  1. Fields did better and the Bears were in position to possibly tie. The ex viking WR handed the ball to his old team for the W when he should have got out of bounds. He decision to go for extra yards was bad.
  2. Round 1 WRs have made a case for themselves over the last few years but I believe Round 2 still has the edge for top producers. Since the Bears Defense is the worst at stopping the run that helps make a case to go DT early. If the Bears are in a position to trade down to gain a future 1st, that would be the jackpot while still taking the best DT/WR. The WR market is dried up this year and even next in FA. The Bears cannot afford to trade their 1st for someone like Metcalf, who the Seahawks are now looking decent without Wilson and may prefer keeping him. The Bucs may try trading Evans in the offseason before he hits FA after 2023 season. Maybe the Bears should just sign Beckham and try making him servicable? I do think they will be throwing many darts again next year at the position and with a little luck we can find a gem.
  3. They must have planned on taking these bumps because you would think having Reiff and Schofield on the field would give the line at least an edge in experience and that could help Fields now. If Fields can keep taking baby steps and not lose ot completely, maybe the line and him will finally gel and perform well.
  4. I am not giving up on Fields yet, but if Poles, Flus, and Getsy don't want him, I have no control over that. If we have a top pick then QB will be considered. You draft best player and it may be qb. If Fields show some hope, then we may trade down or take a stud DT or WR.
  5. I wish we were 0 and 4 to be honest. Those worthless wins only hurt what this team needs and that is talent. We need to figure if Fields is our guy and if not, then having the highest pick gives us a fighting chance
  6. Byron Pringle heads to the Injured Reserve. Hoping Velus Jones can play and contribute in returns.
  7. Sexy Rexy and Kyle Ortman with 3 wins a piece against the arch enemy. We gave been going backwards with drafting/developing QBs since we had them.
  8. You wouldn't think the Bears were a first place team, but that is what the standings say. Sitting on top with GB and Minn. Gives the team a reason to cobtinue to show up.
  9. It is disappointing to watch because it is groundhog day over and over again. I hope he can break that cycle. If he doesn't, winning today hurts because we need the highest pick to get someone who can be our franchise.
  10. I think we can now see what the NFL experts were saying about the Bears before the season started. They just do not have talent and they will finish towards the bottom. I hope these first few games are just the new regime getting the gel to stick but it isn't looking good. Fields needs to get some confidence, like this connection just now to Kmet to get himself on track.
  11. Jenkins was out and Patrick in on the Fields goal line play. GB had 4 down linemen and 2 OLB, making it a 6 man front, 3 DBs lined up man against our WR/TE, 1 ILB and a S, covering Fields and Monty. We tried blocking their 6 with 5. Patrick pulled, leaving Mustipher and Borum taking on 3 linemen. Jones got pushed back 2 yards and Fields and Patrick hit the hole about the same time. I think if they had Jenkins in and ran behind him and pulled Whitehair, it may have worked. Green Bay did blow it up, they were in the back field from the snap.
  12. He is very smart, if I recall, one of the highest to score on the wonderlic. I don't know if he will learn how to see the field faster while in the pocket but if he does, then the sky is the limit. I watched the last two games live and it seems like he locks onto his first read. The line seems to give him time for the most part. Getsy needs to get the run game going, stretch the field early with a deep shot, and then have Fields run play action with quicker developing routes. That can get their young QB to gain confidence.
  13. I say give it one more game that we should do better with. But you are right that Mooney and Kmet both look terrible for whatever reason. The SF barely counts because a) the monsoon and b) terrible field position. GB controlled the clock and kept Fields contained so he couldnt get a rhythm going. Getsy should have kept running early then went to play action. They may have balanced the Time of Possession a little better.
  14. Leatherwood supposedly has mono and will be out for a while. I am curious what the offense would look like with Patrick at C, Jenkins at RG, Whitehair LG, Jones LT, and Borum RT.
  15. I am so optimistic, like every year, that I wanted to be there in person to see the debut. I also wanted to cross a trip to Lambeau off my bucket list and support the Bears there too so I did that too. Get my Bears fix in early this year why the weather should be decent.
  16. It was such a strange deal. Hope he becomes a probowl level player for us.
  17. I brought it up because Khan is University of Illinois Alumni and Lightfoot said if the Bears leave they will attract another team to take their place. The rumor mill instantly connected the dots that Chicago could pull the Jaquars in.
  18. The Chicago Jaguars, coming in 2025
  19. My understanding is his small sample size playing last year showed he struggled at OT and Poles and Flus were not sure were he would play so they were shopping him. I figured Jenkins would struggle because he had no training camp, little strength training since it was his back and when he was able to practice it was do or die because the Bears were not slowing down for him to get up to speed. If Jenkins was disgruntled, it was probably because he was told he will be sitting out as they shop him so he didn't get injured. No one offered the Bears enough value, so they moved to plan b. I assume they were shooting for a 1st or 2nd round pick.

Does anyone else feel the media is pressuring the Bears to trade Tevin Jenkins? Something happened and they do not like him being first string RG. I've seen them say they are parading him for a trade. Why not embrace him. He was a highly ranked college draftee. The media has power to sway opinion and I hate seeing that.
  21. The draft was a little deeper this year also since many players opted out for covid the year before. I am glad Poles understood this and took as many late picks as he could get. Some of this guys may be slotted a round or two better in a weaker draft.

I only hope we can keep Getsy around for more than a year or two. I'm afraid once Fields blossoms, he will be a hot HC candidate.

Jaquan Brisker has surgery on injured hand. He is hopeful to be available for week 1.
  24. I agree. Unless it comes from Jay Cutler?
