Agree with most of the assessment. In fact because of it I'm now more aware how dire (perhaps) the OLB/Edge Rush position is. Although Fangio historically not known for blitz packages he could certainly use a true edge rusher besides Floyd (who is injury prone). I wonder if drafting Edmunds would make more sense in that although he is designated an ILB he could swing outside if Floyd or Lynch were suddenly unavailable? Agree that interior lineman could (and should) be addressed by the second round. In fact, I'd pin the choice in the second round. Scary to think they are already having to possibly consider drafting a replacement for Amos. I like what I'm seeing from him and suspect we'll be in a similar situation with him next year that we were this year with Fuller. That being said I LOVE the idea of current Alabama Fitzpatrick pairing up with Jackson...but probably not enough at 8.

In this interview it appears we’ll be seeing a lot of opportunities for audible calls from Trubisky. Something we’ve only heard or talked about in more recent iterations of the Bears offense. Having Howard in the backfield will certainly keep opposing defenses honest. The CBs will be playing loose off Gabriel and Robinson meaning we’ll probably be seeing some nice gains in the passing game. Something else we haven’t seen all that much of in recent years. Another takeaway from this interview is that you can tell Trubisky is excited for what is about to come. That means a lot as a fan. Helps us to buy into what is about to happen. BEAR DOWN!

At least they’re adding bodies at positions the team needs them at. Would be nice to see them build up some bodies for oline tryouts.

And the thing of it is, pass catching abilities or no, Howard is a force to be reckoned with. Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking no one else has figured out what Howard’s limitations are. That being said and that being a ‘known’, Howard still manages to get 1,000 yards. And this was while he played for a relatively one dimensional offense. Imagine what will happen when the playbook is opened up and Howard has even more lanes to run in.

Totally agree. Given the uncertainty of how well Robinson will come back from his injury, it would be nice to have an insurance policy in the form of Dez. But not at the sake of a huge contract nor worrying whether he’ll be a pain the ass later on.

I have this eerie feeling he’ll end up on either the Patriots or Pats. Im with you; his potential talent is almost counterbalanced to his off and on field antics. Not sure what Nagys influence is on players like this.

Meh. You could theoreticllay sign former 1st round picks (and current FAs) linemen in Luke Joekel or Greg Robinson and still plug the line with decent Olinemen. I’ll stand by my belief that skill players, over time, have higher value. In this type offense I’d see that intensified. Especially given the current state of the WR stable. But then again, Pace really hasn’t stuck with conventional wisdom when drafting players either so there is that. Speaking of FAs. There’s still another batch due to hit the market come post draft so we shouldn’t give up on a quality player (oline or we) still being available in the future. It was a similar situation by how Josh Sitton came to us.

I’m with you on the Jeffery and Gould part; not as much with Meredith. With the host of other WRs with recent injury history having a third on the roster would be difficult to justify. And that he had a contract up made the choice a little easier.

Meredith offered a ‘possible’ option not knowing how well he would recover from a pretty severe knee injury. Pair that with Whites still unrecognized ability and Robinson’s unknown potential (and both having recent injury history) it’s no wonder they decided to cut ties with Meredith. Honestly at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t consider a WR in the earlier rounds. I was relatively sure the Bears might consider Calvin Ridley or even Sutton out of SMU in the first few rounds before Robinson came on board. With the recent events and the lack of high value FAs as well as the overall un-exciting WR roster still currently on the Bears, there’s a good chance they may still be in the running for one of them. Yes I had even started to think they may consider one of the high value Olinemen but I’m not so sure anymore.

Sure Meredith has/had potential. Considering the degree of his knee injury we’re probably better off with him gone. I’m still holding out hope on White’s resurgence and that maybe Inman will find a place on the team. Speaking of WRs; I’ve talked to a few Vikes fans I know and they’re stoked about Wright joining their team.

Lemon, the fact of the matter is; sure he may be a ‘one trick pony’ but he’s good at that trick. He’s managed 1,000 yards in each of his two seasons in a ‘ho hum’ one dimensional offense. Trading him away to HOPE to get a player that might be as good as he is asking for trouble.

I’m just glad that Mark Sanchez is (or soon will be) gone. Don’t care what Daniels contributions on the field are. As long as he’s the alternative to Sanchez, he can stay forever.

Total hogwash, true or not. Absolute bottom line is Howard is currently the one ‘known’ on the Bears offense. In that I mean to say he has proven himself for two straight years (despite even the possibility of the fabled sophomoric slump) to be a steadying force on this team on this side of the ball. Trubisky has only played part of one year. Cohen has played a limited role behind Howard. Shaheen has played how much as an NFL TE? And name one WR on this team that has proven themselves in Nagys offense? For Pace to consider ridding the team of the one constant on this team over the course of the last two years is unadulterated horse puckey . Let alone to trade up and try to get an even more unknown from the college ranks. I still question many of Pace’s moves despite liking SOME of them myself. But this would far outweigh sanity and in my opinion question his relevance as a talent scout.

They still have Deon Bush and DHC on the roster too. Although anymore they are primarily ST players. (Bush and DHC we’re both drafted the same year - 2016 - by Pace).

Count me in on Robinson too. I spoke on this in another thread but this guy has got what’s needed to be #1 especially on a team like the Bears. The knee is troublesome but he’s young enough and unless he’s got some history with that, give him what he needs. I’d even say swing for two high profile FA WRs and take a look at Sammy Watkins too. Goff ironically benefited from the Rams getting Watkins and Woods last year and a few here agreed following that model for Trubisky would be a great idea.

Man, didn’t know much about this Robinson cat until I watched some highlight film on him. This guy is awesome! Reminds me of the AJ/Calvin Johnson/Josh Gordon big body type WR our team needs. Catches with his hands and is aggressive at the point of attack. Sign me up!!! Although I see he had a knee injury (MCL or ACL tear?) last year. Could be a problem. Sammy Watkins is another name mentioned in potential FAs. He helped Goff turn things around last year. Maybe he’s still got it in him to help Mitchell out? As far as some of the names mentioned above; agree on most. Saw that Fuller was assigned the ‘transition tag’ today (whaatever that means) so I suspect he’ll be back next season.

I’d say he is if you’re talking about our offense going to more fast paced spread/WCO/zone with receivers out of the backfield as the primary offense.
