You might be waiting a while.....last I checked we don't draft till next year!
-
good one! My only question is when are you going to update your profile pic of Benson. Kinda of tired of seeing his mug!
-
I loved Ditkas passion for playing the game the right way and for telling us what he really thinks; very similar Ozzie Guillen!
-
Mongo; to further your point I believe HOF Rod Woodson began his career as a CB and then moved to S to further his career! I think Tillman is good enough pro to make a seemless transition and would probably get at least 6 int and cause some more fumbles! Peppers and Robinson would get this D back to being the Monsters of old!
-
If he is cut, I could see TJ considering DENVER, SD, or even possibly WASH.
-
Well said and I strongly agree!

You have got to be kiddin with the wade comparison? When did Bennet fumble 3 punt / kick returns attempts in a game....waite he didn't that would have been one of wade's last games as a bear? Bennet has shown the ability to get open, excellent concetration, strong hands to make tough catches in traffic. As far as Knox had a great rookie season and happens to have similar qualities and build as DeSean Jackson who also by the way in case you have not noticed was Johnny's pro bowl teammate this year.

We already went down this path when the Bears signed "Moose" who was still a very good blocking WR and had obviously lost a step when he played here. I would rather see Martz line up Olson at WR and H-back more frequently than to spend our highest draft pick for some very used and expensive tires. I agree with NFO that WR is not as big of a need because of the Cutler factor. If you don't believe this look at how Eddie Royal's numbers went down without Jay. Or when was the last time the bears had a rookie WR like knox? Maybe Iglesias can be the more physical WR the team needs. This is arguably the most talent the Bears probably have ever had at the receiver position at one time and tend to agree with why Martz is excited with this group.

So what are you exactly saying? Would you rather have kyle or jay? whom do you think has the best potential to lead an NFL team to a championship......I don't put to much stock in what players do in HS or College because there are many variables out of the players control. I am more interested what they actually do in the NFL? I like Kyle; as my backup. We know that winning at the college or hs level does not directly correlate to success in the NFL; if that was the case Rex would still be a Bear or the Cardinals would never of had to bring in Warner when they already drafted Leinart or that the Patriots should have never drafted Brady since he did not have much success backing up Greise at Michigan.

Not too jump into the middle here but thought I would add the following in NFO's defense. First, I would like to point out that Denver is so thrilled with Orton thus far that they have yet to sign him to an extension and have gone as far as contacting Philly about the availability of McNabb. Orton whom I have nothing against is a nice servicable veteran QB better suited as a backup and make no mistake about it that Kyle is not taking any team to the promised land. While the likes of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning and Drew Brees are playing; the days of a Trent Dilfer like QB leading a team to the SB have no chance in the QB driven league the NFL is today. There is no realistic chance or hope to go anywhere without a potential franchise QB and that is why I absolutely agree with NFO on this one. I am not interested in Boldin as he has been injured plenty over the last 2 seasons and I feel he is too risky to trade for and to be honest here I think he is closer to being Edgerin James (washed up) than Brandon Marshall (nearing his prime). Each pick this year is really precious and if I were JA I would take the best player available who can make an immediate impact at these positions of need: OL, FS, CB, DE as there is no margin of error to reach on players this year. We need healthy players with a high floor over having a high ceiling. In other words draft more like Baltimore and bring in good football players not athletic freaks whom may be molded into a football player someday. I suppose anything can happen as the Bears management is in a real desperate position as they must win (playoffs) or else; at least that is what we are hoping for!
-
I could not agree more. If Hester put of those numbers I think that would have been close to what Conway or Graham put up in Kramers's best year and I would take that from any of our WRs. Hester is a playmaker, maybe not a true number 1 but certainly he is a weapon that I think Martz will find a good role for him. I hope Martz offense will resemble the style of O the Saints run from the multiple WR formation, screens etc.

Way to go BEARSOX and thanks for sharing this great news! Good luck and huskies!
-
I do not see how with Orton, minus Nolan and probably Marshall will be gone soon that Denver is a better team to root for over the Bears? We might not like every move the Bears make but JA did bring in a real QB. I will not betray the beloved and will root for the team that aquired Cutler not get rid of him and a future hall of fame head coach! The Broncos are closer to the being the Cheifs than the Charges so have fun rooting for the donkeys next year!

NFO, I do not disagree with your logic and I would even add that the Bears might as well kept Turner for Cutler's sake since LOVIE et ol was retianing thier jobs. Then the could have no regret cleaning house for 2011 should they fail to meet expectations. Turner has been a huge upgrade ove his previous 2 predecessors so my opinion on him is not all bad but we probably have seen the best of what he has to offer by now. My biggest problem with Turner was his lack of creativity to create mismatch nor getting his playmakers in position to be succesful. The players on this team are professionals and think they will adapt to the new coaches / schemes and probably welcome the change.

We have been hearing all the media coverage this week about whether or not Freeney will be playing in the SB..Why? In a QB driven league you have to sack and pressure the QB or your D will not be good enough to go anywhere! I do not care about just getting to the playoffs, I think this team's core is good enough top get back to the SB which should be the goal every year. It is no secret that the Bears biggest need along with fixing the OL is getting a pass rush which would do wonders for the secondary! Go after both Kampman and Peppers with a fullcourt press and hope that you can sign one of them. Since we pretty much know the Smith 2 scheme will stay than it is a no brainer for a head coach and GM who have 1 year to save their jobs to over pursue what we all know can fix what ails our D mostly. I think we already saw the sence of urgency and desperation when AJ gave up a 2nd rounder for G. Adams a much cheaper alternative to going after the likes of Peppers / Kampman. Unfortunatley with the passing of GA; AJ will need to be more agressive in FA if he and Smith are going to be around in 2011. We did not think JA was seriously going to go after Cutler last year so I certainly would not discount that JA will not atleast provide his due dilligence and contact their agents. The Bears Brass are desperate and that may turn out to be a damn good thing for the fans. It appears that AJ / Lovie are willing to put it all on the line with the recent experienced coaching hires and I expect this to carry into FA. If it does not work and Lovie and JA are out at the end of this next season than I wonder if Ozzie Guillen & Kenny Williams are available in the offseason to manage the Bears! With Ozzie, there would never be a dull moment on the sideline or boring presss conference! I think his rants could rank up there with the Ditkas, Denny Greens and Jim Moras! And you know Williams would not be afraid to trade or cut anyone and would pursue top FA. I could not resist the what if scenario started in another post.

Even more halarious are the poser Bronco fans who adored Jay until the pre trade fiasco which then he some how was a baby! Living in Denver there are many who are just besides themselve on what the Heck happened to their darling franchise. Erv Brown and Joe Williams have a local sports talk radio show on espn here and they both think the trade was one of the biggest mistake the Broncos have made and don't get them started with what transpired with the Nolan / McDaniels issue. Meanwhile I am still in disbelief that the Bears pulled of this trade. Cutler is the real deal and played much better down the stretch and gives me much optimsim. There is no doubt that this guy is tough mentally. Yes he had a very bad 1st season with the Bears in terms of turnovers but how many times did he walk off the field after a pick discussing what happened with one of his young inexperienced recievers (many times!). I believe the Bears can turn this around sooner than many think!
-
I may be wrong but right now I am actually relieved by the hiring of Martz and Tice which the experience of these two men alone should definately provide an immense uprgrade over Turner / Hamilton et ol. Martz may not be high on anyone list here but who else was going to come in on what is an essential one year deal? I think the key to this working out is that Tice will help provide balance. Too bad Nolan went to Miami cause that would have been a great addition as well. I look forward to seeing who is brought in to run the "D"!

Interesting interview with Michael Lombardi a big supporter of Jeremy Bates for OC of Bears. Mully and Hanley - General Interviews Michael Lombardi 1/6/2010 Mully and Hanley welcome Michael Lombardi of Inside the NFL to the show to talk about the Bears and the future of Jay Cutler! http://www.670thescore.com/topic/play_wind...audioId=4296027

Yes, I recall that now. The frustrating thing is that this team has had many opportunites to win games this season despite all the mistakes. I feel that a new coaching staff is needed to right the ship especially with the number of experieced coaches out there. The Bears in my opinion are not that far away from being a really good team but it is hard to look past the sloppy and undisciplined play this season. Time to let the kids play so that they will be ready to contribute next season. Glad to see DA and know out there making plays. All I want for Christmas is HC, OC, DC, OL, & WR#1 ..............
-
I agree with this, the O-line is a joke and I have been satisfied with the play of our young WRs. Although the growing pains have been difficult at time refering to the kids running the wrong route etc.
-
The real sign of desperation this was and a very costly gamble. This has been a common occurence this year.

QB Jay Cutler $11.53 million LB Brian Urlacher $9.68 million DT Tommie Harris $9.09 million I would cut and spend this $ to fix OL and WR. WR Devin Hester $6.89 million I like Devin very much but not at the price nor as our number 1 (restructure deal or trade) LB Lance Briggs $6.77 million DE Adewale Ogunleye $6.46 million Keep at the right price LT Orlando Pace $5.33 million ba-bye! LG Frank Omiyale $4.95 million has played out of position with Bears and would at least like to see if he can play RT ? CB Nathan Vasher $4.87 million see yah! C Olin Kreutz $4.13 million getting up there in age and does not control the los like years past; restructure or cut and start Beekman at C

By Brad Biggs http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/...-cap-bears.html It is detailed in Sunday's Tribune how the Bears have $4.63 million remaining in available salary-cap room for the final month of the season, space that general manager Jerry Angelo could put to use for next year, in the event the NFL proceeds with a capped system. Salary-cap numbers for individual players do not represent how much money they are earning each year. Rather, they are a reflection of how much room the player takes up under the cap. Think of it as one big pie, the whole of which is $135.9 million for the Bears. Quarterback Jay Curter is the biggest piece in the pie with a cap figure of $11.53 million, a result of his $30 million, two-year contract extension in October. Let's examine the top 10 cap numbers on the roster currently, according to the most recent available information: QB Jay Cutler $11.53 million LB Brian Urlacher $9.68 million DT Tommie Harris $9.09 million WR Devin Hester $6.89 million LB Lance Briggs $6.77 million DE Adewale Ogunleye $6.46 million LT Orlando Pace $5.33 million LG Frank Omiyale $4.95 million CB Nathan Vasher $4.87 million C Olin Kreutz $4.13 million None of the players in that group are having their best seasons. Cutler has already established a career-high for interceptions. Urlacher will miss the final 15 ½ games. Harris' career remains on roller coaster tracks. Hester isn't a No. 1 wide receiver. Briggs could wind up being voted to his fifth straight Pro Bowl, and Ogunleye leads the team with six sacks, but Pace and Omiyale are the left side of a line that hasn't come together. Vasher's Bears' career will likely be capped after four more games. Kreutz is an easy target for the wobbly line because he's a front and center before the media.
