Wow, Lovie is not calling the shots in TB. Two offensive players in rounds 1 & 2 thus far.

Just realized that fanspeak has updated their big board after round 1: Here is my first mock with out any trades: http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/sharedraft.php?d=xhtevf The link will show all the simulated picks for each team so you can see who was picked before / after Bears selection in each round. R1 DB KYLE FULLER VA R2 DE STEPHON TUITT NOTRE DAME R3 CB KEITH MCGILL R4 DE KAREEM MARTIN NORTH CAROLINA R5 DT KELCY QUARLES SOUTH CAROLINA R6 RB TYLER GAFFNEY STANFORD R6 S JONATHAN DOWLING WESTERN KENTUCKY

I'm okay if Emry and company are strongly certain that Fuller with better project as a pro bowl caliber FS. Hopefully they are right and Fuller is a steal at 14. I watched youtube highlights on TUIT and as someone that does not watch much College Football he seemed to be a dominating pash rush force. Does TUIT project as a DT or as a DE as I have seen him listed at both positions on various sites? For what its worth Warren Sapp really like Timmy Jernigan.

Now that I have settled down a little perhaps Phil does envision Fuller as the FS he covets and will draft another CB like Desir in round 3. I just discovered that Kyles older brothers, Vincent was a S for the Titans and Coery Fuller (WR) was drafted in the 6th round by the Lions last year. Perhaps Phill felt he was taking the highest rated CB on his board whith his floor being a legit cover NFL cover corner and his ceiling being a better FS than either either Pryor or Ha HA. This is a very solid and unexciting pick but only becasue most of us viewed Free Saftey and DT as the biggest need. Compared to the last two years this was a much more conservative pick for Phil and the drafting of a CB in round probably has cought most of us guard as we anticipated DT or FS. Here to hoping we can get some more defensive play makers on day 2! I want a FS/DT/CB
-
The one thing I learned from the mock drafts I did was that if the Bears chose a CB in round 1 it would be very hard to get a starting caliber FS in Round two. Should the Bears now trade up for Brooks in Round 2 or hang tight and look for either Dixon, Reynolds in later rounds or will Phil gamble on JSB or McGill, bigger corners that could transition to safety?
-
Bucannon is off the board now. GRRRRR! We now need to focus on getting someone like TUIT in round two and hopefull a saftey like BROOKS in Round 3.

In addition to the NFL's Hard knocks show it would be really cool if a few years after each NFL Draft the NFL would release "WAR ROOM" so that fans could have an in depth and transparent view of the reality of draft day. I want to hear the alleged phone calls to other GMs with trade opportunites as well as who made the final descision to draft player "X". Just think how great this would be to dissect during the slow part of the offseason leading upto the draft!
-
I would be concerned about his ability to stay healthy in the NFL and agree that S and DL would be my first two priorities.
-
I think Donald is a stud and would be happy if he is picked at 14 but I can't help hoping the Bears are able to trade back between 14-22 in the first round and pick up an extra 2nd and 3rd rounders which could allow them infuse some more youth to this team! We need to definitely secure a starting FS and rotation DT and CB. With the research that has been reported surrounding successful teams trade back and get more picks which gives team a greater opportunity to get solid players at good value. This mock, I traded back a few times to stockpile picks but making sure I secured the number one need: I high round free safety prospect and then later added depth with quality players. This meant adding extra CB's & TE's based on value could not pass up. http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/sharedraft.php?d=qdewft 22 S CALVIN PRYOR LOUISVILLE 54 DE STEPHON TUITT NOTRE DAME 56 S DEONE BUCANNON WASHINGTON STATE (could have taken Terrence Brooks) 82 CB STANLEY JEAN- BAPTISTE NEBRASKA 86 CB PIERRE DESIR LINDENWOOD 117 DT CARAUN REID PRINCETON 129 DT KELCY QUARLES SOUTH CAROLINA 156 CB WALT AIKENS LIBERTY 183 WR T.J. you have to pay $5 for the premium subscription. I thought it was worth it!

yeah, I accepted a trade back with MIA and Donald Dropped to my pick which was hard cause Pryor and Buccanon were both available but I could not pass on the best DT knowing I had several chance with the extra 3, 4 and 5th round picks to address the secondary was basically going BPA addressing the most glaring needs as a priority.

Like this Mock? I would add S DEONE BUCANNON to the first round possibilities, he looks like a beast!

I'm no expect but here are my comments: Borland #44 wears the same number as Urlacher wore at New Mexico (other than instincts probably the only similarity). Personally he is undersized and NOT the MLB prospect I would draft.
-
Not sure Baltimore would trade with the Bears again as fallout from JA bungled trade attempt, which he selected RT Gabe Carimi. Too Bad JA did not get CB Jimmy Smith, CU whom Baltimore selected instead of the trade.
-
If the BEARS indeed are chosen for Hard Knocks, HBO would have a new record for the most pirated show as the Monsters of the Midway will overthrow the Game of Thrones!

The bar graph in the article says it all! I feel Emery and Trestman are a good fit. This front office seems to be re-building a very solid team while employing creative ways to add veterans without tying up the salary cap. The past two years has been interesting and the changes have been refreshing.
