  1. It's awesome we are collecting a coaching all star team.
  2. If Mayock's a tool, EVERY draft prognosticator is a tool. NOBODY thought Russell Wilson was better than RG3. And Trent Richardson not only fooled Mayock, but also the Cleveland Browns and the Colts. What's coming out of the senior bowl more than anything is that the Bears would be best served Fox's influence and a run first approach helps Cutler succeed.

    Gase is OC

That would be crazy. The dude wants to be a head coach. If he harbors ill will, that ain't going to happen. I still have concerns with how he will mesh with this aging offense that is ready to win now. He needs to rule with an iron fist, but at the same time, he can't go Josh McDaniels and having Cutler demanded to be traded (with not takers this time) and Marshall batting balls down. That being said, I probably would have had those concerns with any OC. In Fox we trust.
  4. When I was driving home at 5:00 today, Hub Arkush and Dan Pompeii reported they both heard that Weis was going to be hired. The Boers and Bernstein show reported a rumor that Weis is a friend of the McCaskey's and they put this rumor out their as a favor to get his name out there. On hind-sight, I'm thinking the Gase deal was done well before it was reported.

    Gase is OC

That's EXACTLY what I was going to say. You won't to promote you're coaches, hope they are successful as hell, and get a head coaching job. Then it's "next man up!" QUESTION: When was the last time the Bears had an offensive coordinator that became a head NFL coach? When was the last time we had an OC who didn't leave the Bears and take a lesser position? I don't think either has ever happened. I hope like hell teams are lining up to interview Gase next year.
  6. Actually, I thought he'd get the Denver HC job. Peyton Manning likes him. Nuff said. Baltimore hired Trestman??? I still can't get over that.
  7. With this hire, I could easily see us draft a LB, DT, or safety. Even a CB. Either way, we need a stud.
  8. Elway keeps making lateral moves. Kubiak for Fox? Joe D for Jeff Rogers? The only move Elway should be worried about making is bringing back Peyton Manning. Where the hell would the Broncos be with out him? They are SCREWED if he doesn't return.
  9. I agree completely. We rebuilt our defensive line, now we just have to get them healthy and acclimated into a competent system. To me this off-season will be the year of the linebacker. Sign a guy like Brandon Marshall and draft another at #7. The offseason is all about hope. Right now our linebackers are Jon Bostic, Christian Jones, and SMC. Close your eyes and think about that for a minute. Blech.
  10. What's there for Fox to ask him about? Dan Pompeii Tweeted that Gase was the WR's coach when Brandon Marshall had his falling out in Denver in 2009. I remember the video on ESPN where at training camp, BM had the ball thrown to him and he was batting them to the ground. I'm so confused with coaching rumors. On Saturday it was rumored that Gase to Atlanta as the OC was a done deal and that we had passed on Gase. Today Mark Trestman beats him out for a job? Now he's flying to Chiago. But I agree with you, with it being publicly mentioned he's flying to Chicago, it really seems like a done deal. Considering we were rumored to want him as our head coach, that ain't bad.
  11. We definitely need a quick WR. We have absolutely nothing after AJ and BM and nobody to stretch the field. Under Trestman, our o-line was already designed to get rid of the ball quickly. I'm loving the idea of a "run first" approach. Run to set up the pass. As opposed to passing to set up the interception.
  12. I agree with your post and I get the impression that we will somewhat work our scheme around the talent. I hate to say this, but I'm guessing this might add to Shea McClellin's value as a Bear. The nice thing is we know he won't be forced on the field.
  13. I don't remember anything either. Usually, in cases like this, the SCORE guys will hint that something happened but are unable to reveal it. For instance, I feel like there is a lot more to the Brandon Marshall situation than what we know. As for Ratliff, as far as I know, we were happy with him both on the field and off of it.
  14. Or maybe we hire him as our quarterbacks coach. Gase has been linked to all kinds of positions. Hell, it was rumored he could become the next Bears head coach. Yet, how the hell does Baltimore hire Trestman over him? Baltimore is a well run organization. Unless it's possible he turned Baltimore down . . . In Denver, they hired Gase, a young inexperienced OC, to coach Peyton Manning. You can get away with that because Peyton was essentially the offensive coach. We have a mess on offense and need a confident veteran leader. That's my concern. It could be my expectations are too high. When this process started, nobody thought we'd get Fox and Fangio.
  15. In terms of the alleged incident, like with the crap Brandon Marshall pulled, I don't think you can hold a grudge with any player about something that happened last season. The inmates were running the asylum and Trestman was more concerned about "Growing the man" than running a football team. It's all about what they can do moving forward. I might agree with the age and injuries. Although he looked real damn good at times last year. Ego and Sutton are really unproven and with the new coaching staff, I don't see us paying Paea. He's a nice candidate for the September 1st cuts. It doesn't benefit us to cut him now.
  16. I'd LOVE to have him as our offensive coordinator. In 2010 when he was the OC in Carolina, they ranked #7 on offense. He's currently working as a special assistant in Indy. It will be interesting to see if they let us interview him.
  17. I was hoping you were going with, "WHAT IF Peyton decided to play for the Bears?" Yes please. In terms of him being a coach, I can't see him being able to effectively deal with the different types of personalities. He's too much of a perfectionist.
  18. He worked for John Fox as ST coach for the past four years in Denver and in 2010 in Carolina.
  19. True, but would you take HHCD over Kyle Fuller? Fuller looked damn good before breaking his hand. He plays CB which is a more difficult position to fill than safety, unless you're the Bears. It's one year in and time will tell, but after one season, Fuller and HHCD both seem like pretty damn good players. It's a push at this point IMO.
  20. With Berstein, I can't argue with him being on a self-righteous high horse. However, when has his source been wrong? About 10 minutes after Fox was out, Bernstein Tweeted, "My source says, watch for Fox to Chicago." That was the first I'd heard of it. After the New Orleans game he Tweeted, "Trestman is out." I'd add credit to this because Trestman proceeded to bench Cutler. What was an instance where Bernstein's source was wrong? I believe Bernstein's source that Marshall would be gone, but there's new management in town. What was true a month ago, may not be true now. As for Hub, I really don't remember him not wanting Cutler. He's never stated Emery should keep his job. He was concerned if we hired the guy from KC, it would be the exact same as Emery. He liked the PACE hire. Hub did say the Bears should hire Mike Shannahan over John Fox, but then praised the Fox hire. Getting back to the original point, I really think there's a chance that Brandon Marshall is not on the team next year. It will be interesting to see who our new offensive coordinator is.
  21. I don't want Gase either and I was hoping for Shanny Jr. That being said, unless John Fox announces that Mark Trestman is his new offensive coordinator, I'm going to operate under the assumption he's going to get it right.
  22. Are you sure? I know he can interview during the off week, meaning tomorrow. So he can interview but not take the position?
  23. Oh man, in terms of QB's, there are plenty of zombies out there. Here is how I categorize the current starting team QB's in the NFL: Group 1: Teams who would take Jay Cutler as an upgrade: St. Louis, Minnesota, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Houston, Buffalo, Jets, Arizona, Washington, Miami, Cleveland, Tennessee, Kansas City . . . Group 2: Teams with quarterbacks at the similar level as Jay Cutler . . . by this I mean the team thinks the QB might be good enough to win a Super Bowl but they are not completely happy: Carolina, Detroit, Cincinnati, San Diego, San Fran, Oakland . . . with the exception of Oakland and Carr who is an unknown, do any of these QB's seem better than Cutler? You can argue it. But it seems like more of the same. Group 3: Teams happy with their quarterback but have concerns: Pittsburgh, Dallas, Giants, Atlanta Group 4: Teams completely happy with their QB play: New England, Baltimore, Green Bay, Seattle, Indy, New Orleans, Denver (If Manning returns) What this means for the Bears: Group 4: Right now, give me any QB out of group 4 (7 teams). But if Peyton retires, that number shrinks. Brees and Brady are old. Group #3 SEEMS like an upgrade over Cutler (4 teams). But Eli was real bad, Romo was on the outs before this year, and Matty Ice ain't done much, and Roth is old & hurt. Group #2 is more of the uncertain or similar to what we have (7 teams). I just don't see any of these QB's being much better or worse than Cutler. Seriously. Argue that Andy Dalton is better than Cutler. Group #1: Consists of 13 teams begging for ok quarterback play. I do not want to trade places with any of these teams who have real bad QB's. I repeat. I do not want to trade places with them. To me, when you break it down like this, Cutler doesn't seem so bad.
  24. Yeah, I was watching the Illinois-Michigan basketball game. Harbaugh walks in center-court and addresses 15,000 fans. After he was done I thought, "Damn I'd like that guy to coach my team." His speech didn't make a difference between wins and losses, but your head coach is the face of the franchise. How the hell does San Fran replace Harbaugh with a guy who can't articulate an intelligent thought?
