That exactly what he is doing and its like the Vikings are now trying to say they are interested in someone besides Kalil. If you have a franchise back and QB(?) don't you need to shore up the OL? Emery talking about the need for OL help is old news and is saying what most of us want to hear. Listening to Cutler at the PC today made me feel he is happy with what they have now and seems to have an audiemce with Emery.
-
If they come out of the first with Martin or Adams,I'd be happy but I wouldn't be surprise if a defensive player was taken in the first(DT,DE or CB). If that happens Osemele and Sanders come into play.

You have got to be kidding me! Hill is no where near the prospect Megatron was who was the best player in the 2007 draft that everyone but the Raiders agreed with as he went number 2 overall. Hill may have elevated himself into the first round because of his combine numbers but both Johnson and Thomas from the same school were the number one prospects at their position leading up to the draft. Can you say that about Hill?

Late first and 2nd rd yes but, the Bears are drafting in the mid first and that would be sitting a draft pick with mid first money and a bonus on the bench to develop. Now if another position of need is addressed at the pick with a player that can get on the field sooner like an OT,CB or DE(Izzy still unsigned)I would feel better with that direction. I'm just a little leery of stars of the combine who don't have the history on game film to support their lofty workout numbers.

Wesson you have been all over the place with this!! In this 4 WR set you mention where is the TE you say should handle the middle and Matt Forte? If a team plays a nickel or dime package there won't be many LBs on the field. The mismatch would have to come against a safety, dime or nickel. BTW what team has 3 6-4 WRs?
-
Maybe the 2 young undrafted TEs they kept last year fit that category Adams and Smith.

Here is my list of prospects with size that should be available after round one. As for Stepen Hill I can't truly feel comfortable with him backing up Marshall when he is considered an upside prospect with the limited amount of career receptions in the option offense he played in at Ga Tech. I consider him in the same category as the Broncos Thomas who played at Tech also but took time to develop and is still a work in progress. R Randle 6-3 210 B. Quick 6-4 220 G. Childs 6-3 219 M. Jones 6-2 199 N. Toon 6-2 215 D. Jones 6-3 230 J. Criner 6-3 224 J. Fuller 6-4 223

With Corey Graham headed out the door he will potentially be one of the gunners on pumt coverage as he did beat out Graham in 2010 as a special teams ace in the pro bowl.

The reason why the GM and the coaches of the Saints should be fined more severly in this case is because they were warned to stop after the 2009 season. Since Gregg Williams has implemented this on all of his NFL stops he should receive the highest penalty. If the reports of Vilma offering 10 grand are true he will be punished pretty hard as well. BTW Buddy Ryan did encourage knocking out the QB and also assigned players to go after the kickers at times.

I'm a little confused at the ton of OG depth they have. Edwin Williams is it. Who else am I missing in the rest of the ton I hope you are not counting the current starting center! L.Williams, Lance Louis and Edwin Williams are what we have at OG right now with E Williams being depth.

Please explain why the Big Ten leader in receptions will be lucky to go in round 3.

Here's to Emery's first significant move as I down a shot of Vodka. To Frank Omiyale may your next venture in life be successful because this one was not. My TVs would like to thank you for finally getting cut so that they don't get the remote slammed into them whenever you took the field.
-
This is exactly why I posted this mock. You don't need to know Emery's MO to realize that he needs to help more than the OL. I like the idea of taking a WR in the 3rd but would rather have a first or a 2nd rd talent. I'm still intrigued with Rueben Randle and AJ Jenkins both of whom I think can be had in the 2nd. After the 1st rd the OT talent drops off and becomes more of a question mark.
-
The only way to get it under control is to not buy them. I know for someone like myself who is able to watch every Bear game without a hitch at home on TV that is easy to say but , the McKaskeys know that if there are empty seats showing in one of the smallest capacity stadiums in the league they need to address the problem.
-
1st Rd Jonathan Martin OT 2nd Rd Bobbie Massie OT 3rd Rd Juron Criner WR 3rd Rd Coryell Judie CB I have a hard time believing that Martin will drop to 19 and that the Bears will spend 2 picks on OTs in the first 2 rounds but as usual most mock draftniks don't follow teams as well as the fans do on a daily basis.
-
Agreed and he still has his pro day to try and show an upgrade in strength at the bench press. If he is going to drop it is because of the talent on the DL will start a feeding frenzy in the early rounds.

Lets face the facts. Drafting a first round RT seems to be a mistake now in hindsight since the idea was to swing Webb over to LT where his "skill set" was better suited. That was a complete miscalculation to believe a guy you drafted in the 7th rd that played against lesser competition, could go from project at RT to protecting the franchise QB's blindside without a full TC or any OTAs to learn the position. This is where the problem will be.Our viewpoint is that you have seen enough of a body of work to determine that Webb is a RT. They may feel that with a full offseason calender he will improve(I say that is a little optomistic). So I'm trying to focus on the top rated defensive prospects that may drop to the Bears at the 19th pick. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears took a Nick Perry,Dre Kirkpatrick or Fletcher Cox with the reported release of Anthony Adams. IMO if Floyd is there I take him because his 40 time was run at his playing weight and that's what I like. I also like the idea of taking a project guy like Stephen Hill of Ga Tech in rd 3 who has the size and speed you want as well,he is just lacking in the body of work on film. Coming from the offense he played in I'm sure blocking isn't an issue.

Jerry Rice is one of the most gifted WRs of all time but that doesn't make him an expert on WRs. Watching him hold on to a dying career at the end telss me he couldn't know that his own skills had declined. If compared to Chris Carter who also was very talented is much more precise and conveys his thoughts much better than Rice. I'll go out on a limb and say Michael Irvin sounds more intelligent and that should be a big enough insult.

A lot of these reports are coming from sources that don't have full access to the salary cap dynamics. Example if the source from the Bears was Cliff Stein I would not dispute those numbers but it is common practice at Halas Hall to give as little info about anything as possible.
-
Just looked at GBN mock and they had the Bears trading their 19th and 81st pick to the Eagles for the 15th pick to draft Jonathan Martin. I like Martin but don't think he is worth 2 draft picks when Adams will still be on the board. That is the first non-Michael Floyd pick in weeks. I am a no trade fan for this year unless we can fleece somebody.
-
Great post. I just wonder what they did with the kid who plays center from Oregon. Linnekohl?(SP?)
-
I concur.I was watching him on NFL Live today and he had to constantly look down at his notes and struggled with names. He is absolutely awful.
-
True he wasn't GM but it seems his scouting area of expertise was the southeast. That was his area when he was here and I beliieve when he was with the Falcons and the Chiefs. When you look at Brandon Albert,Glenn Dorsey,Tyson Jackson and Eric Berry his area is well represented and shows his influence. Not to metion Roddy White also.
-
Mad L I have looked at several mocks and I would have to say that 90% of them have the Bears taking Floyd. The only time this happened recently was when most draft experts had the Bears taking Chris Williams for what its worth if we are watching mock draft trends and the Bears. Well if we are watching trends of the team that Emery came from the Chiefs then we should look at how they have drafted. 5 out of their last 8 first rounders have been on defense. That puts KC in the same category with JA in terms of where the focus is. The 3 offensive players have been Jon Baldwin,Brandon Albert and DeWayne Bowe. The 5 defenders Eric Berry, Tyson Jackson,Glen Dorsey, Tamba Halli and Derrick Johnson. So this will be interesting to see where Emery will go.
