Agreed. I’ve made it known I think (or thought) that Thompson could’ve been a better contributer overall than some of the others at his postition. He did have some impressive pre-season stats with Trubisky which you’d think would weigh into his being given the chance. That and he’s a decent return man on ST.

Another thing that will help; and this will take more time for Trubisky to play/develop but, once he gets more time to look off Safety and corner coverage the deep game will come along too. Right now most of his passes are quick reads mostly by design but also partly by necessity. It’s appatenr that even while rolling out he’s able to watch the receivers develop their routes and determine which to go to. Think Watson a few weeks ago where now he’s getting more used to what he’s seeing and becoming that more effective especially in the longer passes.

After an initial hard criticism of Trubisky and where he was drafted, I’m beginning to warm to Mitchell as a legitimate QB (this coming from someone who still likes Watson). I’m not still convinced our team needed to do what they did to get him but what is done is done. Watching the Biscuit in his first start I saw flashes of Manning, Rodgers and Cutler. From listening to Gruden describe him, he said Mitchell has the meticulous preparation not seen all that often. Which to me means he prepares similar to Payton. His calmness while playing seemed very Payton-like with his ability to look over the field without panic written all over his face. He has the elusiveness similar to Rodgers and the accuracy to boot. To Cutler he has the pure arm strength. All of this boils down to Trubisky being a force to be reckoned with. But to put a point to my appreciation of Trubiskys play I would highlight that touchdown pass to Miller. Watch as he rolled out and seeing Miller was covered as he went right Trub simply took his thumb and beckoned Zach to reverse course (although the defender saw it too and was able to deflect the pass). I’ll be honest that was probably the coolest thing I saw him do during the whole game. That single moment told me he has ‘it’.

Well I’ll be. Who came up with that trick play?

Hey ‘Bears 4 ever’, whattya think about O’Donnells QB ability? Lol???
-
Allright Jason, they need to draft an OT first round next year. Preferably not a Carimi or Williams style though.
-
Who the hell is this stud Kyle Fuller? And did I say I love me some Christian Jones?
-
I was actually talking about the D but yes the O too.
-
Wow if only no penalties? Where would our team be right now?
-
Why the hell is our JV team better than the Varsity? Lol
-
This is the zone offense talked about but never used until now.
-
For the record, I love me some Christian Jones.

Is John Fox a rookie coach? Letting Trubisky go out and get a delay of game call? WTF?
-
This... and Deonte Thompson are my top receiving picks.

Because I’m drinking some Corona and eating some home made Quesoritos; is there any question how good a coach Dave Toub is? Tareek Hill just ran a punt back for another TD. Hester 2.0

Im actually taking time off to watch the game (game starts 4:30 here). May have to invest in some Maughivelian(sp?) for a victory toast!!! (So I hope) Really look forward to tomorrow night. (As I watch Watson impress on Sunday night).

For what it's worth, I was more a 'post-draft displeaser' of Trubisky. Although I made no secret I liked Watson better, The Biscuit is starting to grow on me and I really hope for him to succeed. Our team needs it.

I'll drink to that.

Says the guy who used several stanzas to write 'some think he should wait, others think he should've started immediately'. LOL At the end of the day, who cares? He starts Monday.

The point Jason and I agree on is that Trubisky was/is the 2nd overall pick from this year's draft and should be ready to go...now. If he wasn't ready to start on day one when would he be ready? How would anyone know he was ready until he started and actually played? He doesn't have a whole lot of game film, never mind in the NFL, but even in college to fall back on to instill confidence in anyone. Sure Pace and Fox got to see him work out individually under the cover of darkness and 'liked' what they saw but the same could be said several months earlier about Glennon and look where that got us. Goff got time to wait because LA's #1 (Case Keenum) started off hot. Then after teams started studying film and whatever other factors figured in he started to suck. Goff was forced into duty based on that fall from grace. Not all that different than the situation in Chicago. Only real difference, at this point, is that Glennon sucked sooner. Goff came out and certainly didn't look like a #1 overall pick...last year. This year, different story. Do you think Trubisky will come out and 'save the franchise' in his first start? How about his second or third or even before this season ends? My guess is probably not. What he will do is give everyone (himself included) a chance to see whether he can make the change and be the difference maker our team needs. It won't happen overnight, it may not even happen this year. But we need to know now rather than later. Yes DeShone Kizer may be getting 'crushed' but maybe HE wasn't ready to make the change now. Will he ever? Only time will tell. Another former first rounder, Jay Cutler, was never able to get his act together....and he had several chances to prove himself. Is Trubisky destined for that type of career? We would hope not but won't know until he plays.

And oddly enough Victor Cruz predicted this would happen...almost a day before it did. That might have been a 'clue' as well. And my answer to the question in this article is 'yes'. https://beargoggleson.com/2017/10/04/chicag...ck-victor-cruz/

Goff started week 9 (?) after the original starter, Keenum, committed numerous turnovers in a 5 game span (where have we heard that before?) Goff was not spectacular coming out of the gate, in fact he barely threw anything over 20 yards...but got that much valued and much needed NFL experience. Difference between he and Trubisky? (Other than one year of separation between them). Goff has that 'half season' of experience, Todd Gurley and two new WR's in Robert Woods and Sammy Watkins and a new HC. Will Chicago use this model to develop Trubisky? Time will tell.

The loss at ATL was not on Glennon; plain and simple. Two of the three last ditch throws to win the game were either right on or close enough. The receivers in both instances; Bellamy and Howard just didn't produce. There's a whole lotta 'what ifs' that could've played into how the Bears got to that point but had Trubisky been in the same exact situation I doubt it would've been much different. The only factor that may have played to his favor would've been his mobility where he could have run in instead of thrown. As far as the rest of the games, already played and going forward is still an unknown. Sure he (Trub) adds another dimension but we have yet to see him in full NFL mode. Preseason is one thing and looks good but really its only a minor step up from the combine where football players perform in tshirts and shorts (meaning not realistic). And comparing he and Watson is not really fair to Trubisky...yet. Trub doesn't have two national championship appearances (with one win) and actual NFL playing time to his resume. Give it a few weeks. I'd say we're more an 8-8 team with him than one extreme or the other.

Gotta side with Jason on this one. It's pretty common practice your first round players (especially skill players and especially if they're picked in the top 5 - maybe even top 10) are expected to start almost immediately. Look at our last few 1st rounders; Floyd and White and tell me neither was expected to sit on the bench and ferment. I get that in theory a potential franchise QB might be better off sitting on the bench but really are we all so sure Trubisky is franchise QB material? What if he goes out and stinks if up worse than Glennon and we end up picking in the top 5 next year? Would you think we might need to consider looking at another your QB (something Pace has said he'd do if necessary) from a class or strong QBs? Starting him now is what's right.
