Right now Forte can't be traded because he is unsigned. This move was made to be insurance against a holdout by Matt and a possible replacement for Barber who doesn't seem to be a high football IQ player.Don't be shocked if they add a body in the draft also.
-
I'm confused with the discussion about what side Peppers played.I saw him line up on the left and right side on some plays and even in the middle of the DL on a few plays. Some times he and Izzy would switch as they were lining up. If we got a shot at Coples with the type of rotation that is played on the DL he would fit.
-
Forte will have probably the same money guaranteed when he signs his tender.
-
Right now all we have on the roster is Barber and now Bush plus the practice squad guys. Bell and Forte haven't signed their tenders.

The same way some of these suck coaches get another job.

They have been all over the place since the Bears made the trade for Marshall. Tomorrow will go a long way into determining if Martin leapfrogs Reiff in the draft. According to most it depends on what you like. Reiff is considered the better run blocker and Martin is considered the better pass blocker. On nfldraftscout.com Rang has the Bears taking Reiff and Brugler has them taking Nick Perry.

Coples is the higher rated player of the bunch and is being compared to another former Tarheel alum already on the Bears roster.

The guys who I saw make questionable hits on the clips that the NFL Network has been showing are Roman Harper, Darren Sharper, Shaun Rogers,Terry Porter and Vilma. I got a feeling once the NFLPA gets out of the way Vilma is going to be made an example of because of the much publicized 10k bounty he allegedly put in the mix.

With Ben Jarvus Green-Ellis signing with Cinci it is another option for Bush gone.

Jason I have been on board with the thinking that C. Williams is going to go back to LT. You have mentioned this with regularity in your OL posts. The only thing I'm not sure of is if you are in support of this move. I like the idea because of the way I saw him moving when he was pulling and trying to make blocks on the second level. If this can get Webb off the field and back in the learning mode I'm all for it. Because of the lack of bodies provided by the previous GM guys like Louis and Webb were pressed into action prematurely.

Not to beat a "dead horse" but, Omiyale would false start at Soldier's Field. I can't imagine him being able to handle the noise in Seattle and not move.

After some haggling over the details in Tebow's contract the deal has finally been confirmed. Officially Tebow and a 7th rounder for a Jets 4th and 6th rounder plus the Jets have a 5million dollar payback that is part of the language in Tebows contract for maney already paid to him(Bonus).
-
There are 4 legitimate first round OTs. Kalil, Reiff, Martin and Adams. A 5th player Cordy Glenn is added to the mix by some but, he looks better at OG IMO. So I wouldn't consider the class really weak since there are a few guys that have 2nd and 3rd round grades that could develop into solid OTs. There is a prospect from Boise named Potter who early in the evaluation process was highly thought of but the fact that he wasn't protecting his QB's blindside because his QB was left handed makes him a question mark. With the Saints losing a 2nd rounder this year evry pick at that point moves up one. If this kid is still there in the 3rd or 4th I'd draft him there. I also like the idea of signing a OT from Utah as an undrafted FA named John Cullen who is 6/4 299 as a project to develop.

There is news that arguably the worst OT in the league has signed with the Seahawks.Have fun Matt Flynn.

Agreed and after his better 40 time at the Baylor Pro Day today its a good move to show interest.Mayock clocked him at 4.45. A far cry from the 4.6 he ran at the Combine. Today's time supports what you see on the field when he plays.
-
We've seen it year after year and I have a feeling that its going to be a high rated prospect on the defensive side at other positions besides safety. Depending on who is talking the rankings for Poe ,Still,Worthy,Brockers and Cox have fluctuated tremendously since the Combine.

Blackmon will succeed based on where he goes if that is St Louis he might struggle initially but the fact that his career numbers have surpassed Dez Bryant's at Stillwater projects well on the next level. The key will be the health of RB Jackson who can open the field up for all the WRs. Floyd's injury history as well as his multiple drinking related problems worry me with him getting big bonus money. The fact that he ran in the 4.47 at his playing weight doesn't hurt his stock Hill just reminds me of Darius Hayward-Bey who rose dramatically during the Combine but has yet to make those numbers translate to success in the NFL.Then you look at Ga Tech's option offense you have to do a helluva projection based on what you think and not what you see on film.Translation a gamble Quick has to be looked at like former Appalachian St WR Dexter Jackson a 2008 2nd rd pick of the Bucs.He has the size but does his level of competition hold him back from translating to a solid pro in the NFL. Randle is a guy I'm high on but like Hill he played in a run heavy offense but, I saw him in games make some very clutch catches in big games. He seems very similar to Bowe in size and potential. I would be a big hippocrate if I didn't mention the prospect who I drooled over all season who seems to be dropping down some draft boards and that is Alshon Jeffrey. I think the kid has stud potential but may need to prove that he can do more than sideline routes which puts him in the Randy Moss mode with less speed. I also have talked up the Illini WR AJ Jenkins who led the big 10 in receptions on a terrible team with a run/pass QB in Scheelhase.(sp?) I also think mid to late round prospects like Marvin Jones of Cal and Dwight Jones of UNC also can be good pickups if other positions are being addressed first.

The way things are now how could this go down without someone not having footage on You Tube already? -
If the 2 OTs i mentioned are gone what do you take a OT reach or Glenn at OG(IMO).That is a reach at 19. That puts the other positions of need in play. Who do we have on the roster at DT? Who do we have on the roster at DE? Who do we have on the roster at CB? DT.Melton,Paea,Toeaina and Jordon Miller DE Izzy,Peppers,Wooten, Chauncey Davis and Thaddeus Gibson CB Tillman,Jennings,DJ Moore and Donovan Warren These are the players currently on the roster at these positions, so I believe they could use a new body at all 3 positions.
-
Wesson do me a favor please look up the success that true JR WRs have when they leave early and go to the NFL.This relates strictly to Hill of 28 career collegiate receptions.I truly don't think Floyd will make it to 19. Hill is too much of a question mark and risk to take at 19. He is Heyward-Bey to me. There are some prospects who may not have the 40 times of Hill and Floyd that can be had after the first and second and Jerry Rice proved that 40 times are overrated. Screw the Packers, they are not the defending SB champions anymore so who cares what they run. BTW don't they struggle to score against us most of the time?
-
I too want them to add to the mix and if Wooten doesn't stay healthy during TC cut him. I like the idea of Izzy going inside on 3rd down and helping get some push in the middle with Melton. With a whole TC this year and OTAs there should be no excuses for any of the fringe players.
-
Agreed and I was really impressed how he stood up and tried to answer every question honestly and sincerly and the fact that he didn't just spew out pc cliches' was what impressed me the most. He said enough to make me wait and see.I thought he showed great composure and seemed a little nervous while talking to the media.

Great post and if you look at some other teams like the Steelers for instance a guy like Hines Ward is let go and there would be an outpouring of anxiety here if a player like that was let go by the Bears. The move should have been made before Peppers was brought in to upgrade the whole organization. Even though I agree with you about hand-cuffing the GM, he seems to be operating with a little sense of urgency and has gone even on all three phases by signing 2 defenders,2 ST and signing and acquiring 4 offensive players.
-
Agreed but at Senior Bowl practice he was clearly better inside than out in space.
