Some reports have Williams meeting with the Bears here after the March 20th Pro Day at USC. That is when he will be expected to submit medicals. Supposedly his camp thinks it makes no sense to share medical info with teams that won't have a chance to draft him. Its unprecedented but, I understand the thinking.

I'm pretending I'm Ryan Poles and I fleeced a team last draft for a star player and draft capital. If I trade again, I make history and if I get an even bigger haul, I enter Jimmy Johnson territory. I trade the pick to some team in the top 3 Wsh or NE for a swap plus 2024 2nd and 2025 1st and a 2026 2nd. I would also try and get a young player under contract who fits the scheme on defense and financially (Payne or Allen) are my thoughts. This is with the idea of doing what NYG did with Danial Jones, making him ball out but, i would like the Bears to draft Jordon Travis as an insurance policy, similar to what Detroit has done with Hendon Hooker who may be prime to take over for Goff next season. Keeping Fields in a prove it scenario is similar to what was done with Trubisky, Roquan, Mooney and Johnson. With only 6 picks in this draft and still some roster building to be done, acquiring draft capital needs to be prioritized.

Back when the trade deadline was approaching a lot of Bears fans were calling for Poles to trade for Chase Young. Since we have seen a good body of his work since he was traded to the 49ers, it looks like he is just fully recovered from his ACL tear and might be someone who could be a viable option to pair with his former teammate Montez Sweat.

Which Rookie QB should we draft to replace Fields?

I didn't bother trying to read every comment so please forgive me but, my choice is to trade the first pick and get extra picks decline Fields 5th year option and draft Jordon Travis who may have to sit most of or all of his first year. A mid round pick may do it, like what Detroit did with Hendon Hooker. -
I am totally disgusted with the HOF voting process because what did Mc Michael and Hester do in one year to convince voters that they are deserving of the honor?

Les Frazier is my DC of choice also knowing that he knows this defense having deployed it in Minnesota as their HC. As for OC it has to be someone who is not afraid to come in with a coach who may be on the hot seat next season. I could see both Reich and Bienemy not being afraid to come in here under those circumstances with both being owed money from their former teams.

I'm wondering what was actually said to Eberflus about him coming back. I'm convinced he was told that Getsy had to go. This would mean that maybe Poles and Warren may have a say in who the OC maybe. I could see Bienemy being a candidate also. Both he and Reich wouldn't be afraid to come in in this situation.

The last time the Bears had 2 top 10 picks was 79 Dan Hampton and Al Harris. If they keep the picks, I'm hoping for similar results.

I can't say I haven't seen a rebuild before since I witnessed when team president Mugsy Halas lured Jim Finks from Minnesota to become GM and rebuild the Bears. He had to build the Bears from the ground up because prior to his arrival the Bears were really bad. He started by building in the trenches. It took 3 years before they became a playoff team under Jack Pardee. He left the Bears for Washington and then Neil Armstrong was hired and brought Buddy Ryan as his DC. The team took a step back the next year and made the playoffs the following year after having 2 top 10 draft picks which sounds familiar to now. Dan Hampton and Al Harris were the 2. Poles has an opportunity to make this all better with the right choices.

Mongo you are listening to rumors from radio personalities and making a comment based on those rumors. I've recorded and re watched all the preseason games and Kap has proven over the years that some of his Halas Hall sources are inaccurate. When we see Fields in live action vs the packers we will know if his sources are true or not.

One rumor that was floating around Chicagoland was he hadn't passed a physical. Once he did so, he was taken off PUP.

The toughest thing when trying to move up in sports leagues is knowing when to go for that promotion. Cunningham may want to put a little more on his resume and an improvement with the young players acquired in the past 2 off seasons would do him good. I think the same goes for Getsy because whatever was said to encourage Fields to use his wheels has to have been something he encouraged. If JF1 shows marked improvement in passing stats he will get Shane Steichen(sp?) consideration.

Very eager to see this part of the offseason as opposed to the speculative part of the offseason. Let's see what we got. I can't believe how many so called Bears' fans are so negative about Justin Fields. He is being called everything from a bust to a RB.

Stinger the league doesn't agree with you. I'm not a big film watcher but, I watched him and he defends his position and doesn't attack defenders. IMO.

Jimbo Covert was the last OT the Bears drafted in the top 10 but, we have endured Cedric Benson , Kevin White, Mitch Trubisky, Leonard Floyd and Roquan Smith. As a Bears' fan I agree with Jason , this bothers me

There are 3 players that were considered 1st round talents still available Joey Porter Jr, Will Levis and Michael Mayer. This helps push the edge rushers to 53

As a fan of a franchise that is known for great RBs and LBs it is difficult to see this trend but, I get it. Lesson learned when Matt Forte played for another team. I've since put my focus on mid round RBs since the Pace Era.

I would consider myself an untrained eye because I never played football but, it seems Skoronski lets the defenders get into his space quickly and doesn't use power at the point of attack and more finesse. The arm length may truly be the reason because he doesn't look like he has his arms extended when engaged with a defender.

Truth be told AB I was trying to figure out a way to fit both Twins in my mock. I like Chase but, i think Sydney will have the better pro career.
