  1. Is her race an issue for you? I mean, if someone tells me the lady below isn't attractive, there's something wrong.
  2. I think Michelle is a hottie too.
  3. LOL! Hey, a little more on the Keating 5 for those youngsters among us... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAzDEbVFcg8 McCain ain't "Mr. Clean".
  4. Also... You be the judge. One of these men seems calm and ready to lead, the other is John McCain. Obama on the bailout: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sWPYRxb26Q McCain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yZG4r-zj2w
  5. This is since WWII. Hardly a small sample size. Take a look at the graphs and make your own call. Seems obvious to me. From http://delong.typepad.com/sdj/2008/09/notes-to-self-f.html
  6. Smart. Perhaps you've actually wised up enough to consider giving the "other guy" a look and maybe even your vote. If not, that's on you man.
  7. Precisely. If the Dems had the Presidency and the exact same record over the last 8 years, junior here would be mocking the very idea any Democrat could even run in this election. You can debate whether Bush lied us into war although I'm confident he did. The Niger Uranium deal and the outing of a CIA operative as retaliation proves it to me. But regardless, you can't argue the war was well run, planned, etc. That's 100% on the President. And his party had complete control of our government the whole way and they rubberstamped everything. McCain is, if I'm not mistaken, a Republican. Let's see what his votes were... Yep, a rubberstamper, just like the rest. It's time for those folks to own their failures.
  8. Yeah, like happened when Bill Clinton was President. Oh, wait... Greenspan certainly has some blame as well. The party in power and the party pushing for massive deregulation for the last 3 decades also shares the blame. McCain's #1 guy taking money to lobby for Fanny and Freddy up until a month ago... Woops. Your comment on rising taxes for you by a few thousand is a lie unless you make a lot more than the average 25 year old. And you don't understand that we're already spending a higher percentage of our GDP on health care than any other nation in the world and leaving out 40 million people. In other words, you're all for an elite program that provides rather poor service. Trust me, I have what most would consider an excellent policy (Aetna PPO) and they disappear when the going gets tough on some pretty important things. That's swell of you. The Republicans don't agree with you. Perhaps you ought to read up on a few things son. Put that education you have to use rather than just being a sheep. Yeah, I know, the Dems are to blame for Cheney and Bush lying us into the war. Try this for starters. It took me two seconds to google "Obama Accomplishments". Like I said, those interested in this, sincerely, can educate themselves. There are literally hundreds of locations to find out the facts. Www.obama.com is yet another. There's a section dedicated to each issue you could ever want to understand. But you're buying into the "he'll raise taxes on the middle class" bullshit lie that Fox News or somebody else with an agenda is feeding you. Face it, you have no interest in knowing the truth. McCain was a politician I respected for years. But somewhere between losing in 2000 and now, he lost it. His most notable accoplishments, in my opinion, have been to assist deregulation which have now led to two massive failures in banking. And you never did answer me as to where the magic fairy is coming from to pay for the bailouts. There's a cost to incompetence. LOL! Like his hot temper that even Republican colleges talk about not wanting to see him having his hand on the "button". Like his immediate call for the firing of Cox at the SEC rather than calmly approaching the issue. George Will is no liberal. Perhaps you ought to read his most recent comments on McCain. As far as I'm concerned, you've only further proven my initial comment to you above. You're a Republican Apologist. I hope the country is a lot smarter than you, this time around.
  9. I agree with these comments. I'd add that despite Hester being hurt, the ST's have been very good.
  10. A few more global thoughts... 1. There are serious conflicts within the groups that make up the modern Republican Party and nobody really seeming to notice or care. I think a lot of Republicans, if they really thought about it, would admit this isn't their daddy's Republican Party anymore. In fact, if they weren't so stubborn, they might actually see that the "other guys" actually represent them better these days. 2. One party is clearly more likely to foster new technologies leading to new types of jobs. We aren't really talking about the jobs that are leaving, although I believe that can be slowed by tax policy that doesn't favor companies that export jobs. Let's face it, if we don't make a few changes, there won't be many left in this country who can afford to buy the few products we still make here. The middle class is shrinking. 3. If Republicans had all the answers, why aren't things better? Nobody will ever convince me I'm better off now than I was 8 years ago. The average American simply isn't. If McCain is different than Bush, on the important issues, why'd he hold W's hand for the last few years? More importantly, I recall having serious reservations about Bush 8 years ago. And I was told by all my Republican friends, "Trust us. It'll be OK." Now they're all distancing themselves from the guy they voted for twice. Meanwhile I recall Carter getting mocked for "socialized medicine" when I was in my formative years. The state of health care in this country has been eroding since. I have medical insurance, good medical insurance, and medical problems my family had last year could've ruined us. They don't pay! I recall Al Gore being mocked for his stance on the environment. These days, he's seen differently by all but a fringe group and his forecasts in the 80's are starting to prove out in unmistakable ways. Your side claimed Reagan won the cold war but failed to credit Carter for beginning the M1 Abrahams Tank, the B1 Bomber, the MX missile system and getting Pershing II missiles in Europe. Not to mention Kennedy having the backbone to take us to the brink of nuclear war, Truman fighting the first hot battle of the cold war era and Roosevelt leading us through WWII when the cold war was already really raging... Just check the history books and Patton's take on things. I guess you'll have to excuse me if after all this and after how wrong the people who've mocked me for the things I've believed in over the years have been, if I refuse to take them at their word this time around. 4. I think if you honestly look at these two men and put away any pre-conceived notions about what a Democrat/Republican are, and judge them solely on what they bring to the table at this point in our history, I think you'd admit Obama is a better fit. We need more than ever someone who can interact with Europe and our allies in respectful and cooperative ways. We need fresh ideas. We need to flush out the cronies in so many parts of the current administration and put folks in there with real credentials and real energy to do the job they've been given. Even if McCain is "different" many of the same people will stay in place. We need intelligence. I think most would admit to being a little frightened or embarrassed by some of the things McCain has said and done recently. His age, as much as I'd like to not be ageist, is an issue. It just is. We need someone in there who does understand the economy and who brought someone on his ticket who'll be a real help to him as President rather than someone who brought someone on for political reasons alone. Romney was a far better choice, or even Bloomberg. We need people who believe in and support science in positions of power these days. Creationism has a place in our churches, not in our courtrooms or classrooms. I could go on and on. I really think it's time to "get serious" and forget the whole Red/Blue America bullshit. If you've voted Republican your whole life just because it's what you do, I'll ask you to think outside the box this time for the benefit of the entire country... The entire world.
  11. You're a typical Republican apologist. Obama has plenty of accomplishment in the last twenty years and significant accomplishment in the senate even though his time there has been short. If you care to educate yourself the facts are available at his web site. But you won't do that because you're already satisfied. Your life hasn't been screwed up by this President and his party. Look around you. And if you think McCain is different than Bush and you're asking me to just "trust you" that he'll be, I'll just say that plenty of you guys said the same thing 8 years ago. The same folks who gave us the worst President ever are now suggesting we overlook their complete failure and give them a whirl at fixing everything they hosed up in the first place. Sorry, I'm not stupid. Your boy stands for one thing one day and another the next. He cried about ugly politics but his ads are horribly misleading. His stance on almost everything changed when he became the Repug frontrunner. His pick of Palin was purely political; Obama selected someone who could help him govern. See the difference? One is an adult and the other is Karl Rove's bastard child. You boy spearheaded every effort to gut regulations that protected our financial institutions. Now we've already given away a half trillion and there's another $700 billion on the way. You dopes always talk about tax policy because you're ME ME ME about what hits your bank account. But you fail miserably to look at the big picture. What about the TRILLION dollars? Do you think some magic fairy comes out with a wand and it just disappears? YOU and your outlook on life and politics, your votes, your party have led us into this mess. And now someone has to pay for it all. Will it be those who most benefitted? HELL NO, it'll be the ferkin' middle class while the folks who spend money buying the Republican Party, as an insurance policy to cover for their crimes, continue to trick people dumb enough to vote against their self interest. OMFG!!! He's going to raise taxes on the wealthy! WHO CARES! Giving them all of that extra cheese hasn't meant a damn thing to this economy. We're in the worst shape I can ever recall. The plan from Bush, give the wealthy more money. That's where it stopped! In Reagan's day, he worked with a Democratic Congress to shape and target the money into places that helped build our economy. And I know McCain isn't Bush but he hasn't offered one plan different than your boy W. He himself said he's clueless on the economy. Meanwhile Obama has been out there offering specific plans and working with his economic advisors every day. One man is ready for this job and the other is John McCain. He's not the same man he was. He's lost. He's old. He has NO ideas. We can't wait around for another 4 years as this country fails further into the chaos your team has created. Nothing is better off than it was 8 years ago. NOT ONE THING. And I haven't even talked about the war yet. How many trillions should we spend on a mistake? Should this country continue to pay for YOUR error in judgment, sending a moron to the Presidency in the first place? Should I have to throw my son into the meat grinder for this Commander in Chief because you want a few extra dollars in your pocket? (Borrowed money, I might add.) Everyone who voted for Bush the first time made a mistake. Everyone who voted for Bush the second time is a Judas. Your few extra dollars is BLOOD MONEY. There are more than 4,000 of our finest dead now because you needed a tax cut. You sold this country down the river. You KNEW damn well what this man offered and you voted for him anyway. Oh, wait, I forgot, NOBODY admits to voting for Bush anymore. He's got 20% approval ratings and not even a Republican running for office will touch him with a 10 foot long turd. "Trust me" say the folks who gave us W. Sorry, just apologize and shut the f*ck up. Your opinion is worthless.
  12. Gotta laugh. I mean, you guys know I defended Rex when he was "the guy" but he didn't win the job this summer. He just didn't. And Kyle, while no stud, hasn't lost us a game yet. He hasn't won us one either but I'm not sure Rex ever did that. The choice has been made. Let's live with it until Kyle proves he can't do the job. This one, while Kyle shares some of the blame, can't really be hung on him. Neither can last week. He did the job we needed to be done to be 3-0 right now. With Rex, maybe we're 3-0 and maybe we're 0-3. That's the PROBLEM. Hell, Indy might have rushed him into 5 brainfart picks for all I know. So, let's focus on the real reasons for the loss and not always pick on the QB. I basically said the same thing when I was defending Rex. But Rex became somewhat indefensible after a while. He didn't grow, he continued to spiral. My post here, adding the couple of intelligent responses above, zero's in on what went wrong. If we can fix those things, we can win a few football games. Although, I'm concerned our guys on D are just getting old and can't make it a full 60 minutes anymore. And that's scary.
  13. Yeah, we know. Grossman is godlike. Can we move on?

    My take

Frustrating. For the second week in a row we've turned victory into defeat. This one was worse because you can't pin it specifically on one guy fumbling away his only two catches. This game came down to a few things: * Bad play calling and/or execution. We can't seem to gain those few yards we need on third down to extend our offensive series. Leaving just enough time on the clock for Griese to lead them down for the tying score. * Bad luck. There were a few opportunities we had on tipped balls where we were inches from making yet another pick. Either of these could've ended it right there, on the spot. * Stupidity combined with poor officiating. OK, Peanut hosed up. Sure. He's a moron on that one. You CAN'T let that happen. But someone please explain to me how this is any different than what happened last week to the Chargers. There were CLEARLY offsetting penalties on this play but they only called the Bears. Fine, Peanut deserves to get his ass kicked but damn if some official shouldn't be "graded down" on this too. How do you miss a guy punching another guy in the exact center of the field of play? * Defense running on empty. I'm not sure if NFO's complaint that the Bears have a country club training camp is more convincing to me now. But damn if they didn't run out of steam two weeks in a row. I wonder about conditioning if they can't play a full game. Having Griese pass at will at the end of the contest was insulting. * Orton stepped up in the second half or I'd be calling for his head. As is, I think he played well and he isn't the one to place blame on. Oh well, 1 game out of first with 3 games down. Unfortunately, unless McNabb is hurt, we're going to get hammered this weekend.
  15. Well, hopefully you'll have her back in 6 weeks to face the music. To me this sounds like something she could end up in jail for doing. Clearly there's a breach of her oath of office and it sounds like she hasn't exactly made a lot of friends. I know her approval rating was high but these new stories coming out about her might just empower a few of the people she's stepped on along the way. If McCain wins, this stuff about Sarah won't see the light of day in Alaska or anywhere else. Republicans have a way of making their crimes disappear.
  16. I just got this letter emailed to me by my dad. What's unusual about that? He's a guy who votes Republican almost 100% of the time. Seems this Palin pick is having an undesired impact for old Johnny. At least the problems of the week got us talking about substantive issues. No surprise, when that happened, Obama killed McCain. The worst thing that could've happened for the old man was for Americans to start focusing on the economy. He wants this to be about Piggy Palin.
  17. True. But we can all dream..............
  18. Oh, no doubt. But then I guess some could still blame the Democrats because they didn't change the Senate rules (the nuclear option as Repugs called it a few years ago.) If you want to, you can find some way, no matter how convoluted, to blame the Democrats for everything. Just watch Fox "News" for 5 minutes to see how it's done. If you've got a few spare IQ points you're bound to lose... But the facts are out there for those who really want the truth. And as my momma says, the proof is in the pudding. 8 years of Republican rule and obstruction gets you to where we find ourselves today. Hopefully, at a minimum, the country has learned enough about their mistakes to put a solid Democratic majority back in place in both houses of Congress. That level of control, even with a Republican President, has worked for decades. Republican and Democratic Presidents together "won the cold war" with a Congress controlled by Democrats for most of 5 decades. But because of the clusterfuck we find ourselves in now, we need to go a step further. We can't just have someone at the top vetoing all of the ideas flowing up from Congress. We need someone serious about tackling the problems George W. Bush has created. Someone who is fired up and ready to lead! Someone with youth on his side. Someone who can build an administration that won't be filled with incompetent cronies left over from the last 8 years. That man is Barack Obama.
  19. We agree a little but your statement about what the Dems could've done ignores politics. Based on my beliefs and convictions alone, I believe Bush and Cheney should've both been impeached by now. But you wouldn't have gotten a "conviction" in the Senate. The Patriot Act shouldn't have been extended, you get no argument from me, but the Dems would've been painted as terrorist sympathizers in every Repug ad and they'd have been out of power in the Congress for taking a principled stand. Hey, I'm all about principled stands... But I understand where they're coming from. And no, they couldn't have pulled the troops out. That's the Commander in Chief's sole call. They could've cut off funds but you and I both know that wasn't practically possible either. No, what they've done is try to play out the string hoping for a better "decider" at the top come November. It's our job to make that a reality.
  20. Let's hope that isn't the case. We're seeing in dramatic fashion what 8 years of complete Republican rule leads to. I know the Dems have had "control" of the Congress these last 18 months but: 1.) Face it, impeachment wasn't a realistic option and that's the only thing that would've stopped Bush/Cheney 2.) The Senate rules make it impossible to change course without 60 votes So, when you have a loose cannon President and no real opportunity to stop him, you try to contain him until you can make a change at the top. That's why it's so important that we elect Obama. I'm not saying he's god or anything, hell if I know. But he's not controlled by the same interests who've been taking us down this perilous path for 8 years now. He simply can't do any worse than McCain would now that McCain is beholding to the same powers Bush is.
  21. I don't have confirmation of this but a fantasy site is reporting it to me via email.
  22. Historically I've been one of the biggest Grossman backers here. But I still think the coaches made the right decision going with Orton. Grossman and his happy feet didn't win them or me over. I assumed Rex would win the job but, unfortunately, he didn't. Orton wasn't great yesterday (or against the Colts) but let's face it, in two games he did enough for us to win. Olsen gave this one away. BTW... After hearing that the play to Booker was an Orton audible, I'm backing off the fire Turner thing. He called a decent game until the late third quarter. I still think he needs to grow a pair but the biggest blunder in this game wasn't Ron's.
  23. True. But if we play with some balls in the second half yesterday... And Olsen doesn't play like he has vaseline on his hands, we're 2-0. One other thing, Orton is a big boy now. It's expected of QB's in the NFL that they be able to produce in those situations. I'll give him this one as a "learner" but he's got to step up and Turner has got to take the training wheels off him. If he can't get it done better than this, I'd almost rather have Grossman come in as a "reliever" at the end of the games like this so he can provide some energy. Not being able to produce at least a FG in this situtation is unacceptable. With that said, I personally think Grossman would've pissed the game away a lot earlier given the pressure Carolina was bringing. We need someone with Orton's stability AND the ability to put up 200 to 250 yards per game in the passing attack. This 150 yards bullshit isn't cutting it.
