  1. I traded out of the first round and used the first of my 3 second round picks and took the top remaining TE.
  2. Here is my trade back twice and out of the first round scenario: With top FS and CB off the board I elected to trade back and passes on DT Donald to aquire more 2nd and 3rd round picks. http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/premium/draft.php?d=otqeyc 39 TE NIKLAS, TROY NOTRE DAME 51 DT HAGEMAN, RA'SHEDE MINNESOTA 54 S WARD, JIMMIE NORTHERN ILLINOIS 70 S REYNOLDS, ED STANFORD 82 CB DESIR, PIERRE LINDENWOOD 86 ILB JONES, CHRISTIAN FLORIDA STATE 117 DT EASLEY, DOMINIQUE FLORIDA 144 WR LATIMER, CODY INDIANA 156 RB THOMAS, DE'ANTHONY OREGON 180 TE LYERLA, COLT OREGON 183 CB PURIFOY, LOUCHEIZ FLORIDA
  3. Wesson, thanks for sharing the YouTube highlight reel of Chris Williams! Though Williams played in the CFL, I really like what I see on film and though he is a bit undersized his skill set should translate well to the NFL. Some of the things that jumped off the film is: speed, agility, vision and quick decisions, body control, nice routes, looks like a natural pass catcher and uses his hands well. If Chris weighed a little more and had more hops, I'd say he looks a lot like former Carolina Panthers Steve Smith. Hester may go down as the best returner of all-time but I think this kids has some abilities Hester never had like better hands, body control & hand eye coordination and route running and awareness in space. Here to hoping the Bears have found a new weapon and someone who can competently fill Hester's shoes in the return game and add some bonus play to the offense!

Wow, I just paid the $5 subscription for the fanspeak premium "on the clock mock draft simulator" and it is cool to accept trades and a challege trying to get your targeted players.
  7. I think we are mostly done in FA and at some point we really need to have success in drafting players and developing them so that they have an impact on the roster. For the past several years the Bears have had to use FA to bail themselves out. They need to stop relying so much on FA to compensate for poor drafting / player development. The good part of FA is that you usually know what you are getting and the bad is that you usually will need to overpay for getting a known commodity. With that said I liked what Britton did as a backup last year. The rest of the positions I would rather the Bears fill the needs through the Draft and un-drafted rookie free agents.

Too me if the BEars go DT in the 1st than they should wait a few rounds to get secondary help as these positions are not so deep to expect these players to be contributors day one which is why I took the players in the order that I did. If the Bears get Donald than the DL rotation will be very strong and make the secondary much better just by the improved run and pass rush that should be generated from this new group. I was looking at the top 4 rounds of the draft for possible rookie starters / impact players at positions of needs and took the BPA approach. I did considered Baily but there is concern that he may project to a SS in the NFL and ultimately could not take him over Swanson whom I think was the best choice and highest rated player at a position of need. Additionally, I was confident that I could get Dowling, who has a 3rd round grade on some websites, is a true FS prospect that was a redshirt JR and transferred from Florida to W. Kentucky, who also has more size 6'3 and speed than Bailey later in the draft. Now I 'm no expert but I really like Dowling's Bio and if it is accurate and translate to the pro game he could be a nice addition for the Bears.

  10. I also agree that while Conte had an overall bad season I believe it's too early to give up on him. He needs to workout with bmarsh and company and get tougher mentally as he seemed too be around the ball but was constantly making mental mistakes. You could see mid season that his confidence was down and he was thinking not reacting instinctively. With that said I want the top rated defensive player that projects as a day one starter. We can not afford to draft on potential high ceiling guys that don't have a sure position with experience and success at the college level.

    middle backer

Bostic will be a very good pro. He has good athleticism, is physical and his father played in the nfl so he has some bloodlines as well. Jon showed flashes in the preseason and also got a cool nickname "boom Bostic" from the vets. Maybe he will end up on the outside ultimately and I'm okay with that as long as he can step up this year and start being solid contributor.
  12. Great point, I was thinking the same thing that Jared will have more a of a leadership presence than Peppers.
  13. Jared put up solid numbers and effort for far too long to be labeled as just a "try hard guy". He has been very productive and consisitent over the years while staying healthy as well. He easily could have let up like "All Day" and take some games off since the vikings suck so much. In fact, Allen has not had much to play for since Favre retired. I think he is quick off the snap and knows how to create pressure and that will be a welcome addition to this team. The fact that he is a high effort should not be viewed as a negative but perhaps that was what has been lacking since Urlacher retired. Mike Brown is another good example of a high effort and smart football player who got the most out of his abilities while healthy. I know this is not a long term solution but this team has a very small window to try and win a Superbowl. These recent signings also raise the stakes for having a successful draft this year, and the team needs to take players with the highest floor who can contribute right away otherwise the Bears probably not have a chance to achieve the ultimate within the next 3 years.
  14. Outstanding Addition!!!!!! I have long wanted Jared Allen since his Kansas City days and was upset that Minnesota was able to trade for him and not the Bears. Allen has always been one of the most relentless, high motor and among the most productive DE's in the league over his tenure. Also on a side note, I believe now that Melton is gone, number 69 is available for Jared! Great offseason thus far by Phil Emery! Bear Down!
  15. Now that the Niners have 6 of the top 100, I suspect they will be open to wheeling and dealing in this years draft. Will definitely be interesting to see if the Bears will be involved. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown...ml?soc_src=copy

  18. In the mock drafted I did none of these other safeties were around in the 2-3 rd. So we may have to take the best FS than grab the best available DT in the Second round.
  19. I agree that this draft while it would be very good under different circumstances it would really set the team back defensively thus making the window for a possible run for a title even smaller with the core championship caliber offense players here. The top FS was gone at 14 and so I went BPA. While taking Matthews helped the OL it cause me to miss out on the top tier DT thus I chose to double down again and take the highest rated player and drafted a starting center in the 3rd. Too bad the former regime struggled drafting quality players of their tenure. This exercise demonstrates the reality that the Bears do not have the luxury to go BPA. Rather, they have to go BDPA because they are so desperate for upgrading the defense.
  20. 2nd draft attempt with BPA: I know someone else posted what do the Bears do if a top LT falls to them in the daft? This happened for this mock and I took Matthews and it changed everything. http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/draft.php?d=dnxfvz 14 OT JAKE MATTHEWS TEXAS A&M 51 CB KYLE FULLER VIRGINIA TECH 82 C TRAVIS SWANSON ARKANSAS 113 DE KAREEM MARTIN NORTH CAROLINA 144 TE C.J. Point being I think if the Bears want a starting FS they will need to take one in the first round. Very interesting mock draft sight thanks for sharing!
  22. I agree a true FS is probably more of a need than taking a DT in Round 1. Ha Ha is supposed to be the best free saftey in his years draft and the Bears can not afford to whiff in the first round this year. I like the sound of Donald but may be too risky for the Bears as they need a day 1 impact rookie starters from this years draft.
  23. I wanted Melton back but feel he has been very inconsistent over his career thus far. Remember, Melton was another draft pick who came to the pros to play a position he did not play in college. So, I agree with the premise that it is probably best that the Bears will need to move on from Henry. We need to reload the Defense in the first 4 rounds and draft best player available S, CB, DT, DE. If trading back happens it would be great to add two S, two CB and a DT, DE and MLB then draft TE / RB / QB in later rounds.
  24. SC... I could not believe that I was able to post breaking Bears news before you! I actually had to double check to make sure the Tillman signing was legit.
