  1. Rolle turns 33 in December. Ain't nobody give him big money or years.
  2. Dang. Two years, six million. That ain't much. The Bears must have really lowballed him. I can't imagine any WR wanting to go to the mess in Cleveland to catch balls from Johnny Jackass as Cade McCown. It took him a few days to think about it.

  4. Agreed, but you can't not sign older veterans to one year deals just because they are old. I agree he's not a good fit mainly because Alshon is a big WR and we need a speed guy to offset him. Andre Johnson is not that.

    NFL BS

Three things are interesting: 1) Since the league released that statement, have their been any more leaks? They seemed to be coming regularly. Now they've stopped. 2) It is interesting where the leaks are coming from. The McPhee signing was reported by a Baltimore journalist. I suspect the news on Suh came from Detroit. The NFL knows these deals are being done but have chosen to ignore it as long as they are not reported. It's the losers who are doing the reporting. 3) I'll bet this won't be a problem next year. Like the poison pill contracts, the NFL will either embrace this or make it go away.
  6. Conte was actually ok last season. The bigger issue is his injuries and the stigma of his past failures. I'm not saying he's an all-pro, but he's not as bad as he's been made out to be. As for Rolle, with all our deficiencies, we are going to have to sign older guys to one year deals. What's nice about McPhee is that we hope to pencil him in as our starter for the next 5 seasons. With Rolle, you hope to get one productive year.
  7. That is awesome! I particularly like the fact he's only 26 so you hope that we'll get the full 5 seasons from him as a productive starter. We now have at least one starting linebacker. We could sign another and still draft a LB with the #7 pick.
  8. I thought you were talking about Howie and I got excited for a minute. Howie would look great in our new 3-4.
  9. I'm skeptical. I have no doubts the Bears have explored options. But so far all of this is based on Dan Bernstein's report . . . who is not even a Bears beat reporter. Everybody else in the Bears media has indicated that while it is not a done deal, the Bears will likely have Cutler return. I follow most on Twitter and not a one has responded to this report. I think the Bears would love to dump Cutler but they have no better options and they are resigned to the fact their best option is for him to return. Granted, that could change at a moment's notice.
  10. Yep. There are lots of ok #2 WR's available. Bowe, Harvin, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Hartline, Crabtree . . . I'm assuming T Smith is going to San Fran
  11. They cannot be signed until Tuesday. However, it's safe to assume that these deals have been agreed to and it's just a formality. Either side could back out at this point, but in most cases, why would they? Is someone going to offer Suh more than 116 million? I wonder if Detroit was the team that broke the news to Mort about Suh? It's being reported that Detroit made a damn good offer. It just wasn't good enough.
  12. The thing is, we're talking about guys who flourished in the #3 WR role. Then they were asked to do more, and they sucked. Hopefully we have our alpha-male in Alshon Jefferey. We need to find multiple WR's to complement him.
  13. As per the Bleacherport, Jacksonville close to signing Denver TE Julius Thomas.
  14. There's nothing on ESPN.com (I splurged for Insider so I could follow free agency and the draft). That tells me it's just speculation. We dumped our pain in the ass WR. A pain in the ass WR just became available. Therfore we are interested.
  15. It's reported that San Diego agreed to terms with Denver G/OT Orlando Franklin. This would be the 3rd team where there has been a leak about a signing. My thought is that if these deals are done, why wait for the announcement? I hope they keep coming.
  16. I wouldn't either. Except, the rumors are coming in more and more. Have we been linked to any WR other than Hartline? Smith seems destined for San Fran . . .
  17. Interesting. I'm real anxious to see what the next team is that starts breaking deals. Based on rumors, as of right now it appears we are signing Pot Roast and the safety from Buffalo.
  18. I'd add that it may have been been a reaction to Sean Peyton requesting speed. For instance, I don't know that Ryan Pace wanted a 3-4 defense. But he hired the best coach available, who was John Fox. Fox wanted Fangio, a damn good coach, and they wanted a 3-4 defense. Pace will draft players that hopefully fill their needs. It's not about Pace. It's about Fox.
  19. Yep. We could push Garza out to RG for one last season and move long to RT. That's an upgrade.
  20. I don't know. I'm thinking with Philly and Miami seemingly breaking the trend, we might see a flood of activitiy. First it was Miami, then like 2 hours later Philly. Who's next? If everyone is doing it . .. . I read an article that someone posted on Twitter that most of these deals are done after the combine. Or at least after the combine, the agent walks away with 3 solid offers. In short, the negotiations are done before they officially start. We might see a flood of activity now and then much action on Tuesday.
  21. I think his statement gets to the crux of the Cutler problem. Slauson's only other team has been with the Jets where he got to play with the likes of Dirty Sanchez. Cutler is way better than Sanchez and he knows it. While we may want to get away from Cutler, we can do one helluva a lot worse.
  22. Good point. I hope it goes through. It will be NICE getting him out of the division. That's a major loss for the kittens.
  23. Nicks has been decimated by injuries. While he's young, I think his career is coming to a close. I expect an announcement from Hartline today or tomorrow. He's visited a few teams and there are offers on the table. His value is not going to increase once free agency opens.
  24. The money sounds about right and the Dolphins were rumored to be the front-runner. That being said, how does this get leaked without tampering charges? Teams are not supposed to be able to discuss specifics. Remember a few years back when San Fran got in trouble for tampering with Lance Briggs? They ended up losing a draft pick out of that deal. When free agency started, they made it a point not to sign him. It was like the league threatened them to stay away.
  25. Everything indicates we are going to be major players in free agency. I don't know how you can classify it as a rebuilding year when we plan on winning as many games as possible. If this was a true rebuilding year, we'd be dumping Cutler, Allen, and Forte. I think we'll definitely give Wilson another chance, although I'm not sure how much we can count on him. He looked damn good in the pre-season before getting hurt. But he did absolutely nothing when he came back. That being said, it's confounding how bad our #3 WR position was. Santurdio Holmes and Josh Morgan were both previously productive WR's. They were in the perfect position of being the #4 option after AJ, BM, and MB. Yet they looked completely lost on the field and did absolutely nothing.
