think". To me, that is not worth saying you're done with him. The guy is defending his leader and took offense to the question, lots of frustration right now and you're not going to get sugar coated responses. Just my $.02
  7. Did anyone else notice that on the two interceptions, the team was slow or reluctant to chase down the ball carrier? I think they were scared to take a hit like Louis recieved. The oline was mainly who I noticed. Wonder what they were told or coached, because they seemed to not want to make a tackle.
  8. Glad he did that, he is calling out his fellow team mates to get fired up. Brandon just punched them in there mouth and on Sunday they are coming to fight. His teammates can either show up or hide. Who care's if its bulletin board material, this is entertainment! WWF at its finest and just part of the NFL storyline at being the most watched sport.
  9. Okoye was brought back today. Good signing since he knows the D and Melton is banged up.
  10. Ogletree is one of my guys I would like to see also. Your draft is good, but I would say RB is the only position we have good depth at. Bush makes a good back up/goal line. He's been hurt the last couple of weeks, so I'm giving him the benefit so far. Best to use the slot for DT/DE rotation
  11. That is true, my main thought is we need oline. If we cannot get a Long (haha), Clady, or Albert in FA then we need to draft one. Fisher has the tools and should be in reach. Guard is another huge hole as we need two and with only E Williams set to return. Louis likely will resign but may not be ready at the start of the season with his knee. LB and TE are just as big, but I think Urlacher can limp one more season. Since we are drafting short handed, it will be hard to fill all the needs.
  12. It was meant to say DT, so I edited. Those contract do expire, so we may decide to draft replacements. I would like to keep a few of those players like Urlacher, Melton, Louis this year. Next year, Wright, E Williams, Tillman, and Jennings would be nice. But I'm drafting to prepare for those days too.
  13. It is early, but tonight I was looking through mocks. Today the Bears currently sit with the 24 pick, here is a route I can see them take. This of course is if they can keep Lovie on his remaining contract and resign Urlacher for 1 or 2 years. I'd also like to see them sign TE Jared Cook to replace Davis. Round 1 - Eric Fisher OLT Central Michigan Webb will be a free agent after 2013, it's time to end the experiment and draft a solid 1st round OLT talent. Carimi is the only OT with a contract beyond 2013. Round 2 - Larry Warford OG Kentucky 6-3 340 powerful athletic guard, that could start day 1. With Louis/Spencer contracts expiring and Edwin Williams/Garza entering there final season the Bears need address guard soon. Round 4 - Kwame Geathers DT 6-6 350 Melton may sign elsewhere, Collins had a one year contract, and Toeania is up next year. The Bears have a big need at DT Round 5 - Sanders Commings CB Georgia 6-2 216 4.49 speed. Tillman and Jennings are signed through 2013 and Hayden/Moore expire after this season. Commings and Hardin might be the Bears version of Browner/Sherman in the future. Round 6 - Ray Ray Armstrong SS/LB Faulkner University 6-4 220 4.59 speed. High ceiling and bad attitude. Left Miami due to off field issues. Bears take a shot at developing him into a LB or depth behind Major Wright who's contract is up after 2013.
  14. I would think they would give Knox that opportunity. It was said he was close before the PUP was up. I think they put him on the ir to make sure he was 100%
  15. I'd like to give props to Webb also. Cutler was only sacked when Garza stepped on his foot and he fell. Great game by the line.
  16. I don't miss Olsen, he turned into us getting Marshall. I'd take that any day.
  17. Too bad we don't have a 3rd Round pick haha! But I have Barrett Jones or Dallas Thomas as my round 1 selection.
  18. I don't see the Bears using a draft pick as a #2 back up for Jay Cutler. With his injury history, they will definately want a serviceable vet IMO.
  19. Its not that it should be every pick, but at least one every year in rounds one through 3. Not every pick makes it, but you have to keep plugging. A great offensive line will make an above average rb a hof'er. As we watch tonight's disaster, I'd like to hear what the Cutler critics have to say.
  20. Hester package hmmm, I think a Bush package would be more interesting. Seeing him run the wildcat with Forte and Hester in the backfield or split out wide.
  21. You are right, Carimi came into camp 10 pounds lighter, and added muscle to his leaner frame. He should be quicker and stronger... Couple things with Carimi is, he is going into his 9th NFL game and his knee is still probably not 100%. I think it is still too early to claim him as a bust. Sometimes it takes a year or two for these players to get there body/mind up to nfl caliber.
  22. I agree, said this the past 4 years. Hoping Emery believes in this route also. There are a nice group of potential OLTs in this class and I would suspect the Bears seen this before we did and passed on reaching on a tackle like Rieff.
  23. According to 670 the score, Bears negotiating with Lovie Smith on a two year extension.
