New CBA makes it a 1st only.

I would also kick the tires on the Mike Wallace situation. He would cost the 19th if you sign him but, that would be versus drafting one of the first rounders and hoping they pan out when this guy is a proven commodity.
-
In the past I have posted the idea of grabbing Meachem who we all know is going to hit the open market but may not command the big salary that some of the top tier WRs would and he has the speed and size that this team needs.Teamed with a Jackson or Bowe and we got something to talk about. Then the focus of the draft would be to get Cutler some protection at 19 unless a DE prospect falls that we need to grab like Coples, Ingram or Upshaw.I know the kid from Illinois will be there at the 19 pick but he will have to set Indy on fire for me to believe they should take him over the other prospects I mentioned. With Bennett and a mid round pick the WRs have been upgraded and the OL and scondary could be the focus the rest of the draft.

B Bear Great Post! You go through all the scenarios plus come up with a solid draft pick. Me Like!
-
Agreed and made a nice TD catch in the game that was clutch but this is the interview process and as WR extra weight gain without saying its from the weight room is a red flag. Again I restate that this is a report and is not actually the combine so his stock could move up or down.
-
Agreed and look at Manningham just last week.I liked him and Arrington at Michigan when they were coming out. Toon has had some injury issues also so teams will look closely at his medical records. I tend to rate WRs based on the QB play during their careers. Toon has a draft eligible qb and the other 2 players I talked about(McNutt and Jenkins) from the conference don't. If you are considered inconsistent with a draft eligible QB you go under the microsope. He is in the same category IMO as Michigan St"s BJ Cunningham who also has a draft eligible qb in Kirk Cousins.

I can't champion the cause of former GM Jim Finks and disagree with what you have been posting for how may years now? Even if you are joking ? Its right!
-
Go for it TT because you actually have watched some of the players play. A lot of the draft sites are dormant during college season and you are not. Let it rip!!

Stinger 226 through the years watching the WRs from the Big Ten Conference there hasn't been many from any other teams than Ohio State and Michigan who have excelled in the NFL. WTBS Toon is the son of a former NFL player that might be giving him a little more hype than he deserves because for all the discussion between he and Mc Nutt, AJ Jenkins was actually the receptions leader in the conference.Of the 3 when I watched Big Ten games Jenkins was the most impressive. Both Toon and McNutt had better passing QBs because Illinois' Schelhase(SP?) was more of an athlete and prior to him Juice was very inconsistent. I say like quite a few is saying lets see how they do at the Combine before we make our final assessments. There was a lot of scouts who didn't believe that Arien Foster was a draft prospect and as we can see that was an oversight.

On the day after Randy Moss' agent says he is unretired. The one kid who probaly is similar to him in terms of preferred routes is showing why his draft stock is dropping.I look for him to not work out at the combine. This is coming from the one poster who was championing the cause for the Bears to draft him in the first round. If this info is true then that thud you hear is me jumping of the Alshon Jeffrey bandwagon. B Bear you can see I still have adhered to the correct spelling of his name. Iam still grateful to you for pointing out a mistake that would give other posters a hard time looking up a prospect.

Knowing the affects of an annuerism(sp?) from a friend of mine's mother having 2 and living a couple of years afterwards, tells me that this maybe something that needs to be addressed when it comes to healthcare issues.I hope and pray that Tommie and his family gets through this okay.
-
I salivate at the thought of Williams and Peppers on the d-line together and would add Meachem to your WR wish list after Royal.
-
Agreed but in order to get the ownership to make the necessary changes we would like. we all need to raise our expectations for the team. Every year its SB or bust and then maybe we can get a consistent contender. That is why this offseason is very important to this franchise.I believe its a lot of pressure on Lovie and Emery to right this ship. If we have a solid offseason, meaning draft and FA.The roster needs a serious upgrade and all eyes are on the one who gets the groceries and the one who cooks them.

I like your 4th rounder and have watched him play for the past 2 years in the MAC. Jordan White I believe is going to be a solid pro and has some real good hands. He also has broken some of Greg Jennings records at Western Michigan. 6-0 215 and 4.54 current listed speed he is quite as big as desired but in that round your trying to catch one. If I had to go against anything you have here its not addressing DL before the 7th RD. I also like Brian Quick of Appalachian State. He is right there with Jones. If Ingram or Upshaw fall to the Bears at 19 I would hate to have to make that choice.

Stinger 226 thanks for the complement and for a fellow member of the 50+(52) club I understand where you are coming from. There are a lot of great posters here that have taught me how to post without taking things personally and I have to credit Jason and TT for straightening me out.I have read Jason's posts from another board and enjoyed them then. Like you stated we don't always agree with each other but that would be boring. I too consider myself an avid draft fan and base a lot of my opinion on watching anywhere from 3 to 5 different games every Sat during the fall and following the player rankings on a couple of sites regularly. When JA was here I made a point of trying to findout who the top prospects were in some of the smaller conferences that he had picks from. BTW don't sell yourself short you post pretty well too!
-
Thank You! The Bears whole secondary is up for auction except Tillman,Conte,Wright and DJ Moore. Waters and Joshua Moore don't matter and would have to compete for a roster spot.
-
According to a few draft sites he is rated no higher than the 20th best prospect at his position. The scary part is one person compared him to Roy Williams. I don't agree with that.He is a decent route runner that I believe is similar to Earl Bennett. Thats not bad but thats not what this team needs.A solid go to guy with size and speed to become a constant threat on every down is what this team needs with possible game breaking abilty. I always use an old school approach to big ten schools and their skill position players. When they have transition to the pros what has this school produced at the pro level. Iowa has lagged in those positions but in the trenches on both sides of the ball and at LB, Kirk Ferentz has produced some solid pro prospects. Shonne Greene is the best skill position player that has been produced under Ferentz.WTBS if he is there in round 4 or 5 where he is projected and most of our pressing needs are addressed then I say pick him and show Sazenbacher the door.

You never know what the San Diego GM's motives are but releasing McNeal while he may not be 100% could because a roster bonus due soon and to gear up and sign V Jack.
-
Spot on and you could count on Al Davis to provide the fireworks in almost every draft especially if he was drafting in the top 10. The Raiders don't have a pick in the first this year so we may have to hope for someone trying to trade up to create the draft confusion.Every year there is a high rated player sitting in the green room waiting to get picked and it is usualy based on what position has a run going. This year I think DE or CB could be the positions to cause a run because most scouts believe that those positions are not as deep as well as safety.
-
These are written for bragging rights, when its done this early so they can pull their picks out of the archives. With a full TC for eveyone of the non-playoff teams I like the Bears and the Oakland Raiders to surprise. With Al Davis no longer in control of things I can see some key pieces being add to a roster that wasn't that bad.
-
Inconsistent is the word that most scouts agree fits Toon and he has an injury history. the thing that gets him the most hype is his pedigree but if you follow the careers of some of the Badger skill position players as they transition to the NFL mediocre at best with Lee Evans and Owen Danials being the the current best.
-
TT you're right and like I have posted I watched him at the Combine on TV workout and was happy to see the Bears draft him. Seeing the way his head snapped back still makes me cringe and what Coach Ditka is doing with the Grid Iron greats showing how some of the players from my younger days are struggling supports your thoughts. His position will expose him to more violent hits and its not like Knox is the biggest guy in the world.
-
Out of the 12 or so mocks I have looked at 2 of them have the Bears taking Wright, 1 De Castro(Charles Davis NFL Network) and the rest have them on Floyd. I know that doesn't mean anything until the stop watches and the Steelers coach is telling guys to relax and blowing his whistle but the little we know about Emery is that Roddy White,DeWayne Bowe and Marty Booker were selected by teams he scouted for under his recommendation.
-
He also stated that the only time the brace comes off is when he showers. that in itself tells me there is a long rehab to follow and there is also speculation that he wouldn't be ready for TC which leads me to believe that entering his last year under contract he could be a candidate for an injury settlement if the Bears doctors don't think he will recover. If he is not ready by TC I could see them putting him on the PUP list at the start of the season and then when they have to make the decision to activate him and he is still not ready then he is cut(injury settlement).

I think you missed what Jason said about FA. Aviril and Finnegan would be added to the defense then he would go for the offense in the draft. I personally believe that Finnegan could wind up with the Lions playing for his old DC Schwartz but I can understand the thinking just like when Jennings was signed someone will be available via FA for the secondary.
