  1. He's a career back-up who was drafted in the 2nd round in 2010. To me this just shows the direction our scheme is headed. Ducasse is 6-5, 325. That is a big man. He immediately becomes the Bears heaviest offensive lineman. And he's a guard. Our offensive line was previously designed for pass-blocking and not so much run blocking. To me this indicates a change in that. We keep showing interest in OG's and centers. Yet RT is our greatest position of need on the O-line. Is it safe to assume Kyle Long will be changing positions?
  2. I couldn't agree more. NFL.com had Parker ranked as the 88th best free agent, behind both Peanut Tillman and Lance Briggs. This is one of those deals that makes me wonder, what was his second best offer?
  3. No thanks. We just gave away one crazy in Brandon Marshall. Why would we bring in another crazy? As per the witnesses police report, "Hardy picked me up over his head and threw me on the couch covered with shot-guns/assault rifles. Hardy bragged that they were loaded." (he later threw her down the stairs at his apartment to let her leave.). I don't mind players getting arrested, but this arrest indicates a lifestyle similar to Aaron Hernandez.

    Cap Situation

Can we make room for Peanut? I've not heard a single word about him. We announced guys we were not bringing back, and he was not one of them. We need him and it would be really nice if he could finish his career as a Bear.
  5. Jordan vs. Magic, Brady, vs. Manning, and in another unforgettable matchup, we had the 2010 Thursday night game that matched Todd Collins vs. Jimmy Clausen . . . yikes that was ugly. I had to make my 2 daughters shield their eye. Even though the Bears won 23-6, immediately following the game I Googled, "How can I have my memory erased." Granted that was 5 years ago, but that was a bucketful of bad on Clausen's part. Did I mention Collins threw 4 interceptions? Clausen seems like he can be a good back-up. The fact that we didn't sign him for the minimum proves that. But him challenging Cutler is laughable.
  6. Wasn't he the guy who was originally supposed to host Cheap Seats?
  7. What is Parker's value? He's not listed in the PFT top 100.
  8. Or we have room for one more big deal. How many times in the past have we been out of cap room and then signed a guy for 3-5 million annually? It seems like it happens every year. Yet every year, we are in damn good shape in terms of the cap. That being said, we need depth. Sign guys like Peanut for 1.5 million a pop. We are woefully thin at every position.
  9. Maybe. But to me it makes me wonder how much we value the positiion. We probably need a nose tackle and he was the only one available. We have enough cap space to sign him and the other 3. If we wanted to make it happen, it would have easily happened.
  10. Somewhat? I don't know about you, but I was expecting 3 years, 10 million max. Royal's never had a 1000 yard season. And while he's the #2, everyone agrees he's best utilized as a #3 WR.

    LOLovie

Thanks! That was the really bad linebacker. The really bad 2nd rounder was DE Dan Bazuin. In between the two was Garrett Wolf. Legend has it, this was the draft where Lovie was finally able to heavily levy his opinion.
  12. I'm wondering at where all the love for Mason Foster comes from? PFT has him ranked #88 on the free agent list. Typically that's a borderline starter. Don't get me wrong, by Bear standards, he's probably awesome. And he has to be better than most of the linebackers we have. I'm just curious where all the love comes from.
  13. Can you post a picture of her

    LOLovie

The thing is, Lovie is a pretty damn good coach. He is a HORRIBLE GM. He was credited for bringing in the likes of Adam Archuletta and that really bad linebacker we drafted in the 2nd round and we dumped after two seasons (I'm too lazy to look up his damn name). Josh McCown, Michael Johnson, and now Golson. Terrible. He should fire himself.
  15. I'm SHOCKED by this. He was asking for 5 years, 8-9 million. His being out of shape apparently hurt him. This is one of those deals where the Bears never had any real intention of signing him. If we wanted him, we could have had him easily.
  16. Agreed. Right now I feel like the nose tackle is a glaring weakness. We sign Pot Roast and we could go any direction. Safety, cornerback, linebacker, o-line, quarterback . . . (I'm still ruling out WR but I wouldn't stake my life on it.)
  17. Do you still think we draft Shelton if we sign Pot Roast?

    Attitude!!

I'm trying to remember, were we saying something similar last season after signing Lamar Houston, Willie Young, Ryan Mundy, and Jared Allen? On a side note, while that free agent class was underwhelming, how's Lovie Smith doing as GM? His was even worse.
  19. Agreed. Doesn't Pork Roast have to be our priority since Houston is playing linebacker?
  20. Ok, for that press conference I mentioned, we now have Royal and Rolle . . . do we get Parker to be the mysterious 3rd man? I predicted 3 years 9 million, I was close with Rolle in 3 years 11.25 (with 5 guaranteed.) He's the big thumper Fangio likes. After 6 million for signing drafted players, we had roughly 25 million available. I'm guessing these 3 signings take up 15 of that (although we can structure it a million different ways.)
  21. 3 years 11.25 million. I'm guessing somebody beat me to this but I didn't see it.
  22. Nice! Depending on the $$$ I'll say good move. He's better than Hartline, and Hartline got 2 years 6 million. I'll guess 3 years 10 million?
  23. I just can't see Houston being able to drop back and guard anybody in traffic. He's too stout. When we signed him, he was primarily a run-stuffing DE who occasionally got to the QB. Willie young is 6-4, 251. David Bass is 6-4, 256. I get those guys playing there. Young is 6-3, 300. Unless he can jump and run like Charles Barkley in his prime, I don't see it happening.
  24. I wondering if they just want to stretch things out. We sign McPhee for 40 million to be our stub lb. Boom. That's our major signing and the big story. We have the press conference with Fox and Pace. I expect another press conference tomorrow where we introduce Royal, Rolle . . . and a 3rd person yet to be named. Guys we are signing for something in the range of 3 years--9 million.
  25. Why am I starting to feel like all these deals were pre-arragned but for some reason teams are waiting to announce them. Agents have been negotiating since the combine. Royal was in the building at 3:00 yesterday. It took an additional day and a half to reach an agreement? Granted, Rolle STILL hasn't signed, but with the Royal signing being announced, I expect Rolle will come soon.
