  1. Prior to the lockout I thought the NFL financial year started in March and that is when a lot of roster bonuses are paid out so between now and then you will see the veterans cut that are due a big number. Probably then you will start seeing cap money speculation.
  2. Me Thinks that if you are a former head coach and played TE in the league you should know a little something about passing offense,if not the he was a bad choice.
  3. You're right and I believe the researcher who is compiling this data won't be finished until this year's TCs.
  4. Thats why I have Meacham as my target for a 2nd option because he is opposite Colston and I believe that the Saints will go all out to retain Colston and give Meacham an opportunity to try and establish himself with another team. Given Emery's area of scouting was the Southeast,Tennessee and LSU are in the SEC conference so I'm trying to match up what I believe Emery would go for.
  5. From what I have read there is no passing coordinator and that Bates is just a QB coach.
  6. Then add the play where he lined up wrong against KC and we might have made the playoffs and really screwed our draft position but,JA is not pick and we really don't know much about the man with the final say which should keep this board hopping 'til the draft. I just feel that Barber showed his lack of football IQ on the plays we are talking about and after recovering from a calf injury to attempt to do a flip in the endzone after you score a TD tells me you aren't to bright at all.
  7. AZ54 when the GM of a team offers a player with declining skills more than market value and then tells him that after a prolonged negotiation that he has one hour to agree to the deal or they are pulling it off the table and then shortly after that sign a player that plays the same position to a multi year contract. What would you call it ? Regardless of what everyone is saying,I believe JA signed Spencer to tell Kruetz "Here's to You" and for him to take the starting center position. With the lockout and Garza familiarity with the blocking assignments, Spencer would have had to be the football ecquivalent to Einstein to get up to speed the way they made all the FAs sit out a week of TC. Just hearing some of the stuff that was rumored about Bates and JA leads me to believe he would get even with someone if they didn't agree with his thinking. He and Lovie are the same in that manner.
  8. We all can pretty much scrap that last offseason which was a scramble for whatever you could get in and get acclimated to your playbook on the fly.To bring in a center without a full off season of mini camps and OTA's and expect him to replace a guy who knew all the calls and adjustments is fantasy.Spencer was a vengence signing by JA to show Kruetz that the team had moved on. I believe he did issue that ultimatum about having one hour to sign the deal the team had offfered or else it would be off the table.
  9. The Bears went after him after his stint as DC with Jauron in Buffalo. He was only here in 05 when Chico got shown the door,so he knows what happened and may have been looking for ways to leave anyway.I get him confused with the assistant that left to go join Les Miles at Ok St. Somebody please help with the name.

    Knox update

Great job everyone on putting things in proper perspective. The only hit I can remember off the top of my head that was similar, from my own personal view is former packer CB Tim Lewis being injured on a hit with a helmet to helmet collision with Willie Gault. This happened on a Mon Nite game and he was strapped on a stretcher and taken off the field as well and never played again because doctors deemed it to be risky for him.He was diagnosed with something in his spine being not right and making him a high risk for a permanent neck or spine injury. I personally remember watching Knox at the Combine and running a blistering 40 time and was ecstatic the Bears got him in the 5th round. IMO he is a Cinderella story and now his glass slipper may be broken ending a feel good story. He is the poster child for level of competition critics.
  11. I am of the mind of lets not go down the extreme veteran road anymore and if your sites are set on a veteran FA WR like Bowe,Jackson or Colston that would be okay. The veterans that are hanging on by a thread like TO,Ocho and Houshm.... and even Lloyd should not be the focus of this team. With Bennett really the only big investment at WR right now everyone else should have to work for their spots meaning Knox,Hester and Sazenbacher(who should also be fighting for a roster spot this next TC. Summary:Sign a FA WR as a number one option, sign a second tier WR as a second option and pick up a WR in the draft maybe 2nd or third round. This sends Hester to returnman full time,Bennett to the slot WR and Knox on notice or IR,PUP.Sazenbacher to his resume. Wish list: Bowe and Meachem in FA and Rueben Randle of LSU in the draft.
  12. Jason outstanding post! Those numbers say it all and I'm sure it doesn't include hits or sacks erased by penalties by Bears opponents.I always thought that hits are almost doubled compared to sacks and pressures almost doubled compared to hits which should include a sum of hits and sacks plus the times the QB was able to get the ball off by avoiding a defender or recognizing where the pressure is coming from and getting rid of the ball without being hit or sacked.
  13. I agree with that. I believe the kid Tony Washington who was a top OT prospect from there was on the Bears' radar and when the information came out that he had a sexual relationship with his step or foster sister who was under age he went undrafted. The Bears under JA and Lovie have done extensive scouting in the Texas area with schools like Abilene-Christian,Texas and Texas A&M Kingsville in the mix. Texas A&M Kingsville was a contributor to the Bucs roster during JA's tenure there which, leads me to believe that was part of his scouting area and Roberto Garza is the only current Bear who is an alumnus and JA brouhgt him in as a FA leading me to believe he knew about and liked him coming out. One other name off the top of my head that he also brought here was Robby Abdullah basically a special teamer.
  14. What did that do in terms of production on the field? The changes were made under the former coach and they didn't have a winning record under his tenure. So why are you really stuck on changing the uniforms when that has absolutely nothing to do with how players play on the field?
  15. Is he playing or not has been a constant when it comes to Osi and that alone tells me that both teams should hold their collective grounds on both players and let them threaten to hold out or whatever and see what happens because since they have contracts I believe they should honor them. To buckle to contracturaly obligated players is contradictory to why they locked the players out this past offseason.
  16. Since Grossman is still in the NFL after being drafted in 2003 and is a starting QB currently. I'd say that is a good career.Ian Scott lasted until 2009 with the Chargers after he left the Bears and was drafted same year as Grossman. Thats 7 years for a 4th rounder, which means 2 NFL contracts. Thats a good career. Metcalf lasted 7 seasons after being drafted in the 3rd round by the Bears and he too had 2 NFL contracts. With the money that is paid to these guys they have all had good careers if you base this on the average NFL career and how much the average American makes/made during that same time frame. Now if you are trying to base it on production or stats that is different than how a scout looks at success. If a scout recommends a prospect and he stays in the NFL more than 4 years that is deemed a success.
  17. I like how you phrased how Hester should be viewed. He IMO is HOF talent, the problem is for him to get voted in as basically a special teamer would set a precedent that some of the voters may be reluctant to do. If thats not the case then why isn't Ray Guy the greatest punter I have ever seen play in the Hall? I consider picks like Hester and Manning as well as Bazuin,Roe Williams and Tillman more like trying to catch lightening in a bottle.
  18. I thought Chitownhustla responded to TT's original point of only drafting Div I schools. No one can approach the draft like that. I don't care if you find a player under a rock if he can help the team bring him in. Chitown also emphasized that you can also take a look at the smaller Div I schools and find a guy like Urlacher. This team's early rounders from whatever school haven't fared so well which is why Emery was on public display yesterday instead of JA the reach master.
  19. Also gets some credit for helping develop Josh Freeman from former Bucs OC Greg Olsen and TE coach Alfredo Roberts.
  20. As well as HOF DEs Richard Dent Tennessee St,Reggie White Tennessee State and former Bear Jerry Azumah and current Bear Corey Graham New Hampshire,SBMVPs Doug Williams Grambling and Phil Simms Morehead State and the list goes on and on.
  21. Yep and I guess the Bears are talking to Van Pelt per the Trib.
  22. Thanks it is definietly smaller than it used to be and maybe its time to upgrade my eye wear.LOL These middle-aged eyes need help when I watch the game .I really can't make out anything on the sports tickers on the screen without my glasses.
  23. I agree and with most of the people he named I can't remember a press conference from any of them. Now with all the press conferences we have had during JA's tenure the "Whistle Dixie" one was a perfect end to his tenure. He constantly made references to have complete control was not where his head was at. He admitted on several times that he had power in certain situations but said that was not "Where My Head Is At" and emphasized team effort and expertise.
  24. That also would include FA and since none of us know what PE is going to do all we have is speculation. I personally like the way Adams is progressing and also he as well as Cordy Glenn worked out at LT and played LT in the game and fared well. . He played LT at OSU so I still believe he is an upgrade over Webb and I still hold out hope that the draft an interior guy and move Williams back out to LT with a block or bust mentality.
  25. Pix I agree but I have had trouble finding a mock that doesn't have the Bears taking Floyd and I believe Floyd should be gone before the pick but listening to PE (gotta use his initials now) he seems to already have a thought out plan. I personally would prefer the Bears to take the highest rated OL at 19 and then hope for Brian Quick of App. ST to be available or Rueben Randle two WRs that probably will be available with the Bears 2nd rd pick.
