Agreed and Adams would be considered a riser in terms of daily draft buzz. If he puts together good workouts during the Combine he will probably move up more. One of the knocks on him was the illegal benefits scandal at OSU that made Terrell(sp?) Pryor a Raider, made him sit a few games but listening to him talk at the Senior Bowl practices made me believe that his workouts are all thats left.

You are in the war room and Mike Adams and Michael Floyd are available at the 19th pick. What's your pick. I would take Floyd over Adams because I believe he is a higher rated prospect than Adams but Floyd can't get the ball if Cutler is on his back.

I like how all the so called tough media guys were basically asking the same questions and he was rubber stamping his answer. He seems like a straight-forward kind of guy and actually sounds like he has a plan on how to go forward from this point. One interesting thing he said was about the scouting approach now is not how he wants it to be and that he will keep somethings in place until after this draft.

OK I get what you are really saying but you have to realize after seeing them wear all white road uniforms and then all of a sudden in 84 blue pants and I was happy for that change. From time to time Lovie has had the team wear all White or all blue but in supporting what you are saying there hasn't been any radical changes to the uniform.I did check the site out before I posted and some of the changes I talked about they didn't have represented in picture like the unstriped look home jerseys early SF days. I don't care if they wear those ugly throwbacks with the strips vertical if they win a SB.
-
No they haven't ! During the 60's they had the 3 orange strip look on the home jersey which changed to the no strip look in their inagural seasons at Soldier's Field in the early 70's. They went back to the strips in the mid 70's and then made changes in the 80's to the road and home uniforms in 84. They added a GSH for George Stanley Halas on the sleeves and went with the navy blue pants on the road uniforms which actually was a retro look from 1940.In recent years I have noticed that the GSH is no longer a part of the jersey which indicates again a subtle change.

I have a strong feeling that Martin and Reiff will be gone by 19 and that leaves the rest of your list as viable options at 19 and if the Bears don't address pass rusher in FA,I'd add Upshaw and ingram to the list.

Mongo he is definetly not off the hook but you have to believe since JA came from the same organization he should not have to consult the coach about what type of defender was need for this style of defense which he preferred over Jauron's 4-3 version which had bigger DL and did the read and react style vs the penetrate and rush up field style. I remember going from a D-line of Daniels,Traylor,Washington and Robinson to the first playoff DL of JA's tenure Brown,Harris,Johnson and Ogunleye. That is 3 draft picks and a FA all from JA and not one is still with the team. 2 money related,1 injury related and 1 character related. If I wanted to place blame on Lovie for any positiond on D it has to be LB and safety. At LB he has had 2 of the league's best LBs since his first year but that sam position has never really had a comparable guy to Briggs and Urlacher. At safety he actually worked out Manning and spent time with him before the draft and took him under his wing while he was here and the shear number of guys that have come through here since Mike Brown and Mike Green is staggering. BTW did JA trade Tony Parrish or let him go via FA or was that prior to his tenure?

I still want to wait and see and I don't know about you but when I hear all these guys who are on the Bears beat making comments on the radio, they always talk as if they are trying to be careful not to offend someone.

Thanks for sharing Noots and giving your honest opinion of the situation. I truly believe this was done ass-backwards and whether I like Lovie or not, if he is not fired the GM should not have been fired just based on the "Status Quo" press conference. If you think about the last 2 coaching hires with the courting of Nick Saban and the Dave McGinnis fiasco and now the GM must retain the current coach, this organization needs to come into the modern ages. This is no different than when Ditka had to accept Buddy Ryan as his defensive coordinator 30 years ago when Papa Bear made that move. He over stepped the GM Jim Finks and brought Ditka in as his last power play. Maybe George is trying to be his namesake 30 years later.

Did you really read the names in the Missy Issacson article? McGowan was a UFA Mark Levoir Who? Benson was not living up to his lofty draft status and his teammates didn't like him Tank Johnson shooting illegal weapons in your backyard as well as getting pulled over for a DUI in another state justified him being let go after al his off the field crap. JT O Sullivan was not drafted by JA and was only here as a 3rd qb Mike Gandy not a JA pick B Rob come on"I tripped over my dog and fell down a flight of stairs and broke both my wrist" Plus that was an FA signing before JA Ian Scott was mediocre here at best he was Anthony Adams and Matt Toeina. Bernard Berrien got an insane contract offer from the Vikings and didn't finish this year out Marc Columbo how do you develop a guy constantly in the trainer's room? Alfonso Boone again a FA signing that should have been developed before he got here Brendan Ayanbadejo a journeyman special teamer not being developed who wanted to be the "Highest Paid Special Teamer in the League" and again an FA signing not a draft pick. Out of 12 players listed 5 were draft picks of JA,5 were Fa signings whether undrafted or veteran and 2 were here before JA and the current "culprit" were here.

I have read some reports on NFL.com that have Marshall recruiting Flynn to come to Miami and be their QB. If that is true it tells me 2 things: 1. I wouldn't trade for a guy who is trying to bring players to his team 2. He must be happy with what the new coach who is used to coaching a fleet of WRs is telling him so far. When Philbin gives his GM his wish list you have to believe that Marshall is on it.

BrianBear you are on top of eveything today. Outstanding thanks. I was checking out Senior Bowl buzz when I saw the nes and came here. Here's a name for those who would like an OT Mike Adams from Ohio State is receiving some good compliments form the scouts at the Senior Bowl and could be on the rise. Also Cordy Glenn was working some at LT. He struggled early in the week but started to hold his own at week's end. When he moved back inside though he showed why he is solid there.

Jason if you have to explain it then forget it. I clearly understood what you were getting at and totally agree with you and Suggs. Bayless is a Douche Bag and when he was here writing a colunm for one of the scribs he slurped Wannie as if he was a relative of his. Just like Marriotti Bayless should never be a national talking head.

I did look at the O and feel that Jennings should have been there before Nelson or Harvin.
-
There have been a few reports that have down played Cutler and Bates relationship almost going as far as to say that it is basically over-blown how well they get along. If I had to choose off the current rack if the guy from the Colts, I believe his name is Christiansen isn't willing to come here then why not former Raiders HC Hugh Jackson?
-
Agreed, but as Director of Scouting he does have the power to make strong recomendations on prospects. The key will be if he has an ear with the new GM.
-
Agreed I look at both candidates as potential Mark Hatley types. For those keeping score thats the guy before Angelo who drafted Kreutz,Mannely, Urlacher,Mike Brown, Marty Booker, Rosey Colvin, Warrick Holman, and Jerry Azumah. Sometimes career scouts can simplify things. With the contract negotiation part not an issue the talent guys don't do to bad in picking NFL type players. Plus with a guy like Emery who knows what type of player that this team is looking for and having been at KC when I believe Herm Edwards was still there he could truly know what type of player this scheme on D requires and since Todd Haley probably has a similar offensive to what Tice is going to install he should be able to recognize what type of player that is needed on offense also. I hope regardless of what schemes the Bears run that when a player is a blue chip prospect when the Bears pick if he is not a guy they want just act like you are going to take that player. Show some professionalism this time around when you have a team on the phone complete the details of the trade and be honorable. If one of the 2 remaining candidates can pull this of so be it. I do cringe at the thought of a lifetime scout getting a chance to pick a coach just like Hatley and the whole McGinnis-Jauron fiasco as well as the former GM who was nothing more than a scout before he got here picked the coach that quite a few want launched now.

Protection issues even off the field for Cutler. Well at least it happen in the sack and not via a sack.
-
Both players were drafted in the first round, so what is your question? Thomas was the first WR taken in 2010 and Nicks was the the 4th taken in 2009 after Heyward-Bey,Crabtree,Macklin and Harvin. So again what are you getting at?
-
I'm not quite sure how it all works but,I do believe the Bears recieved a draft pick for Berrien comparable to the round he was drafted in.(3rd) It also came at the end of the round. I just can't remember exactly when he signed with the Vikings.
-
I'm a little worried that they may just go with Ruskell and Lovie making the moves this year. The one good thing will be if Lovie has a more active role he won't be able to blame anyone else for not fielding a solid team since he is "picking the groceries'.
-
Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought he had a significant injury to his knee and actually went to great lengths to try and prove that he was ready to play with a nationally televised workout that no teams attended where he didn't really show that he could completely make all cuts.

This is all the talk before everyone sees how fast these guys run their 40 times.Jeffrey as well as Floyd have questions about their top end speed which is why there is a big disparity in where most experts think they will go.Floyd's character concerns will factor in also as well as Jeffrey's route running.

Neither would I the consensus on most of the mocks I have seen has been Floyd with Bucky Brooks being the lone NFL Network Analyst pick De Castro also not a bad pick.
